I was a little apprehensive after reading some reviews about outdated rooms - our room was very nice, spacious, with amazing view over the river. Also our status as titanium Marriott members was honored - from greetings, to executive lounge access and late check out. The free ferry to commercial center across the river is a very nice touch! The only thing which was a bit disappointing was concierge service. They literally don't do anything else than take care of luggage and book a taxi, which is normally a porter's duty. No local knowledge or recommendations about restaurants or other tourist attractions, poor English skills - not a proper concierge service.

Amazing stay at the Royal Orchid Sheraton! Staff were overwhelmingly friendly and helpful - just could not fault! Siam Yacht Club perfect for evening drinks; Feast buffet dinner awesome; Thara Thong Thai great for dinner! Ideal location for exploring Bangkok along the Chao Praya River and beyond!!!! When we arrived at 1pm for our Loy Krathong stay, staff told us that the beautiful room which they had set aside for us was not yet available. Please have a coffee and come back in 90 minutes. This had not happened to me for a very long time, especially when attempting to check in at 1pm. Whilst sipping coffee, our excitement was growing as this was (supposedly) a BEAUTIFUL room. When we arrived in the room, we were reunited with our luggage … unfortunately that was the most pleasant thing I can say about the room! Super old room with a view which was not spectacular at all. And for this, we were made to wait for 1 1/2h? After taking a closer look at the room, I had to conclude that this was a room not typically (this was a full house) sold. Also, I imagined that something really bad must have happened in the room. Somebody did something in bed which caused the headboard to be very dirty with part of the headboard fabric showing a massive hole, then what looked like blood splashes all over the floor from the bed to the sofa which finally was ripped apart only leaving strings of fabric. Our junk removal guy would probably have hesitated taking it. This did not really leave me in a relaxing mood. Our room attendant brushed this away saying that this is a 10+ years old building. Note: I have no issue with an older hotel but a) most hotels in the central part of the river are older ones and b) there is a difference between an old building and lack of maintenance/upkeeping. To me, especially at this room rate, this is simply unacceptable. We were about to check out immediately as this was clearly not what we had opted for. We went to bring the issue to the Duty Manager and after stating the room number, she immediately knew what was happening. Anyway, a new room key was produced and off we went. Much better. We had access to the Sheraton Club which I naively thought would also offer some small snacks during the day. Nada, please wait until 6pm! I am a loyal Marriott brand guest but have my serious concerns why they would let this property continue operating the way they are. They do nobody a favor! One significant plus of this hotel; super location on the river with boat access to many sites. For me, that is nice but far from enough to accept the many flaws in the hardware of this hotel.…

I was expecting a lot from this Sheraton. Bangkok has a lot of 5-star hotels, so standing out from the pack is important to win customers. As a couple celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, we were allocated a dated and worn room on the 14th floor from 31/10 to 4/11 that had a shared door with the room next door. So, of course, we heard everything going on next door, which disturbed our peaceful enjoyment of our room. Why on earth would you do this to guests? Stick them in a tired and worn room with a common door where noise is obviously going to be an issue? I just don't understand the lack of customer care, especially since we booked directly with the hotel. On the positives, the room did have a good view, and breakfast was done well. Also, the shuttle boats were great. But overall, I felt let down by this hotel. As I noted, there are a lot of 5 star hotels to choose from in Bangkok. We stayed 5 nights on the 25th floor with river view. If you have concierge lounge access on the 27th floor you have access to a large range of river views including ICONSIAM. Very pretty. Very kind and accommodating staff. Old furnishings and carpet as others have noted. Not in the best shape as far as fixtures. However my major complaint is that this hotel is TOXIC due to MOLD. I have significant mold allergies and by day 2 I was completely congested - blocked up. By day 3 I had a sore throat from post nasal drip and dry mouth from taking so many antihistamines. It’s been a week since my departure and I’m still recovering despite aggressive use of nasal sprays. If you have mold allergies, look elsewhere. There is a musty odor throughout. Likely hard to combat given 100% humidity there but my troubles definitely reduced my enjoyment and altered my experience negatively in Bangkok. I’m not in any hurry to return unfortunately because the food and people were wonderful.…

We have staid 11 times in an (executive) River suite in the past 2 decades. Previous stay was a week in March 2023, now 5 days in November 3023. Their most expensive suites are excellent value compared to the other properties on Chao Praya river. And we love the greenery surrounding the two pools. As a frequent returning pax and Gold elite, I would expect some recognition, but get none. Fine. But service is erratic to say the least and usually poor given we pay for the best suite. Examples: I warned front office that we would check in early around 1pm and manager confirmed. At 1:30 pm the clerk searched for a long time and we got a middle floor suite. Not even an usual welcome fruit basket. We complained in the evening and finally got one, with excuses of a mixup. Only one bathrobe and had to call to get a second one. Lounge was full at 6pm and were told we had to come back half an hour later. Apparently they are very successful in selling the lounge access privilege to any room. Too bad for the suites. Similar story the second night.Next evening, we discovered that they had removed one bathrobe, so took long time to get the second one back, while coming out of bath. Turndown is random, most nights none. I could continue. Service is getting so bad that we don't wish to get the aggravation of constantly calling to get things rectify. The stress is not worth the price paid.…

Our first stay at this hotel was in 1994, then we stayed there again in the late 90's. Since then we have visited Bangkok dozens of times but decided to stay in other properties as the hotel selection is massive in Bangkok. On this recent trip we spent 5 nights in the city and decided to spend the first 2 nights at this property. We were allocated a spacious suite with amazing views across the river. The Executive Lounge also offer the same great views, food offerings for both breakfast and evening cocktails are generous and they offer a good variety every day. The 2 pools, one along the river and the other in the garden, are well maintained and provide a serene setting. The main restaurant "Feast" didn't impress us as we had much better Thai food in other venues. The hotel provides a free shuttle boat to the Icon Siam mall and Skytrain station, boats depart every 30 minutes. The hotel does show its age in certain areas but we recommend it as a great option if you want to stay along the river instead of in the City or along Sukumvhit. We will go back soon!…

Basic hotel. All the hotels on the riverside are old and outdated. But they have sort of a renascence/nostalgic look. Classic even. They are remodeled but... old... At least the Sheraton. I like Sheraton in general, but here is getting old. The good things, I don't know, clean maybe... But bathtub no door, my gosh, old hotel with no door to the shower, unbelievable. And very stupid. Staff is useless and slow. Breakfast was just ok, people coughing all over the food.... The rooms are VERY OUTDATED. The curtains were town, not working well. The outlets at least have been changed for international sockets, that is useful. It's old, what more can I say. The price was a little high, but the view was good, that is the plus. Fireworks every night on the riverside, good view. Good to stay in this area once. If you want to see a different part of Bangkok, stay here a few nights. …

I stayed here for 4-nights and I truly enjoy of what Royal Orchid Sheraton has offerred. My review details: 1) Lobby/Reception: The interior is a bit dated but the interrior is pretty well maintained. The concierge staff is very proactive taking care of my luggage and escorted me to the check-in desk. Check-in is smooth and my room wasn’t ready yet but then I got escorted to the club lounge at the 27th floor to enjoy a nice view of the river city with a cup of coffee. Luckily I don’t have to wait long because 20 mins later the club lounge staff told me my room is ready. 2) Room: My room is located on the 14th floor, I got upgraded to a Junior Suite which quite spacious. It has a dedicated living space, bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom. Yes the room may not high enough but believe me, it’s just perfect! The interrior is a bit old and tired, but they’re pretty well maintained and clean! The only caveat in this room is that there isn’t much space for me to put my bathroom amenities, hot water take sometimes to came out but then when it came it has some issue to maintain the temperature, also the water pressure is kind of weak. 3) Club Lounge: This is where it can get tricky because there are 2 elevators, one that brings you from ground floor up to 17th floor (low rise) and one that brings you from ground floor then straight to level 17th until 28th (high rise). If you don’t have Club Lounge access that is fine, but if you do like me, it’s such a hassle that I need to transfer at the 17th floor first to access the Club lounge at the level 27th. I think the hotel should just put everyone with Club Lounge access between 17th to 28th floor. Anyway, the Club Lounge itself is amazing - when it's not crowded. Great service from all staffs here. Decent internet speed as well to catch up with some work. Decent options of F&Bs that different everyday. 4) Shuttle Boat: I like the complimentary shuttle boat that bring guests to Icon Siam mall and Shatorn pier. I think every 30 mins is fair because it can tricky getting back to the Sheraton as the boat basically going against the river flow. To conclude, I like this hotel, I think the location is perfect, you're pretty much in the middle of everything and I'd suggest to try to get around using the water taxi, it's pretty straightforward and it's cheap! My only complain is the bathroom which is a shame, weak water pressure and inconsistent water temperature. Not a deal breaker, but I still hope they'll improve at some point.…
