I was there with my partner to experience dinner meal on my friends’ recommendation. But, despite the stunning rooftop view, the price was unreasonably high considering the quality of the food and drinks we received. There are also some restaurants in the area where you may obtain pretty great quality of cuisine for the same price or less. The expensive cost is only offset by the excellent service provided by the staffs, and Kiet (Kevin) from the reception stood out in this regard. We arrived at the front desk to request the room check after researching the accommodation price on the internet and we met Kiet. Even though it was really busy at that time, Kiet was able to organize his job so that he could show us the rooms and that ended up being one of the most memorable hotel tours we've ever had. He showed us every room we requested in short amount of time with his smile always on his face and went back to work. The hotel has a rich history and is situated in the heart of the city with warm welcome from staffs. Rex Hotel is a must for you if you enjoy historical architecture and French colonial accommodations.…
I have stayed at this hotel many times and at all times the staff have been very helpful and professional. The rooms are always in an immaculate condition and the house staff are always willing to assist with any problems. Highly recommended
I first stayed at the Rex Hotel in 1997, when visiting Saigon and this hotel felt like taking a step back in time to the days before the end of the American War in 1975. It felt like very little had changed in 22 years, and I could image journalists dashing to the Five O'Clock Follies and off-duty soldiers relaxing beside the rooftop swimming pool. I stopped staying earlier this century because couldn't guarantee I would get a street-facing room, and didn't want to look into an internal courtyard. I just returned for my fifth or six stay in February 2023 and was allocated a Rex Suite on the third floor facing Le Loi Steet. The Rex has now changed a little, thanks to extensive additions that added dozens of rooms to the inventory as well as a second pool and swag of ground-level shops, but the vibe remains exactly the same. The staff are agreeable and offer an elevated level of service expected in 2023, but it is still genuinely bygone in style. It was a delight returning to the Rex Hotel, and I appreciated the mid-century interiors matched with modern service. Breakfast was a tad limited for a westerner expecting cereal, the gym well-equiped, and the new swimming pool just big enough. F&B prices are elevated in the rooftop restaurant, but guests are paying for the view and history. I will return, as a well-priced stay promising a touch of whimsy that prompts the imagination to ponder history is now a rare treat.…
From the moment we walked in, we could tell this was a hotel run by the government. First thing, they asked us for our visas in order to process the check-in. I have never had to show a visa at a hotel before, and I've been all over the world. As with any government employees, service wasn't the best, not at check in, not at the restaurants nor pool terrace, not even the bellboys. Internet is terrible, we were given log/pass for a red that didn't work and had to use our own data. It wasn't until day 3 we were told there was a different red that more or less worked. The housekeeping service also bad, dirty room floors, bathroom, small cheap bath towels... I could go on and on. There are many great 5 stars hotels in Saigon, whether is western hotels or local ones BUT this one should be avoided. I will not get into politics but big brother may even be watching every move. …
We came back this hotel second time after few years since last time. The room was not as nice (less spacious) than that of we had in 2019 despite we booked in the same type of room. However, the breakfast was always excellent with varieties of dishes and all were delicious and were presented in a very appealing display. One morning during our stay, we looked for sticky rice (Xôi) and the Chef, Mr. Tuấn, went out of his way to bring one to us (he went to the restaurant on the first floor to request it for us). He also introduced special dishes for each day and we appreciated that a great deal. The whole serving staff at breakfast area were all very courteous and hard working.
I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past, and I elected to stay here for a week in Jan 2023 right before the lunar new year. The hotel right in the center of district 1 and closer to many things that are convenient for travelers. The hotel is sparkling clean and the hotel personnel are very professional and the breakfast buffet is excellent. During the days leading to the Lunar New Year, the whole area was decorated with flowers and many activities just outside the hotel. I strongly recommend the hotel for travelers who would enjoy nice things and would feel 100% safe.
For the price, location and historical aspects of this hotel, I really can’t complain. But unfortunately for the sake of this review, we had just come from a 4 star, modern and fantastic hotel with exceptional service and had expectations that The Rex would be our 5 star, old luxury stay for the remainder of our holiday. We expected the rooms to be the way they were in pictures and were happy with the space and cleanliness of it, but the service was a bit lacking, the pool was worn out and even the room service and housekeeping were not close to what we had experienced at our 4 star hotel in saigon. I also found that the Spa/massage staff were a little indifferent and didn’t want to be there. I may have rated this hotel higher if it were advertised as a 3.5 star hotel, because if it were any other Holiday Inn or standard hotel, I would have been fine to stay here on the first half of my family trip and end the holiday with more 5 star luxury as I had planned.…
One of the best hotel in Ho Chi Minh, I went to Vietnam for business trip, the hotel is strategically located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh. Easy public transport, specious room, friendly staff and designers shop on the ground floor ie Chanel, Charlotte Tributti, Selvatore Ferragamo, Rolex and many more. For muslim traveller, more than 7 halal restaurant within walking distant (within 10 to 15 min walking). In general, I would recommend this hotel, even the interior are not updated, but they keep it tidy and clean. One of must try hotel in Ho Chi Minh. Stay there for 4 nights.
when i have a free time. my co- worker recommanded me to stay @ rex hotel. so i was moved to the this hotel from sofitel . as i co-worked told me that i can visit all historical place and shopping mall by walk. and also can easy to go PCR Test center.
I have had time to think about weather or not to do this but I feel it’s only right to inform future guest. I read all these reviews where people were staying here and that it was clean and luxurious… maybe it was a secret room or section we missed. The lobby feels luxurious, but once you walk past all the designer stores and head to the lift, it all changes. The hallways leading to your room stink of cigarette and all the furniture and decor looks old and unclean. The bedrooms are not great, as it’s very very dated and not maintained well. The bathroom was the same level as a 3 star we stayed at in rural Vietnam. The buffet breakfast as below average. It reminded me of a rsl buffet back in Aus. The pools are a joke! It’s tidy and is not at a level of a 5 star. The staff aren’t very friendly when breakfast or even just the cafe area. Plus, it’s very expensive for a sub-par meal. If you are wanting something 5 star, definitely look at something else.…
