Stayed for four nights as a couple in November 2023 We also booked for transport from Beijing Daxing Airport with airport concierge assistance (980 RMB) - the service was impeccable from Shangri La with prompt collection and an incredibly warm welcome from the team. It really felt like a VIP experience. We were accompanied to our room by a staff member and our luggage promptly brought up. We were really impressed and arranged further transport with the hotel to go to Beijing West and again the service was swift and highly professional with a Chinese style send off. (The hotel does offer other transport services including options to hire 18 seater vehicles to visit nearby attractions) During our stay we found all of the staff to be very welcoming, professional and willing to help. The hotel even helped me securely store a gift which was highly appreciated. Location: Situated less than ten minute walk to the Wanshousi metro station (Line 16) and about a 15 minute drive to Beijing West train station. Takes around 1 hour 15 in reasonable traffic to Beijing Daxing Airport. The hotel is also close to a waterside park and had some restaurants, small supermarket and pharmacy nearby. Complimentary car parking for one car was given to all room reservations. Hotel: Very beautifully furnished. The hotel also has some other shops selling tea and suits on site. There was a beautiful Chinese style garden to the back of the hotel. There were also several restaurants on site. Food: We booked breakfast which was self service held at the Cafe Cha each morning. There were plenty of items on offer - both Chinese (Such as baozi, dumplings, congee, stir fries) and Western (pastries, cereals, bacon, salmon and sausages) coffee, tea and juice were also available. I loved the fresh watermelon juice on offer each day. Fruits were available such as oranges and watermelon. As someone who has multiple food allergies it was a little challenging trying to decipher ingredients as the dishes were just labelled with their name only and not their allergic constituents eg dairy, egg (This is a common practice across Chinese hotels and restaurants as I don't think food allergies receive as much prominence nor taken as seriously as in the UK though had hoped Shangri La might be different- not a criticism- just an observation ) so trying to see which foods might be suitable for me involved lots of questions to the servers which were time consuming and on occasions the servers were not too sure what ingredients the dishes contained either. They did still try hard (one even took apart a dumpling I queried about to check on the stuffing ingredients )which I'm grateful for. I did feed this back to the hotel via a survey I was sent and was pleasantly surprised to receive a response from the manager (although the advised solution was to still ask the servers). the hotel also had other restaurants on site such as French and Japanese though we didn't try any of them. The lobby bar was a pleasant venue to sit and relax - their mocktails were pretty good! Room: We reserved a Garden wing superior room and were delighted to find that our room had a lovely view of the hotel's Chinese garden as well as the room being the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in. The room was clean and the bed was huge (larger than a superking bed) and comfortable. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel, where we experienced some of the best service we have ever received. We would highly recommend a stay here and would be delighted to stay again if we pass through Beijing in the future.

Hotel's Favourite
Shangri-La Beijing Hotel I have previously stayed at Shangri-La Hotels in Tianjin, Qufu and Beijing Shougang. This was my first stay at Shangri-La Beijing although I have previously visited the hotel. Indeed, having seen the hotel and what it had to offer, I desired to stay there. This was achieved during the recent week-long National Holiday. What had impressed me on my initial visits particularly was the vast, 3000 sq.metre enclosed garden at the rear of of the hotel. It incorporates traditional architecture inspired by the nearby Summer Palace. There also is a feeling of Suzhou gardens. It is indeed a beautiful asset for the hotel and can be viewed both from the spacious lobby lounge and from Cafe Cha where an extensive breakfast buffet is available. The garden creates a feeling of relaxation, something I have appreciated after a busy period before the holiday. During warmer weather a garden bar operates with outdoor seating. The hotel has a long history. The earlier Garden Wing, one of the first top-end hotels in Beijing. The newer Valley Wing where I stayed. Both offer the very high standards of comfort, facilities and service associated with the Shangri-La brand across China and internationally. As a Shangri-La Circle member I was upgraded to use the facilities of Valley Wing’s 12th floor Executive Lounge - which was really appreciated. Excellent views across western Beijing, the lounge offered a relaxing environment for work or just to sit with a drink or evening buffet while watching the sunset over Beijing’s Western Hills. Lynn, the lounge manager, and her excellent team ensured quality service with the friendship I have come to associate with Shangri-La hotels. I spent many evenings in that lounge, appreciating the relaxing, welcoming environment - I was quite sad finally leaving - although I am certain I will return, hopefully soon. The hotel has a range of dining experiences including the excellent AZUR French fine cuisine restaurant which offers also a range of superb wines. Within a short distance are some great locations, including historic Zizhuyuan (Purple Bamboo Garden) created around a vast lake. I visited the park several times, including a delightful temple of the same name. Alongside nearby Nanchanghe Canal is historic Wanshousi Temple. All within very beautiful locations. I was impressed by the reaction of the staff to the hotel guests - we were treated with friendship and genuine feelings of welcome. We had an excellent, friendly, room attendant, Li Hui Xian, who kept the bedroom and bathroom spotlessly clean during her morning visits. The room had floor to ceiling windows allowing very extensive, panoramic views. I was delighted to be met on arrival by the hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Wendy Sia who introduced the facilities available, and who regularly checked to ensure everything was going smoothly during the stay. Indeed I can say that all staff who I came in contact with were very friendly, helpful and certainly professional. Would I return to this hotel - certainly, not least to enjoy the magnificent garden but also to enjoy again the company of its staff who really helped create the feeling that this is a great hotel to spend time when in Beijing. The hotel, very much in keeping with what is expected from Shangri-La. Thanks to everyone there for such an excellent week having a Beijing ‘staycation’.

Exceptional stay at Shangri La Beijing. Staff are so friendly and professional. Hard to improve on such attentive service. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful when asked for assistance. Would 100% recommend.

We chose this hotel due to its location for Summer Palace and Great Wall and also based on several recent rave reviews. This is not a bad hotel but somehow doesn't quite tick the normal Shangri-la boxes in terms of luxury and ambience. Our room (on top floor) was small, especially the bathroom, and felt autdated - and despite booking for 2 came with only one set of towels! Breakfast was OK but on one day was not ready at start time of 6:30. Reception and concierge service was helpful. I was offered a birthday cake, which was a nice touch, but administration of the gift was a bit haphazard. Unlike Shanghai (our home) and many other locations this hotel still takes COVID-19 very seriously but this is also a feature of Beijing. We were given toiletries on request at reception - for environmental reasons - but every time we returned to our room, our lights and aircon had been switched back on! The Shang Chines restaurant, including Peking Duck, was very good. Immediate surroundings are a sterile but a good location if you are going out each day.

Spent a night in one of the Executive suites in the Garden Wing, the original building. There is a certain warmth about this wing that I find really endearing. Firstly, I got an amazing rate on the hotel website as a Golden Circle member, the hotel's reward program. Secondly, the Club Lounge really delivers with a fabulous group of staff. I have to single out Phyllis, manager on duty during my stay for thinking out of the box, Jet and Summer, for consistently engaging service and Sara, who was simply wonderful in dealing with whom I perceived to be an impolite guest. Also, Alan Wang from housekeeping who serves with such joy. Lastly, it was good to see the hotel almost back to normal with many services available, post-COVID. For example, what a pleasure it was to have a coffee at 10h45pm in the Club Lounge. For me, value for money and warm, personalised service matter and that is what I had this time. I will be back and back again.

I've stayed in the Shangri-La Beijing a couple of times, and whether I'm traveling for business or for pleasure, it's always my first option! For a city that prides on its heritage and tradition, the Shangri-La fits perfectly in that regard. Both wings (Garden and Valley) of the property are fantastic, and they preserve cues of a very traditional Shangri-La elegance, yet modernized for our current days. The suites are very well equipped and make you feel at home, but with a big touch of luxury and tradition. I usually joke that hotels are either a play on familiarity and repetition or novelty and newness, but somehow this hotel manages to position itself right in the middle. The restaurants are modern and offer fantastic courses, whether you're up for Chinese, French, or Japanese style meals. Their live music in the wine lounge as well as the Azure restaurant is a great complement to the service and atmosphere. The gardens in the property are very calm and they turn into very fun experiences at night. Even part of their parking lot turns into a farmers' market on the weekends. I could go on and describe all the different bits of the hotel that make me feel happy, but I think I'll switch to tell you more about its people. Everybody: the doorman, to the attentive staff in the reception, the friendly cleaning crew, to the smiling room service staff, and the impeccably-dressed General Manager are always wearing a smile. Even during COVID-19 times, you can tell by looking at their eyes how pleased they are of having you around. Expect to be offered help as you navigate their huge property. Expect to be asked if your food is good. Expect to be greeted by the walking staff as they move from one part of the building to the other. Expect to feel welcome no only when you walk in, but through your entire stay. I already miss Martin, the GM, and his lovely crew. Looking forward to another escape to the capital!

Stayed I we the weekend together with family, including 2 teenagers and a 10 year old. The staff was absolutely amazing! Very attentive and friendly, always sincerely wanting to ensure that our stay was at its best. We went to Beijing with a packed schedule, with the only thing in mind to tick off as many attractions as possible. We are used to travels, and unless you head for a tourist place and resort, we have little to no expectations on hotels as it’s primary everything else you head there for. Shangri-la in Beijing is different! We ended up wishing we’d stayed longer in the hotel and less on tourist attractions. When it was time to go home to shanghai, the kids didn’t even want to check out :) It turned out that the stay at Shangri-la was at Least the same memorable thing as the attractions themselves, which i don’t think my family has ever come across before. Head there and you won’t be disappointed!!

My husband and I stayed at the Shangri-La for our birthday weekend. Rooms were clean, staff were friendly, grounds were beautiful and the breakfast buffet was delicious. But what impressed us the most is that upon check-in, we didn't mention it was our birthdays. The next day, Jet, Phyllis and Maggie from Guest Relations surprised us with a delicious chocolate mousse cake and a homemade birthday card. Such a small gesture made a huge impact on our stay there. Thank you for a memorable staycation!
