We went to Beijing for leisure for the week of Xmas. Given we are going with children, we decided to stay in an apartment hotel. This place does the trick, it's 10 minute walk to the Tiananmen Square security checkpoint, and 5 minute to Wangfujing shopping area, where there are plenty of restaurants. There is also a convenient store just around the corner. We managed to do laundry every night so we didn't have to travel with so much clothes, and we had a light breakfast in the room every morning, to decrease the amount of time wasted getting breakfast outside with kids in tow. Only complaint was that the hotel should periodically repair broken fixtures in the room. We had a burnt lightbulb and a faulty electrical charge point in our room. I suspect they were there for a while.

If you are traveling to Beijing with your family, look no further than this hotel! We stayed in a two bedroom/2 bathroom and was surprised at how spacious our suite was! One bedroom had a large jacuzzi as well as a separate shower stall. The other bedroom had a shower. Large kitchen with washer/dryer. At the end of a long day touring it was nice to be able to just order food and eat in. Their breakfast buffet was good, not as good as we had in Waldorf Astoria in Shanghai, but still pretty good with lots of variety. Note, most of the front desk staff spoke very little English so google translate is your friend. Location is fantastic! One block away from train station and behind the hotel is Wangfujing Road which is the main shopping street in Beijing. Highly recommend!

4 night stay in a 1 bedroom apartment. As on our previous visit a good welcome, hotel very clean and everything in working order. Washer/dryer was very useful with washing powder provided. Easy to reach from airport using airport train & metro. Close to pedestrian street for easy shopping/meals in shopping mall food courts and also close to a metro for cheap transportation.
Swimming pool is excellent. It is usually very quiet and has great views over the city.

Sadly you don’t get the Marriott Bonvoy perks…. No breakfast, no lounge….. too many others around offering better. The A/c is awful and we booked a suite for 4 and 2 people were expected to sleep on a single, hard sofa bed….. won’t be returning.

Found cockroaches in our room during the early morning. We asked to be moved to another floor. We were given a downgraded room. The next day, the safety deposit box broke with our money and passports in, took them 1 hour to open it. Management offered us a 4% refund on our stay, trying to convince us its normal to have cockroaches since they have kitchens in the units. What a big joke this is..

My husband and I had a blast during our stay! The room is spacious — it has a kitchen, a living and a dining room. Well decorated and surprisingly cozy. The bath tube was the highlight for us! It’s quiet and our view was great.
The location is great, walkable and close to shops and a shopping mall, BUT is not very close to the subway station.
We had breakfast there one day and it was good, but not sure if worth the price.
I really recommend this hotel!

Dear MarcellaXAquino, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and much appreciate you shared us your experience. As we expected, our unique round bath tube got your like. For the subway station, you may got the wrong information, since our apartments is only 6 minutes walking distant to take it, the most closed one is the Wangfujing C2 exit. I hope the wonderful memory will bring you back soon once you travel to Beijing. Thanks.

I had little expectation of the hotel except that it had to have some minimum standards due to it being a Marriott... The photos on the website are minimal to say the least - there is none of the 2br suite that we had booked!

Anyway, it exceeded our expectations due to the comfort of the beds, location to food and the Forbidden City, proximity to public transport, and amazing staff. Shout out to Amanda at the front desk who patiently and efficiently helped us book Universal Studios tickets since one is not allowed to do this if you're outside China!

Rooms were spacious, clean and had everything that you need.

Would definitely stay at the Imperial Mansion again in Beijing the next time we are there!

Very nice apartment hotel. My one bedroom suite, 511, is spacious, very good quality, has a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, a washing machine, two bathrooms and more. The breakfast add-on price is 40 rmb plus 16% per night. It cost 137 rmb plus 16%, if you don't have it included in the room rate. Staff are friendly and helpful.

It is the nicest apartment that I've ever rented on a daily basis, but also the most expensive. Breakfast was included in my room rate. Service was friendly, but the overall selection was not large, I haven't seen many guests in the hotel, and there are few at breakfast.

Thank you Tripadvisor reviewers – these reviews have been so helpful for me as I planned a trip for my family. I would like to return the favor by adding a review, having just stayed at the Executive Apartments, and point out some additional things that I hadn’t seen in the other review in case this is helpful to others! Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Pro’s

• Having an apartment (we had the 2 BR) was great for our jet-lagged family (husband, me, 10 yo and 9 yo kids). Some of us adjusted differently so those who were wide awake at 3 a.m. could get up and turn lights on without disturbing others. And those who wanted to stay up late in the evenings and get adjusted to local time, rather than fall asleep at 7 p.m. (this happened a lot for us in the first couple of days), could do so too. And the prices were great, so we could get the apartment for the cost of a single hotel room at other places

• The apartments are well-furnished, plenty of storage space, stylishly decorated and have a fully functioning kitchen (microwave (though confusing as it had a bake function, so I inadvertently baked the first batch of microwave popcorn we’d brought with us!), fridge, cooktop)

• Having a washer-dryer (single unit that does both) was invaluable! Beijing was the first stop on a two-week, three-city tour, and being able to wash clothes was wonderful. I appreciate the reviewer who’d mentioned it takes two hours, so I could plan accordingly. The wash cycle is 39 minutes but yes the drying is 2 hours. But I found that I could air-dry the washed clothes, they were spun well so that they were just damp not wet. I would hang in the walk-in closet to dry overnight or while I was out sightseeing, and I could get multiple loads done this way (yes, the capacity is small – maybe half that of a regular US washer). I believe the hotel offers detergent (they asked me if I needed any when they showed us to our room) but we’d packed our own pods (again, based on advice from another reviewer!). Just pack a lot of pods as you will be doing more loads than you’re used to due to the small size of the washer

• Location was great. Just a block from Wangfujing. 15 minute walk to Tiananmen Square (and Forbidden City) which was great, as it meant we could easily walk there for the sunrise flag-raising ceremony. (Do leave early though to make sure you have enough time to find the right spot and to clear security (though when we went, the security line was short and there wasn't a wait). The flag-raising takes place to the north of Tiananmen Square, just south of the Forbidden Palace. The best view is probably from the pavement to the south of the Forbidden Palace - it's less crowded and you can get a front-row view - but I liked being in Tiananmen Square to be in the midst of the crowd, but you won't get a view of the flag-raising unless you come pretty early).

• Although not everyone had great English, it was good enough to be understood. We called housekeeping to help explain the microwave to us, and the guy who came was very nice but we had a hard time communicating. But with the iTranslate app, we were able to get by easily. Front desk staff had good English

• Breakfast was very good. Yes, the food was on the lukewarm side, but it was tasty. Really good fresh fruit, yogurt, some Chinese items (noodles, fried rice), lots of American items (scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, sausages, bacon, croissants, toast, and even an omelette station). Really good English Breakfast tea too. Service started at 6:30 a.m. which was handy as we were up by 4 a.m. each day! And there are plenty of tables so we didn’t have a wait during the four days we stayed at the hotel

• The hotel had electrical outlets that were configured for international travellers – easily took US plugs and UK plugs. This was very handy. Just note that the voltage is different in China if you’re thinking about using a hairdryer (will be fine for electronics) though the hotel provides hairdryers in the room

• Shower was great – strong water pressure, nice and hot

• Our rate included complimentary one-way airport transfer which was really appreciated. The driver met us after we cleared customs holding a sign with our name, he was fine waiting a few minutes while I found an ATM to get cash for our stay (again, iTranslate very handy), and he had a minivan so we could fit our luggage. If you’re travelling with your family, keep in mind that the Chinese taxis are small (they’re Hyundai Elantras). We had four people and four big pieces of luggage, so we would have had to take two taxis to get to the hotel. Having the minivan pick-up was great. To go back to the airport, we worked with our private tour company (Beijing Private One-Day Tour Guide Daphne, also highly recommended) to get a minivan to take us to the airport

• The hotel has an ATM in the lobby. The ATM warns about a charge for users who aren't affiliated with the bank, but this was only five dollars, so it was worth it for me. I was worried about how much this charge would be and relieved when I saw from my bank statement that it was minimal. One thing to keep in mind, if your US bank has a daily limit, it will apply over the 24 hour calendar day in US time, not China time! I took out cash when I arrived in the evening and then again in the morning China time, but this was within the same day US time, so I had to wait until the next day US time

• Kids loved the swimming pool. It’s on the eighth floor (top floor) and has a great view of Beijing – at night, you can see the lights of the Forbidden City

• Elevators were fast, never much of a wait (pet peeve is staying at a hotel with slow elevators!). BTW, interestingly, no fourth floor in Chinese hotels – the number 4 is apparently bad luck

• If you’re interested in trying Peking Duck, Da Dong is the restaurant that’s most often recommended. They have a location around the corner to the hotel

• Wi-fi was good. Interestingly, Google doesn't really work in China, so if you have gmail, it will be unreliable (sometimes e-mails go through, sometimes they don't!).

Cons … can’t really think of any! Enjoy your trip to Beijing!
