Hotel's Favourite
I have stayed at the Conrad Bangkok for what might be almost 100 nights over the past 5 years, and of the nearly 50 hotels that I've stayed at in Bangkok, this is my favorite. The difference is the exec lounge staff and overall comfort of the stay. Let me share some of my tips and takeaways.
As a Diamond member, the exec lounge experience here is one of the best of any Conrad that I've stayed in, which includes Conrads throughout the US and Asia. The exec staff, currently managed by Chanel Somboon, is attentive and gracious. I'll add that I had a particular good experience with a recent university graduate, Net, who has been working in the exec lounge, and is both intelligent and affable while providing five star service. The lounge food is plentiful from breakfast with its special menu, to afternoon tea, to evening cocktails, where they make their own barrel-aged negronis and manhattans. Across from the main lounge is a more quiet lounge, where you can work more privately.
The facilities are impressive as well. The pool area is expansive and has an attentive waitstaff and broad menu. The gym is large and extraordinarily well-equipped, with every major piece of equipment even the most demanding enthusiast might appreciate. There is a spa which I have not utilized, but there is also a tennis court and recently 2 pickleball courts which are well-maintained. Even if you're not a Diamond member, the breakfast offered at the 2nd floor cafe has numerous food and drink options, similar in quality to the lounge.
The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Compared to other Hiltons, the Conrad doesn't feel as stilted as the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, as old-fashioned as the Hilton Sukhumvit, or as dated as the Millennium Hilton or Doubletree Sukhumvit (I do like the modern vibe of the refurbished Doubletree Ploenchit). I like the desk/table that faces the TV and bed, the Herman Miller Aeron chairs, the sofa and seating area to enjoy takeout meals, the chair with ottoman for enjoying the magnificent skyline views, the numerous electrical and USB outlets on each side of the bed and near the desk area, the addition of Nespresso machines in some of the rooms, the option to hear the TV volume in the bathroom and view the TV through bathroom glass while lounging in the tub, the full toilet bidet, the ultra-high quality Byredo bath products, the bathroom scale, and the electric blackout curtains.
The entire property is overseen by the experienced and diligent Director of Operations Antoine Causel and GM Tim Sainsbury. The continued excellence of the Conrad is a testament to their leadership and the many stewards of the hotel, from before their tenure and I'm sure after as well.
A few notes that you may want to consider when booking here.
- For Diamond status, the hotel only does one-level upgrades. That means that if you book a premium room, you might get an executive room, which is essentially the same room but on a slightly higher floor. They used to give suite upgrades, but they no longer do that, which is a disappointment. I wish they would reconsider this limited upgrade policy for Diamond members.
- Rooms ending from 12-17 don't get afternoon sun, which I prefer; rooms endsing in 01, 02, 27, and 28 do get afternoon sun. Both views are nice, just consider the preference based on when you'll be in the room.
- If you're a guest here and want to book a tennis or pickleball court, you only get one additional outside visitor to play with you for free. So if you want to play doubles, which is especially common for pickleball, you will have to pay 500 baht each for the 3rd and 4th person, even though you're still only using one court. It's frankly a short-sighted policy. I understand bringing only one additional person to the exec lounge, or one additional person to breakfast, or one additional guest to the pool to use up more of the lounge chairs, as those consume food & beverage or chair space. But limiting additional people on the same single tennis or pickleball court, that fails to consider this game. And these courts are empty almost all of the time. I hope they change this courts policy.
- This is a solid place for a long-term stay. There is a shuttle that runs from early to late from Conrad to BTS Ploenchit, which is convenient for access anywhere, along with several coffee shops and Central Embassy shopping mall a 10 minute walk away. For laundry, there is a coin and full service laundry less than a 5 minute walk away, a 120 baht haricut place less than 10 minutes walk away, and the attached All Seasons Place mall has a 7-11, a Starbucks Reserve, several restaurants and retail places, all without ever walking outside into the Bangkok heat.
This review is a bit long, but I do have a deep love for this establishment and its people, and I'm sure you'll appreciate it as well. Mostly, it feels like more luxury home than hotel here. I hope this honest and candid review is helpful.
P.S. I'm also a Marriott Titanium member and IHG Platinum member, staying at more than 100 nights at Marriott each year. I'd still prefer to stay in this Conrad over the best Marriotts in Bangkok, including the Athenee and JW.

I started my 3-week vacation through Thailand and Laos at the Conrad Bangkok, which doesn’t seem that large even if they have almost 400 rooms.
I truly recommend this property, the renovated rooms are very well furnished and with perfect phonic isolation. Their executive lounge on the top floor is also brand new and is a great place to stay after a long day in Bangkok.
Breakfast is very varied, with multiple choices of food, and of great quality. They have multiple restaurants of which one Chinese and one Japanese. They also have a large outdoor swimming-pool which I did not use during my stay but looked attractive.

Location : perfect. Right by all the embassies. You can also walk out of the hotel and right into a small mall that has a variety of restaurants, Starbucks, Subway and a Tops grocery store. You don't even have to go outside.
We did not order breakfast because it was too pricey for us, but we did order room service on our first night and had a pizza and an Angus burger. Extremely tasty - also a little pricey but good value for money.
Room: exceptional! Everything you need is in the room. There is a kettle to boil water, a french press, large mugs (perfect for a good cup of coffee or tea), a variety of teas, Bon Cafe coffee for the french press, a variety of sugars, good quality spoons, and fruit. The bathroom has all the amenities you need: bath gel, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion (all of very high quality), as well as toothbrushes/paste, razor, and other necessary items. In the cupboards, you will find an iron, ironing board, an umbrella for emergencies, and even a brush for your shoes.
The beds are extremely comfortable and the pillows are cozy.
Wonderful views of the city!
All sorts of light options for the room, including an automatic blackout curtain that works with the push of a button.
This is my 2nd time staying here and will always be my choice when staying in Bangkok.

Was eagerly looking forward to the stay after all the good reviews but was greatly disappointed.
Booked the newly-renovated Premier Room for the first night and the older Deluxe Room for my remaining 2 nights (was informed months in advance that they are completely sold out for the new rooms due to an event). Not upgraded for my first night despite my Gold status (but understand that the upgrade is subjected to availability).
While I wasn’t looking forward to switch rooms initially, I was actually very excited to move rooms after finding a cockroach (alive and flying around) in the bathroom (my room is on the 23rd floor).
Informed the Front Office staff first thing in the morning and proceeded to switch rooms. The lack of empathy provided by the Front Office staff was clearly not representative of the high standards of Thai hospitality that we are used to.
After I wrote an email to feedback to the management on the lack of hygiene standards in my first room, miraculously, a Premier Room was suddenly made available for me to move again at 8pm the second day.
Breakfast selection was also limited and not as extensive as the other hotels in BKK that I’ve been to (e.g. Sofitel, Banyan Tree).
In spite of the above, the newly-renovated rooms are significantly nicer and better than the older rooms and is probably worth the price to upgrade.
Based on most of the great reviews here, I hope I was just unlucky and this incident is a one-off case. However, given the vast choices of nice hotels in BKK, may be better off taking your money to other properties!

Dear JX88, We sincerely regret that you had a disappointing experience during your recent stay. We take hygiene and the condition of our accommodations very seriously, and we apologize that you had to deal with this inconvenience during your visit. Unfortunately, due to our location in the heart of Bangkok, it is on rare occasion unavoidable that we must address issues with insects in our hotel. However, the entire hotel is treated regularly, and we have conducted additional treatment in the room in question. We will be contacting you directly to find an appropriate resolution to your experience, and we hope that you will consider returning to our hotel in the future so that we may make a more positive impression. Best wishes, Bobby Shankar Hotel Manager Conrad Bangkok

Overall experience and service is not up to the Conrad standard. The staff at the hotel seemed really inexperienced and unfriendly-- across the board. From check in to cleaning services to breakfast service to the gym to the concierge to check out, there was a lack of friendliness and professionalism.
Room cleanliness and service: Poor, rooms are not kept tidy with cleaning service. Showers flooded after every use, requiring two towels to mop up the mess. Cleaning service staff is not friendly.
Breakfast service. The service there was terrible. Getting a coffee could take upwards to 20 minutes and asking for anything was met with irritation. One waiter snapped at my 70 year old mother for requesting strawberry jam. When management was alerted, there was no follow up.
Gym maintenance. While the gym has a really awesome selection of equipment, I was pretty appalled that the gym staff never cleaned the equipment. I'd watch guests go from equipment to weights to yoga mats without wiping or cleaning. I ended up having to bring my own wipes each day to ensure proper hygiene.

We had the pleasure of staying here in February 2020 after our cruise was unexpectedly cancelled. So we booked a flight from Singapore and stayed at the Conrad for a few nights. The hotel is in a great location close to the Skytrain, many shopping malls, and restaurants.
We luckily were upgraded to one of the newly renovated executive level rooms. The room was awesome and that bathroom was hot!!! We also had access to the new Executive Lounge (just opened this month) and it was great. The views and staff were top notch. Especially want to call out Poupe and Noon for their great service and always smiling faces. The breakfast and nightly happy hour were superb. There was a good mix of western and local dishes. We met the hotel manager one evening and he provided us tips for our next stop in Bali. All much appreciated!
We didn’t have a chance to eat in the restaurants so I can’t comment on that. The spa prices were quite high; as there are many quality places close by, I would look elsewhere for massages. The Diplomat bar in the lobby was fun in the evenings; the singer Claudia is very good and we enjoyed listening to her each night as we relaxed from a busy day of sightseeing.
Overall a great stay and we will definitely stay here again when we come back to Bangkok.

This hotel has the potential to be a stylish premium Conrad when it's fully renovated but right now it feels like a dated business hotel. If you booked this hotel's standard room based on their marketing photos, you'll be disappointed. Only their premium rooms have been renovated while their standard or corner rooms are really, really old. As a Hilton Gold member, I got "upgraded" to a corner room, and the amount of pretentious upgrade pitch during check-in was just comical after I saw the room. When the hotel offered to change my room, it was almost midnight on a 2nd night and the phone call started off by them arguing that I should've booked the premium room in the first place. There was some arrogance in the service by the hotel staff.
I also got free breakfast for being a Gold member. The breakfast was served in buffet style with both Western and Asian options but nothing exceptional. To get coffee you'll have to let the staff know and sometimes it can take a while during the busy breakfast hour. That was a bit disappointing.
Overall, this hotel's quality has been very inconsistent in its execution. You got some areas that are very stylish and then you got some rooms still in the 90s. During the daytime, there were doormen eager to carry your luggage but during the night nobody cared to show you where the elevator is after check-in.
I also got free breakfast for being a Gold member. The breakfast was served in buffet style with both Western and Asian options but nothing exceptional. To get coffee you'll have to let the staff know and sometimes it can take a while during the busy breakfast hour. That was a bit disappointing.

My wife and I only stayed here for a night, but the impression it makes was a memorable one. My wife commended that the hotel exceeds all expectations!
Guest services checked us in the corner room, which was a big room with a good view of the city, and there were even a few surprises like the pair of swans that greeted us and chocolates on the first night (we were celebrating our 5th anniversary).
Amenities-wise, the gym was huge and very well equipped like a commercial gym (in fact, they have a membership scheme for non-guests, but guests have 24hr access).
We participated in a zumba class, which coincidentally was the instructor's last session for the hotel.
Buffet spread for breakfast boosts a big selection, though while the food was good, I find that the food at the Conrad Singapore was better, and they offered more varieties there.
If there is any con, then it's the location: it can be quite out of the way but there is a shuttle bus that it shares with the larger office estate where it is located, and goes to the nearest BTS. Plus, the bus comes around every 15 mins, so you don't have to wait long, and there are a few (3) reserved seatings for Conrad guests.
All in all, excellent stay, excellent hotel, and my wife and I would like to return for a longer stay here next time!

Pls. do not provide the room to leisure guests next to the complimentary room with wedding party/some other cases:(
The room next door room number 29240 which of guests were very very bad manner with annoying-noisy sound during midnight till around 4PM without considerate stay(Like Open PUB@The Hotel), so the hotel should not provide any room next to complimentary room that is included in such wedding package. Anyway, Overall service from staff was great. ห้องExecutive Lounge, Lobby, Check-in room staff, พนง.

Conrad Bangkok was well located for us to go sightseeing. I had business to take care of, as well, and the internet was very fast. The lobby was impressive, the executive lounge welcoming, the room service fast and good. We had a chance to tour the conference facilities and they were ahead of every facility we have ever held a conference in, with incredible LED screens for presenting, built in sound equipment, sophisticated lighting and well decorated space. Highly recommended for conferences. Our room was newly renovated and had many conveniences, including universal outlets everywhere you could want them. Electric shades to keep our room protected from the heat of the sun during the day, gorgeous tub, nice bathroom amenities.
Cafe@2 provided a Sunday brunch-style breakfast, featuring breakfast favorites from around the world. It was a great way to start the day. The hotel is attached to a mall, so there were loads of easy lunch and dinner options beyond the hotel restaurants.
Pool area was the best part of the hotel. The water is kept at just the right temp, the pool, hot tub and surrounding area were super clean and had very comfortable furniture. We could choose chaise lounges or round sunbather beds or umbrella tables by the canteen. Very enjoyable experience.

You will find that in the Conrad residence section of the hotel

Richmond-upon-Thames, United Kingdom281 contributions108 helpful votesWhat is the difference between the Conrad suites and the Conrad Premium suites?
Same size, only difference us premium is refurbished/ renovated as been told by staff, hope this helps !
Yes but they are also going to ask you for a deposit for incidentals which if there are no incidentals than you will get that money back. Quite frankly that hotel is over priced and over rated and there are better hotels around Bangkok that will treat you better and give you a better value. That’s my experience and opinion.
