As my review of this hotel points out, the Fairmont Beijing is conveniently near a subway station that is only four stops from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The National Museum and Mao’s Mausoleum are located at Tiananmen Square as well. In a different direction, trains from the same subway station near the hotel will also take you to the Lama Temple (considered the most important temple complex in Beijing after the Temple of Heaven). Across the street from the Lama Temple is the Temple of Confucius. In short, this is a well located hotel for being able to visit important sights in Beijing on your own.
