An amazing fun relaxing vacation. Thank you for great hosting, excellent breakfast, great staff, welcoming reception and relaxing massages. Beautiful Ein Karem , beautiful Jerusalem... So romantic and charming. We loved it !!!!
I made a reservation and and paid for a deluxe room for 2 nights. When booking I specially asked for a room with no or few stairs. This was confirmed. On arrival my room was not available and I was shown a room that was only reachable via lots of stairs. I was given a second option of a deluxe room but this definitely not a deluxe but a standard. The manager insisted it was. With regards to the manager Amir. He was the most rude and unpleasant person I have come across in many years. In fact he was that horrendous that I really wanted to leave and go home. I asked to cancel my booking and he refused and wanted to charge me 2000 shekels for a sub standard room. All in all a terrible experience and I would not recommend the hotel to anyone.
l'll start with the ONLY redeeming features of this hotel which are the Ein Karem location, the lovely stone hotel building itself and the beautiful landscaped grounds. My husband and I were gifted a 2 night romantic stay in a "deluxe suite'" at the Alegra Boutique hotel Firstly, in my opinion, some of the photos of the rooms on the website are misleading and certainly misrepresent the reality of the rooms that we were offered. Also in my view, the high room price for our room was unjustified. On our arrival we didn't find the receptionist to be very warm or hospitable. She led us from the main building to an annexe and to a very small dingy room, overlooking a back street. I appreciate boutique hotels are quirky but this was ridiculously small, there was nowhere to put or hang our clothes. We were very disappointed and asked to change to a different room. This alternative room was in the main building and a little better but still very small, no closet space, cramped and poorly designed . The toilet/shower had an open glass partition separating it from the bed area so it wasn't very private. There was no shelf to place our toiletries except for on the window sill of the shower so they got wet. Secondly, I found the hotel staff to be unhelpful and arrogant, with a poor attitude. One example, our stay included a "chef meal" but since the pandemic, guests are compensated with a meal voucher at a local restaurant . We asked the receptionist the name and location etc of the restaurant she told us "look it up on Google", when we asked to have a written voucher, she said she didn't have an official one, so she took out a "post it " note and put the stamp on it. So amateurish and unprofessional. My husband complained to her about her attitude, then later she came to our room with the proper voucher and said" you don't talk like that to someone who is ill!" Two staff members at breakfast were pleasant but as a whole we felt that we were an inconvenience to the staff there. I feel so strongly about this negative experience which upset what should have been an enjoyable and pampering stay that I just had to share our experience. I have stayed in many hotels over the years but this was by far the most unwelcoming hotel I have ever been in.…
Ein Karem is beautiful, but do yourself a favor and stay in another hotel ! I have booked the most expensive suite for the weekend. Unfortunately the room we got did not look like the room I had booked. When complaining at the reception, the person there told me it was a known problem but, the room I booked was already given to someone else. As it was already Friday afternoon and I did not want to let my wife down, I agreed to take the available room even though it was clearly not worth the price I paid, since I was promised that the person who was in charge, Amir, would compensate me with a discount. Amir who was at the reception when we checked out the next day, was found as a very rude person. He was shouting at me in front of other guests and his team that it was my responsibility to provide the room number when I made the booking... I was trying to explain I have selected a specific room with a certain picture that was looking completely different but in vain, and eventually, we left the hotel very frustrated.…
