Sakura's mum, the owner of the guesthouse, is a truly lovely lady! She is very knowledgable about Bishkek, is vey helpful, friendly, is always available, speaks at least English, Russian, Kyrgyzian, and Japanese fluently, and runs an honest, respectable guesthouse. All theprivate and dorm rooms are clean and presentable, showers are fantastic, everything is tidy, and there is a lovely outdoor area/garden for relaxing in, which is rare for a central city location! During the summer months, the number of guests can be quite high, so it can be quite noisy in the evenings, but that's normal for any more backpacker guesthouse in any country! For me, it was the nicest affordable place to stay in Bishkek, and with my work there, I have visited many! Would highly reccomend :)
On the bikepacking trip we were mostly concerned about our bikes' safty. We were received by the lovely hostess, who speaks multipal languages. We were allowed to keep our bikes in the garden under the roof, what made us very happy. Sakura guest house was clean and tidy. It has an equipped kitchen where you can cook, eat and store food and beautiful garden with two large roofed garden tables. It was awesome to wake up in the morning and have a cup of coffee in the garden. The location is superb! A walking distance to the main avenues and best sites. But despite the closeness to the busy streets staying there felt safe, cosy and peaceful.
For 8$ you get a good bed, a nice terrace outside, a small kitchen, a pool-ish contraption, clean toilets and warm showers. The hostel management is not very talkative but you can get travel advice if you ask directly. Some of the dorms don't have curtains, I slept in the one-floor side building which is quiet and cool.
Was not impressed when staff suggested asking other travellers when simple travel advice was requested. The (female) owner was more helpful but not friendly. Nevertheless the facilities were good and clean, including a small kitchen and outdoor seating area. The dorm room only had 6 beds and there were lockers under the bed. The city centre is also within walking distance.
Very very very clean. The owner is a Japanese lady and she keeps the entire place in a perfect condition. There is a highly secured entrance door and a personal locker under each bed which makes things safe. It is very peaceful and quiet place for a very good price! I highly recommend this place although the only annoying thing is the angry dog and he barks sometimes in the middle of the night but I guess they keep him there for more security. The location of this hostel is at the centre and vlose to everything and all the main bus stops.
We stayed in a double bedroom in Sakura Guest house for a few days in June. The price is really good for the quality of beds and the space for the room. There is a small kitchen but still you can cook. Also there is a small supermarket near the guest house and 2 shops where you can buy samsas when you are too lazy to cook. The guesthouse is not in the centre of the city but everything is faisible by foot or mashrutka. Also there is a room where you can let your big backpack and go explore the rest of the country with few of your stuff! No air conditioning but there are fans available! It is a place where you will find a lot of backpackers, the atmosphere is nice and you can exchange tips for the rest of your travel.
The guesthouse is interesting. Cheap, clean and friendly. There is a little kitchen for cooking which is appreciable. However, I stayed there for 24 nights (I was learning Russian in bishkek) and the owner refused a discount ... that is very not usual and in a very unfriendly way.
Just for 550som you get a comfort bed in a spotless dormitory. Showers and toilets are also very clean. There is a nice garden and a small kitchen with fridge. Perhaps, it's not so easy to find, but it isn't far from the center. The lady and the girl from the guesthouse were so kind. Some people may find annoying the fact that there are no curtains on the windows and the imam's call from the nearby mosque at the peep of day.
Great value. It is clean, tidy and comfy. It is hard to find something like that in Bishkek. Most of lodging in this city is not neat. Sakura has been recently renovated. Actual price is 1400 SOM for 2 person room and 550 SOM for the dorm. Small kitchen and some yard are the places to socialise. There is lots of people there.
I would like to call this guesthouse a hostel, since it looks like a hostel and it feels like a hostel. It has a nice garden to hang around when you want to rest for one or two days. The rooms are very clean and the bathroom / toilets too. The kitchen could be a bit more equipped, but since we brought our own plates etc, this was no problem. Thanks for your hospitality!
