The Opposite House by Swire Hotels is one of four Houses in The House Collective. Located in Taikoo Li Sanlitun – a vibrant open-plan shopping, dining and entertainment destination developed by Swire Properties, The Opposite House was designed by Kengo Kuma, one of Japan’s most celebrated art and design geniuses. The House’s 99 guest studios include nine spacious suites and a penthouse duplex with a 240 sqm roof terrace, all pet-friendly with special treats and amenities available for guests’ furry companions. More than half of all the studios are over 70 sqm and all are strikingly simple with natural wooden floors and subtle touches of Chinese décor. The Atrium of the House presents itself as a contemporary art gallery, showcasing art steeped in fresh cultural insights. The House also has four restaurants and bars, Superfly, the casual Sichuan bar-restaurant that celebrates the culture of the everyday through electric vibes, bites and drinks; Jing Yaa Tang, chef Li Dong’s Michelin-starred masterpiece of fine Chinese cuisine including its famous Peking duck; and Frasca, the modern Italian eatery serving classics crafted by chef Marino D’Antonio. Finally, UNION, the cocktail bar designed by AvroKO, embodies the spirit of 1920s modernism and is the place to savour silk road-inspired cocktails while indulging in conversations.

My spouse and I had a one night staycation at Opposite House and were delighted with the experience. We experienced Opposite House's excellent service even before arrival when we called to check on current COVID prevention measures and received very clear instructions. When we arrived, our checkin process was quick and smooth, and the front desk staff were extremely kind. Opposite House is a delight to the senses even before you arrive at your room, from the high ceilings of the lobby, to the smell of cinnamon wafting in the air, to the thick rugs that mute the sound of your footsteps and begin to create a restful experience. Our room was spacious and bright, and we were welcomed by a hand-written note and an assortment of nuts and berries. Opposite House is easily the most generous hotel I've stayed at, providing an ample supply of tea, coffee, and snacks in addition to their complimentary maxibar. Of the oak soaking tub (with complementary salts), all that needs to be said is that if you are of shorter stature you can (and should) float in it. We greatly enjoyed the creative drinks of the Union Bar, which can be consumed either in the bar or in one's room. Opposite House also offers a bountiful and delicious breakfast to its guests that includes both dishes off of a breakfast menu and a buffet. Whether you're looking for a Beijing staycation or are passing through, Opposite House is an excellent choice.

Our family stayed a night at Opposite House in the heart of Sanlitun and loved it! The room was light, airy and spacious with the warmth of wood and simple Japanese aesthetics. We particularly enjoyed the deep wooden bath tub and quality of the sheets and towels. The kids were wowed by the personal touches, the small chocolate Minions on arrival with welcome note and free minibar--the cold beer wasn't bad either. We all enjoyed a splash in the lap pool downstairs. I eyed off a steamroom in the bathroom that I'll try on another visit. The room had all the modcons you'd expect and we appreciated the automatic drop down blinds for full darkness while we slept. While the room allowed one child, we asked for sheets and made up the sofa where both of our kids (ages 4 & 7) slept well. We had a quick breakfast off the menu at Frescoe (which is always good) and then walked the kids to school before visiting the bookstore nearby in Taikooli. Of course, Opposite House is more of a couples hotel with its quiet and sophication but I was happily surprised at how good a family stay we had.

Hotel with very sleek design and artistic decoration. Feels very comfortable. In the heart of Sanlitun taikoo Li the hotel has unbeatable location and view. Feels like a peaceful place in the middle of the crowd. Some wood design in the guest room feels a little lack of functional thoughts but this imperfection does not affect its beauty.

Still my favourite hotel in the house series. Great location, nice decor and amazing staff/ services! (Look for Georgina if you need help) There’s always something cool happening at the lobby and this time was a DIOR x SACAI pop-up store. Definitely need to try out their restaurants and bar as well, good vibe, food and drinks! Every time they drop me a note that says “WELCOME HOME” in my room, it make sense.
