We had a nice stay and talk with the owner Abu in his hotel inside Madaba's historical center. The hotel is the 2nd oldest in the city with parking in front of the hotel. Jordanian breakfast was included in the price. It is cca 2 minutes walk from St. Georg's church and 10 minutes drive to Mt.Nebo.

we were looking for a basic hotel for one night in maqaba and this was a perfect choice. the room was clean and airconed, shared bathroom was also clean and with hot water. the family that owns the hotel is lovley - very helpful and nice. highly recommend for not very demanding travellers!

Not in a good state eg the toilet seat was unattached. It didn't seem clean at all either - sand on tables. Worn out. We didn't want to go to bed or take a shower. Cannot recommend it! Sure something better can be found....

This place is an absolute DUMP! I really dislike super negative feedback on a business, but as a paying customer, I would appreciate a person's honest opinion. The bathroom was DISGUSTING, commode seat barely screwed on. The shower MAY HAVE been cleaned 4 mos. ago, it appeared. There are cracks and holes in the wall where you can clearly see the hallway from your room. Thank GOD my girlfriend and I were only there to shower and decompress, for a few hours, before catching our flights. I was nervous that there might even be bed bugs, so I wouldn't have been able to comfortably sleep the night in that place. And they only take cash. Do yourself a favor. Spend a little extra, and get something decent for your stay. Cheers.

Disclaimer: I'm laid-back guest that's easy to please. Dirt doesn't bother me. Cockroaches are expected. I don't need A/C. I've stayed at hostels with no mattresses--just a wooden plank, and I'm cool with that. No soap? No towel? No TP? No worries; I bring my own. But I do expect a couple basics that every hostel should have: lockers, a kitchen, power outlets, wifi, and some sort of common-space. I only came here because the Moab Land Hotel down the street was doing maintenance on their (only?) dorm room, so they only had private rooms available. The Internet told me that rooms at Queen Ayola would be 6 USD, so I came here after Moab once I discovered that Moab could only offer me a private for 25 JD/night! Unfortuatnely, Queen Ayola Hotel does not have typical bunk-bed dorms you'd expect. When I asked for the cheapest room, she gave me her private room rate. I had to show her a screenshot of the page on booking.com (and she had to make a phone call) for her to accept my 5 JD for a room. To my surprise, the room just had 3 beds (no bunk beds). To my surprise, this place has no lockers! I travel with a tent, and I have no issues sleeping out. The most important reason I book a hostel is so that I can lock up my posessions and explore the town without the weight on my back. Like most backpackers, I travel with a padlock so I can lock up my stuff in the provided lockers. But this place has no lockers! In response to my shock, the receptionist told me I could have a key to the room. Then, she discovered, there _is_ no key to the room. She assured me the room was just to myself so there would be no issues, but an hour later someone was laying in the bed next to mine! So don't expect security from this place.. Also, this place has a kitchen, but you're not allowed to use it! When I checked-in, I asked the receptionist where the kitchen was. I was pointed to a very nice kitchen. After dropping my stuff in my room (still lugging around my laptop because of the above-mentioned lack-of-security issue), I went to go buy some rice. Later that night, I started to cook the rice, and the new receptionist kept asking me if I needed any help. Eventually, he got angry and told me I wasn't allowed to cook rice in his kitchen, and that I should pay 2 JD for using it! After some time on the phone with the owner, I learned that--apparently--this "Queen Ayola Hotel & Resturant" (as it says on the menus and on the sign) is actually two distinct businesses. Nevermind that the hotel uses the kitchen to server breakfast. Nevermind that the receptionist who said I was using his resturant's kitchen was later checking-in other guests into the hotel. I don't understand the lines of these businesses, but it certainly looks like it's all the same to me. tl;dr no lockers. no kitchen for guest use. If you're a backpacker, avoid this place.

We wanted to leave the hotel at 5 am - unfortunately it was impossible because the main doors were locked. There was an information that the receptionist can be found in room no.1 so I knocked on the door and woke up a poor tourist. When the owner came (at 7 am) he refused to talk with us about this situation and just disappeared. He and his employee were extremely unpleasant. Location is great, there is working AC in the rooms, but overall I would never recommend going there.

I stayed in a dorm with two beds which was a positive surprise as it was supposed to be 3-beds dorm. The location is perfect, right in the city center, close to all attractions. The room was very cheap (5JOD). And that’s all when it comes to advantages. Bathroom is shared but you cannot lock it. There was no water coming from the shower only from the small tap below it. The water was cold. You do not receive a key to the room, when you leave it stays open. Furniture in the room are old, closet was locked, carpets were dirty. There were so many mosquitos in the room that I couldn’t sleep. And I had to pay for breakfast even though my reservation said it is included… Owner is very helpful when it comes to booking tours or transportation. Not very helpful when it comes to advise how to travel on budget (he claimed there is no uber in the city and that hitchhiking would be impossible - both turned out to be easy to do in Madaba). If you have a choice, stay somewhere else.

I concur with the post 2 posts below: not clear why this place gets such good reviews. Run-down place without love. The sink (and the rest probably neither) hasn’t been scrubbed for a while; water leaking through the floor in the bathroom causing a musty smell; no sheets for blankets. Even for a budget place this was not acceptable. The beer was cold and tasty though and breakfast of good standard.

We only used the bar and restaurant here but really liked it. The owners were friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and we had some Mount Nebo wine (alcohol isn't served very widely in Jordan). Recommended.
