I stayed here for a year while being employed in Beijing, and my experience was excellent. The service is amazing, and the apartment was great. For a foreigner that did not want to deal with setting up electricity, internet, or anything else, the apartment was perfect. And they were very understanding when I was traveling and had to pay the rent late a few times. The apartment was clean and nice. The heat and air conditioning worked great. The Internet was adequate. Plus, the gym is best-in-class. I miss the people at the front desk and the great service. China World Apartments was incredibly convenient and now that I live in a normal apartment in Shanghai, I miss the convenience! The location was perfect for work, as it is in the CBD area two blocks from Kerry Centre, and across the street from the China World Mall. The mall includes an entrance to multiple subway lines via Guo Mao station, so no need to walk outside in the cold Beijing winter!

My work has accommodated me here for 2 months and for a serviced apartment in Beijing, it does the job. The apartments are spacious, there is a lot of storage and if there are a few of you living here then you have some breathing space too. The cleaning staff come twice a week and change your beds and do the basics, which is great. There are times however where we have noticed they are in a rush because the bathrooms mainly the showers and the kitchen are not very clean. The huge plus side of staying here is its convenient location to anywhere in the CBD and beijing on a whole, as it is opposite the subway station. As well as its incredible gym, just make sure to turn on the air-con.

The apartment is one of the oldest buildings in the whole China World Complex and it is not managed by Shangri-la but by the China World itself. This is actually a long-term rental building with some short term units when available. So its style of services is minimal, not exactly like apartel types such as Fraser or Oakwood. Nevertheless it still offers good and comfortable rooms, and some basic utensils for cooking.

My family and I stayed in the China World Apartments for 2 weeks in April/May 2015. Our apartment was a 2 bedroom apartment in the north tower. It was ideally located to the China World shopping centre, the Guomao business district and the subway station. A range of restaurants were available within walking distance of the apartments. The apartment was quiet, comfortable and well presented. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was clean. We had cleaning service twice per week and this was sufficient. A basic kitchen was present, however there were not many utensils so one couldn’t do any serious cooking here. Both bathrooms were well equipped, and had large showers with good water pressure. There was a kids indoor play room with a range of features, and ample doormen to assist with getting in and out, or getting taxis etc. Wired internet was provided which usually worked, no wi-fi was available. From a facilities and location standpoint, I would stay here again and would rate the property as 4 stars. However – the way checkout was handled, is the reason this property gets 2 stars rather than 4. I told the personnel clearly that I wanted the (large value) transaction to be processed in RMB to my Visa credit card, both at check in and check out. At check out I immediately noted on their printed receipt that they had used DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion) to charge my card in Australian dollars at the point of sale rather than RMB as requested. Firstly the denied it. Then they blatantly lied and told me that it was “the same”, and that this was done because I had an AUD denominated card. Upon further investigation the difference between them processing the large transaction in RMB to my card, and “for my convenience” converting it themselves at their “Bank of China” terminal’s unfavourable exchange rate was equal to AUD $300 (approximately RMB 1,500). Despite arguing with the staff and supervisor present about this, asking them to process the transaction correctly, they continually denied this had been done and assured me that it had been processed in RMB. The transaction came through to my card in AUD and cost me the extra money than if it had been processed correctly. After raising the issue with the staff, they were unable to deal with it except continuing to provide misinformation to me. I am sure that if I was paying cash, the hotel would not accept me paying RMB 1,500 less than the bill “for their convenience”, this would amount to theft – yet this is effectively exactly what they did to me, with no resolution available. This is an issue in many hotels in China, however most are able to deal with it once pushed and process the transaction in RMB rather than using Point of Sale DCC. The lack of training of staff in this matter (and their continued insistence on their position being correct) represents an unacceptable system of work for a premium positioned and priced property. Based on this experience I would not stay here again, and I have also recommended my colleagues take their business elsewhere.

I have lived in the south tower of China World Apartments for about 18 months. It is very well maintained, and the quality of appliances and fixtures is high. The staff is efficient and very friendly. The location is central, only 5 minutes walk to Guomao subway station.. In my case the view is also excellent, on the 20th floor looking out at the CCTV building. Two things I really like are: a) very good sound attenuation for both neighbors and outside noise, and b) a nice balcony for sitting and drinking wine when the pollution is low.

We had a 2 bed apartment which suited us well. It was clean and modern but rather sterile. The furniture was basic and functional, not at all homely. It was fine but nothing special. Location was fine, near a mall with restaurants etc. and subway, and close to a bunch of offices.

I was here for work for a month and this is very good. great location - shopping mall right opposite with restaurants/supermarket, underground station nearby, close by my office. flat is spacious and clean with cleaner coming in twice a week. gym that have tv attached at the front of the running machine/cross trainer. the annoying thing is there's no wifi.. only lan connection that only works in the bedroom. so I cant go online while watching tv in the sitting rm.

Overall, China World Apartments is very good -- front desk service is great (staff are helpful and work quickly), there is a nice gym, and the location is very good if your work is in Beijing's CBD (particularly the China World Centre), and is close to a major subway station. However, having seen some of the other apartments, make sure you ask for a newly renovated one -- the layout and decor is much better and a TV is installed in the bedroom as well as the living room.
