I was welcomed by Khun Ton and he still delivered the recognition to IHG member even I checked in at late night. We know that the hotel is old but the room was spacious and clean. I have no issue with the room and quality of sleep. My room on the top floor gave me the best view of Chiang Mai in the morning. The only downside is that the treadmills at the gym have no emergency stop clip (only 1 out of 4 has it). Also, the chemical cleaner for users to clean the equipment after use by themselves is dissapear. Especially this pandemic time that people are concern about cleanliness, the management should consider providing it. Anyways, the hotel is surrounded by several local stalls and markets which you can find local foods within 1 minute wlaking.

Have been several times and always satisfied. The rooms are large and comfortably furnished. The breakfast buffet is varied and well stocked. The pool is never crowded, and big enough for a real swim, and the gym has all the equipment you could ask for. I like the location which is a little outside of the main tourist area of the walled city. There are plenty of small restaurants serving a range of dishes, and a useful market. For several years I had an annual physical at the hospital across the street, and was treated quickly for an injury at very low cost. Next to the hospital and just across the stteet is a little cafe that serves the best mixed berry I have had anywhere in the world. All the staff are courteous and helpful. Plenty of golf coursed around and the staff will provide a cheap ride and pick up. Altogether I'm looking forward to my next post Covid visit.

We stayed here for 5 nights. It seems we were upgraded to a “Deluxe” room but I am not certain. In any event the room was spacious and while some aspects of it appeared quite elderly, overall it was perfectly pleasant.
The hotel seems to cater mainly for Koreans meaning the breakfast is certainly oriented that way to the point one morning the entire breakfast area was set with forks and spoons only, not a knife to be seen. Spreading butter and marmalade on your toast with a spoon is not a straightforward task.
Breakfast seemed to be busier the earlier you went. As I mentioned it’s popular with the Korean golf crowd so if you wish to see a large number of middle aged Korean ladies in short skirts and knee high socks get there early.
The hotel is not central, we didn’t ever walk to the city gates/walls, a Grab taxi was generally about 100 baht, a Tuk Tuk, well that depends on bargaining powers.
All in all a decent place to stay.

The location right on the Ping river also adds a lot to the overall experience. We will definitely come back.

We have came so many times to this hotel. Since different hotel chains have took over.
Standard size of the rooms are humongous, surely the biggest in Chiang mai.
Location is not the best but there are many ways to reach the center of the city by red truck or tuktuk.
We always try to experience, different hotels but when things get last minute, Holiday Inn has 3XX rooms and still is a very good option and good value for money. We alway find a room there.
Breakfast is quite nice, products are average cannot distinguesh itself for the quality but sufficient for a standard breakfast, more than enough to say the least.
Staff is very well trained and super helpful in anything you need.
Not all rooms have removed the floor carpet that is the less hygenic option you can have these COVID days in a hotel room.
Some of them are already wooden floor and hopefully they will change them all.
The view are nice, they have 2 options city and river view.
The beds are outdate, mattres is old and outdate they should start looking at this as they look really old.

Although all this CONS is a very comfortable hotel to stay and value for money is their KSP

I use this hotel for writing and study, and for completing consulting reports. The Corner King is perfect. Big desk, separate dressing area. Centara has taken over from Holiday Inn with good and bad results. Breakfast is mainly Asian and catering to large numbers of Korean tourists, so Western dishes are minimal. They used to have excellent bacon, now no bacon. But a good egg bar and plenty of stir fries. The bad news on two fronts. First, the fitness room lockers are in poor shape, broken lockers, broken shower heads, no hot water. The Sauna, however, is great. Second, this hotel is outside of the the center of Chiang Mai, not just outside of the Old Town. Holiday Inn had van service to the Night Market and Sunday Walking Street. Now no vans. Songtheows (red trucks) are much less frequent in front of hotel than in the past, so you need to be able to use Grab for rides. There are tuktuks available outside the hotel, and they are not as expensive as a few years ago. So an option. Fewer service people around. But I have to say that they treat me very well. And I will still go there for my business writing.

Room was cleaned daily, and the staff were so slow to responds to any inquiries. Gym is clean and good enough equipped, and pool is relaxing. I liked the cleanliness and location the most .. Almost forgot about their breakfast, big buffet with lots of options. Only went once, because I mostly just ate at restaurants around the city. Very affordable for the service. Big let down was internet speed was so slow for all devices they could not fix

The lobby of the hotel is beautiful, which I then expected to carry over to the rooms. The room, while spacious, is clearly in need of a refresh and update. The beds were not comfortable at all, and the air conditioning in our room barely worked. The other issue we had was a lack of outlets near the beds, or anywhere really. You'd think in such a large room there would be more! Anyways, the pool was nice, but that was about the only other thing we checked out.

This was my first time in Chang Mai, as well as my first time with this brand.

I loved the fact that they sent me a mid stay survey to gauge my well being staying at their hotel, I’ve never had that before, so that was a pleasant surprise so whomever idea that was, great thought! On them receiving my survey results the manager came to address my concerns, which I thought was a very lovely touch. He addressed my concerns and told me how they were going to be resolved. He subsequently checked in on me regularly to ensure that my stay was running smoothly as expected and whilst I was checking out he came to say goodbye and hand me his business card so that was a very lovely touch. He maintained his care and concern of my well-being throughout my long stay, so thank you.

The hotel room that was a lovely size, especially for someone who is long stay the only negative thing I would say was the bath towels, in fact all of the towels in the hotel were not fluffy as I would’ve loved them to be, the rooms are clean daily and sometimes I didn’t leave my room till 1pm but on my return my room was cleaned so a special shout out to housekeeping.
The breakfast gets kinda repetitive after awhile. But lunch time there were many options both in-house and around the hotel area.

The main improvement I would suggest is the information provided on some booking sites about the shuttle service to the night market etc, it doesn’t exist any more. I actually booked this hotel over another with this incorrect information.

We all know that hotels can fall short on occasions, but it’s how they deal with the shortcomings that makes the customer return.

Overall the staff of Centara Riverside were excellent from the door person, the reception staff, to the lounge bar area, so thank you for making my long stay very memorable and I will return shortly.

We had productive, engaging and fun 4 days at this amazing property led by General Manager Alex. His team arranged our transfers back and forth from Chiang Mai international airport which is not more than 10 minutes from the hotel at a given smooth traffic day. I visited central mall on one of the days i was there, central mall had good options for shopping is is not that far away either.

We had good authentic thai cuisine during our time and most important we enjoyed and had fun during our group meeting which was the main purpose we were there for. The gala dinner on the last evening was very well organized. Not to forget the turn down goodies every evening which had a story to tell.

Well done to Centara Riverside team at Chiang Mai.

Thank you and best regards,

Peter Dsouza

Does the pool get the sun all day? if not, what time does the pool get the sun from - to?
Wirral, England1,768 contribution115 helpful votes
Quite a bit of sun, depending on where you sit. The problem we had was finding shade, rather than sun, (which you could probably sit in all day as it is not a shady pool area). The sun was very strong, even in February. Remember that Chiang Mai is quite a bit higher than sea level, so not much protection from UV in the atmosphere, so you will need a very high factor sun protection.
