Just returned home from a five night break at this hotel and was pleasantly surprised. Perfectly situated close to all main attractions, rooms tastefully decorated and kept spotlessly clean friendly and helpful staff and of course the varied buffet breakfast. If I visit Istanbul in the future will definitely be staying at this hotel

We truly appreciate the outstanding customer service that the staff has provided. They are quick to provide support whenever you have issues and/or wishes, especially the personnel who clean the room and Ece as she has always been very attentive and helpful. Their kind gesture and hospitality has always been beyond satisfaction. We truly feel like a guest and not just a regular customer at Avicenna Hotel :)

Overall a great experience, I would definitely recommend this place to others.

4 night stay in Room 104. Comfy bed, decent shower and a little tired but added to the charm. Safe broken and failed to fix it but just had to carry valuables around with passport. No big deal. Hanger shortage that was not rectified but gave up asking. Staff were all friendly enough but case of too many chiefs not enough Indians. Little balcony off the room. Breakfast very good and staff there excellent.
Rooftop restaurant very good with a wonderful view over the Bosphorus.
Location is superb in the Sultanahmet region within a very short walk of the Blue Mosque and Hippodrome, the Hagia Sophia €25 euro entrance fee(well worth it although I felt strongly that you shouldn’t have to pay to go into a place of worship)
Basically you go round the upper floors looking into this magnificent building.
A little further north is the Topkapi Palace which is wonderful.
The Basilica Cistern is also between the 2 mosques. A little hard to find the entrance as it’s around the corner to the exit but a brilliant underground water labyrinth.
The area near the Galatea bridge is great and try the fish sandwich served from boats on the quayside. Very nice watching the world go by.
Nearby is the spice market, new mosque and Süleymaniye mosque.
Over the bridge go visit the Galatea tower and walk the shopping street Istiklal avenue to Taksim Square.
We also did a day cruise and boat trip from the hotel. Goes over to Asia. You visit the Beylerbeyi palace which is a highlight and go up to Turkeys biggest mosque Çamlıca. Breakfast and lunch provided and coaches from hotels and to attractions not on the river. You finish at Pierre Loti for a great view and cable car ride down. Wonderful trip. Would definitely recommend the hotel

Worst hotel in sultanahmet, manager on duty don’t care (Elif) and reception staff (Serhat- tall with curly hair) has the worst attitude, dirty bedding which has not been changed in days, bathroom shower filthy and grimy, dust under beds is so thick and can see it has not been swept for long time, I had to first show them the video that I took before they would sweep under beds, service is so bad. They don’t replenish toiletries, toilet paper, tea, coffee and water for the kettle. I showed the manager what the kettle looks like inside, it was unbelievable that a kettle for what they promote themselves as 4 star hotel was so filthy. I had to tell the manager to have it cleaned inside. The aircon made a huge noise when it got stuck
The tall curly haired reception guy was so rude, fighting over 64 lira when 500ml water outside hotel costs 3 lira. I’ve never seen someone back chat and argue with a customer the way I’ve seen this guy does.

The only best thing about this hotel is staff, such as the breakfast team ( Turgai, Osgur, serhet, Baki amx Furkaan) we’re amazing in that breakfast room every morning

Then another outstanding person was Yusuf, who gave the best service, very humble and always had a smile on his face
The owner should thank these staff who made a huge difference and replace the bad apples. They seriously need to replace the cleaning company or educate them on how to clean hotels
This hotel is far from 4 star, it ia 2 star and less

Please don’t waste your good money on this place, it sucks and is very unhygienic and unhealthy

I booked a trip to Istanbul for 12 nights with my Mrs and 1 year old baby. Nick at Away Holidays suggested Avicenna hotel, he said its 4 star. I specifically asked him is there a swimming pool in the hotel and he said yes. When we went there the guy at reception says your booking starts after a week. I showed him the paperwork and then after making calls he checked us in. Avicenna Hotel and room was awful 2 star. Thousands of ants in the room with my baby crawling here and there. My baby had to sleep on the sofa, they didn't provide anything. Bathroom towels had holes in them. There was kettle and tea cups in the room but they didn't provide any tea, sugar, coffee and milk. When i asked they said we don't do it. For included breakfast in their own hotel, they only provided milk for tea once in 5 days. Whenever i asked for milk for my tea, they said we don't do milk. There was no swimming pool either. Is this 4 star hotel i paid for, no milk for tea during breakfast, no tea, sugar, coffee and milk in the room? I rented out a car but Avicenna hotel didn't even let me park for an hour in their parking in front of the hotel. I had to keep parking elsewhere. I could only stay 5 nights due to poor health and safety of my baby and lack of facilities. I had to book and paid for a better hotel nearby for remaining nights. I sent many emails to Nick and customer services at Away Holidays but not a single reply.

Awful 1* hotel at best with serious security issues … dilapidated, needs a refurb, weak water pressure in shower, noisy rooms 203 and 204 with 3x air con condensers stacked on the small balcony between both rooms. Weirdly behaved young Turkish men in their 20s employed as room cleaners - who didn’t clean rooms (sketchily) until 5pm or not at all, nor replace the single toilet roll left each day. We had to beg reception for replacements loo rolls... Patchy WiFi only accessible by continuingly inputting your PASSPORT number in addition to surname & room number (despite passport copies being taken at checkin). Restaurant staff don’t speak English & got our credit card blocked as hotel has a limit of lira 1,900 (GBP55) per transaction (really for. 4 star hotel?) but wanted another card to make 3 separate charges to make up the lira 4,100 bill.

Would give this hotel zero stars if I could.
I visit Istanbul nearly every year with my family and we have always had a really good experience with all the hotels, until now.
My husband had not been to Istanbul therefore wanted to see it so he booked this hotel unfortunately.
It was not like the pictures shown on the website, I have attached the pictures of the room as it was given to us.
They did provide room service but none of the items were replenished unless we asked, the A/C would rattle loudly like it was going to fall off the wall and would keep cutting off after a little while, the electricity would keep cutting off in our room, we informed the staff many times and they said it might be the ONE key card they had given us but did nothing to change it, another couple were also complaining about their room similar situation to us at the reception desk.
Also the room we were given was in the basement two floors down and the reception/WiFi was very poor there.
The hotel was really noisy especially at early hours of the morning people would be banging doors, talking loudly, including the porter and stomping up and down the stairs, even though there was a DO NO DISTURB SIGN outside the door/s.
The breakfast was not good at all and we had to eat out despite it being included in the holiday package.
The cushions had stains on them, and the decor was old, dusty, I would wake up with swollen eyes due to dust allergy, the walls in the room were chipped. The bathroom wall had holes and the wash basin was cracked, the shower hose totally broke off on the first day of use.
The only thing this hotel has going for itself is the location, but there are many better, cleaner hotels in the surrounding area so you are better off saving your money and going elsewhere as we won't be staying at this hotel again and have also told our family/ friends that visit Istanbul not to book this hotel.

Apart from a good temp porter by the name Bilal, overall was a terrible stay. Starting from checkin, the front desk was rude and disregard our room allocation plan. We have our mother travelling with us and we want to make sure that she is located on the ground floor, they insisted that we follow their room arrangements.

The most disgusting thing that any hotel can have is dishonest staff or maybe this is their modus operandi by scamming their guests. They will charge you for drinks in the mini bar that you don't consume (make sure if you have to stay here, have them count what is in there in front of you when you first enter the room) and the biggest of them all, they will say that a cup or a glass is missing from your room. 200 TLR is not that much but having to cheat for it is a disgrace. We tip the porter well because he was friendly and was sincerely concern about us. Stay away from this disgraceful hotel.

We booked this holiday before we read the reviews and were worried, but clearly we were wrong to worry. This place is fab and a proper gem. It may not be 4* as us Brits or Europeans may think but I can only speak from our experience and after 5 days, not one problem and the staff, all of them have been exceptionally great. Room very clean and new mattress - yes we checked everything when we arrived. Lol. You absolutely must visit the upstairs restaurant on a Saturday night. We were the only non Turkish people there and had a blast. On our night the place was packed with 2 people celebrating birthdays, an engagement and a wedding party. Very loud, but worth it and food great with local music, belly dancing and entertainment. All staff were very attentive and polite. We stayed on the 2nd floor and while some things in the room needed a look, such as a dodgy shower head, we can not complain about anything. We finished our break with drinks on the roof looking out over the Asian side. Breakfast may have been the same every day but with over 50 things to choose from all was great and no complaints from us. Do sit out the front and people watch late in the evening when you return home. The street is the most unique and beautiful place with great food all around you.Do book a room on 2nd floor. Don't get drawn in to bars nearby where beers are twice as expensive as elsewhere. The upstairs roof bar is perfect. Overall our experience was superb. The staff amazing including day and especially overnight staff. Loved our trip to Istanbul

We were very satisfied with our choice to stay at your Hotel. We felt very comfortable and we were assisted by Hamza who really took care of all our needs especially the luggage being on the first floor. The location is ideal for anyone looking for a authentic traditional hotel within walking distance of the Blue Mosque Thank you to the Team. From the three sisters Mariam Khadija and Zubeda.

I booked 6 nights there and left after one night stay. Absolutely filthy, mouldy noisy. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. An inexpensive hotel in the same area is the Mevlana Hotel. Rooms are small but excellent and the staff is super.. and loved the restaurant on the top floor.. great food and inexpensive. For something a little more upscale, there is the Amiral Palace.. Spectacular service, and spotless, great breakfasts too.. restuaurant for dinner... no... a little more expensive, but in my view... one of the nicest... best of luck, but for me the Avecinna Hotel is not even a 2 star....

Actually the location is little tricky. And no bus stop close to the hotel. It’s located at a touristic crowded area full of Coffeeshops, hotels and restaurants. I would recommend to take the airport shuttle to a nearby point like Eminonu then take a taxi to the hotel from there.
