My 3-night stay at this hotel exceeded my expectations, as I rather enjoyed the location. It’s close to nice restaurants and the main streets that cut through Bishkek. The room is very large and clean, we had no issues. The WiFi was working very well throughout the stay with no interruptions in service. The breakfast is pretty weak, but minor setback in my opinion.

It is conveniently located near the centre of Bishkek. Yo can walk to many of the central city places like Paniflov Park, the Erkindek gallery and others. The staff are helpful. Breakfast is available from 0800. The rooms are generous and we were able to do work there. Internet was also good.

The Silk Road Lodge is a very well run hotel. Their prices are very reasonable, both the rooms and the meals. (I asked for the $75 single, and the only room they had available was a suite, which they offered to me for $85). The rooms are very comfortable and feel new and modern. The staff is extremely competent and friendly. The business center has long hours and good internet access. There is a pool in the basement. Nice touches during my stay: for $5, I rented two movies and a VCR, which was taken up to my room and connected to the TV; when I left for the airport at 4:30 a.m., I went down the kitchen and found, as requested, a cup of coffee waiting for me, along with a packed breakfast. The free pick up and drop off at the airport is a nice touch. The check in procedure during my second visit consisted of their handing me the room key-card. The hotel is not large and not does not feel impersonal, nor does it feel like a western chain plonked down in the middle of Bishkek. I would definitely stay here on my next trip and recomend it to anyone. After the Soviet style sanitarium in Almaty, it felt like heaven!

I came to work in Bishkek and shortly after arrival picked up a chest infection and had to stay at SIlk Road Lodge longer than I anticipated. It is no fun being sick away from home, but I found that, from the manager to cleaning and other support staff, everyone did their best to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel offers a good buffet breakfast and has a varied menu for a la carte dishes. Make sure to ask for expresso coffee at breakfast otherwise you will be given ordinary instant coffee. There is a small gym area around a swimming pool together with a sauna which staff will put on for you with an hours notice. The hotel also provides a free pick up service to and from the airport, which was a great service particularly if you arrive in the early hours of the morning and first time to the country. It is quite central and a short walk from the city center. It was possible to organise internet and laundry services within the room rate. I would recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Bishkek.

I stayed 4 nights at the Silk Road Lodge, having been recommended it by UN staff. It is certainly the best accommodation I have used in Bishkek in the five times I have been here. It does have its quirks including a rickety lift (elevator, for Americans) and a rather greasy and very limited offering for breakfast. However, the airport pick-up and drop-off is excellent; the rooms, especially the de luxe one I had, are large and very comfortable; tea and coffee and fridge in the room; and very good room service. the staff were friendly and very helpful. Wireless internet access is Euro4 a day and a very helpful woman from the business centre comes to your room to set up your laptop. Internet speed is fine - actually I am using it now to write this review. Perhaps the best point is the location. At first look, it seems to be in an isolated side road, but is in fact only two blocks from Chui Prospect, the main thoroughfare through Bishkek. So it is only 10 minutes walk from UN House; a little less to Beta Stores where you can buy almost anything you want. Just around teh corner are some excellent Kyrgyz restaurants, such as the Azul. I was charged Euro105 for the room - good value, and certainly far better than the big hotels. you can find cheaper, but you have to suffer Soviet style service and dreadful rooms. I liked it and will use it again. Warning: it is pretty heavily booked and only has 25 or so rooms.

We stayed here in July 2014 and stayed there 4 nights. It is in a perfect central location for embassies and good supermarket at easy walking distance, secure parking, down a quiet lane. Staf are friendly. The rooms look a little tired, but the beds were comfortable and room and bathroom clean. The gardens are incredible - full of flowers - a real little oasis. There is a restaurant which produces good simple food at rasonable rates. There is also a very useful and helpful 'business centre' - an office with PCs and laptops and a library. Would return there.

I first stayed at the Silk Road Lodge in late 2004 and over the years I have come back at least three or four times. It certainly remains one of my favourite hotels in the city. Most of all, I like its friendly informal nature, the lovely terrace and garden, its very good restaurant and central location. The hotel will also put on airport-hotel transfers free of cost, which is pretty rare these days.

Despite these plus elements to the hotel, the rooms are probably now in need of a facelift, as other reviewers have suggested. A change of furnishing and a fresh lick of paint on the walls would definitely brighten up the rooms and bring them into this current decade. Nevertheless, the Silk Road Lodge remains a pretty decent establishment.

We stayed here a couple of nights in August 2011 as part of trip to central Asia.

We had room 23 (see pics): it was large, bright and clean. It had TV (old), air con, fridge, hair dryer. Had no problems with the hot water. The décor was nothing special, but not offensive. The staff were friendly. The breakfast buffet was a bit eclectic, but did the job. Overall I rather liked it.
