The breakfast is quite good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. You can get a local SIM card from the desk for all of $3

It's not far from things but hardly close. Not much in the immediate area at all. Wifi was patchy. The building is very Soviet era, and not in a good way. Room was cramped. They are doing footpath work in the whole neighbourhood so only gravel uneven paths to get anywhere

A little but charmingly dated. Rooms are large and have high ceilings. Breakfast is acceptable. The restaurant is surprisingly good. Beers (local) are 2-3 USD for 500 ml. Good value. 2 to 3 USD taxi to centre of town. Staff mostly good. A nice place to stay in Bishkek.

The hotel is a bit tired but has some old-world charm. The outdoor pool was a really nice amenity. There are plenty of outdoor seating areas as well as a small gym area. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the center. My biggest complaint is with reception. Some employees were very sweet, others could use some improvement.

I'm a grad student crashing in Bishkek while my Tajik visa is renewed. I found Rich Hotel online on another website (google central asia hotels). While two different booking sites were unable to process my reservation, I showed up at 11pm off a flight and got a room immediately. The cost for a single "suite" is $55 per night. I'll be switching to the Bishkek Guesthouse (recc by a friend) after tonight for a single room at $12 a night with shared bathroom to save cash.

The managers/bartenders are Russian and speak okay English but are very friendly, especially the one with black hair. The desk attendant at night and the service staff don't speak English but are also very nice - smile back when I do and call the manager immediately if someone needs something in English. Regardless, this place is pretty cool. Very eclectic decorating - a little bit goth-ey and random, but clean and interesting.

The room I got (Room #1, a single suite on the first floor) is very clean (despite a few barely noticeable but very long cracks in the crisp white paint) and has a couch, bed, desk, satellite TV, air conditioning and a nice bathroom with hot water, water pressure and a western toilet. After a month of homestay in Dushanbe all were highly appreciated.

The bed is really firm but I had a great nights' sleep on it regardless. The only English channel I could find was Bloomberg business TV. Lots of channels in Russian and Persian as well as a lot from Europe and the Middle East.

The bar/restaurant is beyond the front desk and is also very interestingly decorated. A little "Liberacci's gothic brother." There are at least six TVs in here and they have been playing American music videos all day. There are a bunch of outlets around and free wifi which works well in the bar which is nice for travellers with computers. (I was barely getting a single bar in the room, which is a bit annoying but I could have come out to the bar...)

There is no menu that I know of, but the manager/bartender listed for me their foods when I asked for breakfast today at around 11am; they included various omlettes, rice prridge, semolina porridge and a few other things. As in most central asian countries, the "sausage" omelett is made with a bologna-like meat product, but it's not bad. The omelett itself was very good; it had a lot of parsley on top. The OJ was also very good - seemed like fresh and not packaged but I'm not sure. Coffee only comes in very small cups, but a French press of tea is available. Also out for the taking is a plate of fresh fruit and some coiled up fried wontons which were good, and the manager brought me a free glass of fruit iced tea after my third pot of hot tea.

Overall, in a night's stay and a day holed up in the restaurant/bar doing school stuff on my computer (I haven't yet seen the fitness center or pool so I can't comment), this place is a great hotel to stay at in Bishkek. For 1/4 to 1/6 the price of the Hyatt, I think it's a great deal and I'm not sure what besides more commercial decor and stronger wifi reception in the bedroom a more expensive hotel could offer.

Hope this was helpful.
-J

The location of Hotel Rich is convenient within 10 min walking distance from many og the main attractions in Bishkek, including the Osh bazaar. Rooms are nice and clean, but be aware that construction work is ongoing (October 2014). Ask for a room situated on the opposite side of the building! The staff did not speak english very good, but at least they were trying to help you. Good value for money.

The Rich Hotel is a 2 to 3 Star hotel 10 minutes walk away from the centre of Bishkek. During our stay the staff were helpful and generally English speaking personnel were available at the front desk. Do expect anything other than a basic hotel experience. There are no lifts, Wifi is low powered, and rooms modest and modestly furnished.
On the other hand the hotel is clean and a convenience store is attached.

My wife and I have spent 3 nights there at the end of our stay.
Overall it's not been great experience: the rooms are pretty small and smell tobacco, the service is not great, and the prices are not that cheap for Bishkek.
Breakfast is very disappointing, poor quality.
Swimming pool could be a plus but is dirty.
We have booked taxi with them on the last night (the plan was to leave the hotel at 4am) and the taxi arrived with 20mn of delay and the only explanation they gave us is "relax sir!"
Only positive aspects, located in quiet place and nice terrace

Spent one night at this hotel. It does not feel a four star hotel, but rooms are good size and comfortable.
Breakfast buffet was quite good as well.
Hotel neighbourhood seems to be nice and safe.
In general, the hotel is comfy but not impressive.

I gave that hotel note excellent, why? Everything in this place is good, cleanity, sleeping quality, staff, room equipment. Just everything. You can change your money into local currency there, there is a little shop in the same building and bigger one close. There is a pool, free wi-fi, breakfast included. There is only one thing, the hotel should improve, staff could be a little bit more smiling, not as official as possible.
