we got probably the worst of the rooms because obviously they started to clean the other rooms. unfortunately we discovered sand in the bed and hair that were not from us. other then that the room had a strong smell from the long period of not being ventilated.
after comlaining the staff offered another room of the same category. unfortunately we discovered again sand in the bed. because it was short before midnight the front desk lady offered us a room in a higher category. that room was ok and clean but the experience we had didnt convince us to stay for the whole booking so we checked out in the morning. the front desk manager refunded the second night without any problems and he was also very sorry for what happened. in general the staff was very friendly and couteous. but the management should have taken the break as a chance and not as a burden.
The breakfast is modest and now costs an additional 200 baht; the food ran out towards the end of the breakfast opening.
The rooms on the 4th and 5th floor are better than those lower which are close to the shops and stalls immediately below.
There are much better value options nearby with rooms that have been updated.
Upon arrival I tried to pay using my MC-branded Thai SCB ATM card, but they would not accept it because my name isn’t on the card (even though it requires a PIN). This is the first time I have ever encountered this objection. I asked where the nearest SCB ATM was and they had no idea, so I had a sweaty trudge to find one (after a full day of traveling) and withdraw the full amount of the bill before I could check in. Odd attitude in a place now desperate for visitors and where those likely to be staying will be like me, foreign nationals on work permits with local bank accounts (tourists are still barred from entering Thailand).
If I do come back to Pattaya I’ll be staying elsewhere.
Breakfast was ok, not much variety. Hard bed.. Overall will never return to this hotel again
