The Centara Grand At Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok garners accolades for its array of amenities, with guests enjoying its dining options, prime shopping, and transport links, alongside a praised Club Lounge. Value for money is a recurrent compliment, thanks to affordable rates and commendable services like the buffet. The ambiance of the hotel is often described as inviting, adding a romantic flair that shines during celebrations.
While the rooms offer comfort and space, some guests suggest they could benefit from modernization. The staff's dedication to service and the hotel's cleanliness receive consistent high marks, as does its strategic yet tranquil location.

Detailed Reviews

We just spent 15 nights at Centara Grand at Central Plaza in a king deluxe room and this is our experience. Apon arrival we were greeted with friendliness and smiling faces and ushered to the check-in counter, the check-in was handled professionally and we were in our room in less than 10 minutes, the room being average sized(35sqm) was spacious enough for the two of us and overlooking the pool and parts of the city. The king sized bed was nice and firm and topped of with quality pillows, the air conditioning kept the room nice and cool during the day however at night it’s like they adjust the cooling temp to save on power and most nights it was just not cool enough to sleep properly even though the setting was at 16 degrees.
Housekeeping did a good job keeping the room clean but as they changed rosters or cleaners over our duration some days we had no toilet paper and our empty fresh water drinking bottles were not replaced, we did have to chase them up a few times to get it supplied, no big deal though.
The hotel has a pretty large lobby which looks quite exquisite it’s clean and well looked after with somewhat limited seating throughout, there are nice decorative areas to admire around the lobby and the hotel is adjoined to Ladprao Central shopping centre which is accessible by a walkway and then through the centres car park. The pool is good sized and surrounded by beautiful gardens that are maintained and a good place to snap some pics.
Breakfast was very good with a fairly generous array of foods, fresh eggs/omelettes cooked to order and with the choices changing slightly on a daily basis you can’t go hungry. The mornings can get quite busy due to the amount of people and the staff coped extremely well covering all details, the only complaint that I would say about the breakfast would be the staff did nothing when a few people used their hands to pick up some off the pastries instead of tongs only to place it back on the serving plate as they did not want it, also management should put in hand sanitizer stations and encourage people to use them at buffet dining areas.
The hotel has an app which you can virtually do everything from, it is a decent hotel and the staff are friendly and eager to help, it’s definitely worth staying here as it has great restaurants along with cool bar/cafes and within an easy walking distance to the local shopping centre and bts station.
A few tips, clothes washing is not cheap at the hotel $153 Au for a 3/4 basket of clothes and check your room bill every few days as we had extra things added to our bill at a cost off nearly $600 Au which were not ours, management did sort it out and deduct the cost, thank you for your help in sorting out that issue.

This was my first ever trip to Thailand and had 6 days in Bangkok before heading back to the UK, so for the first 2 days i opted to stay here, partly because there was something i needed to do near to that hotel and also because their Christmas Day dinner buffet came highly recommended.
As people have noted, the hotel is getting rough around the edges and is looking old, but the price also reflects this. Check in was straightforward enough and the staff polite and friendly.
The room was a decent size, although the lighting could be better and the bathroom had seen better days but the shower cubicle itself was huge with
a little seated area. I do think they need to address the mould in the shower as this can actually be easily removed but it seems like housekeeping/management have given up on this hotel which is a shame as it must have been wonderful in its hey day. My room faced the busy main road but the noise was minimal.
Because it was Christmas they had little biscuits/cookies in the room which was a nice touch.
The hotel is attached to the mall and metro line but other than that there doesn’t seem to be much else around but if you are getting the A bus from DMK the bus literally stops outside the hotel so unless you have more than one large suitcase i wouldn’t waste my money on a taxi when the bus cost less than £1 with it being the first stop (or was it second) from the airport so you will probably get there in the same amount of time as if you took a taxi/grab. Either way it was quick and straightforward.
The Christmas buffet was nice and it was here we discovered the Japanese honey toast which I really wish I didn’t because now I am trying to recreate it at home 😅 as if I didn’t eat enough naughty sweet things on my entire trip. The Kobe and Wagyu beef was cooked to perfection and my mouth is watering thinking about it as I type this. I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so I can’t comment but the welcome drinks voucher was a nice and allowed you to redeem it at your leisure.
Even though it wasn’t “fancy” it was a simple unfussy hotel that didn’t give me any stress, with a price that reflects the age and area, they even happily extended my checkout for an hour due to my waking up late and needing to pack ( well I woke up at 4am, then dozed back again around 10am and woke up again at 11.45am😅) so no major complaints from me.

Very large hotel so never felt crowded. Our room was on the highest floor and we had a package with Club Lounge access. Huge bath towels and full-sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion were provided, which was a nice touch and appreciated. Four large glass bottles of sealed water were replaced daily in our room. Very clean hotel and the staff are all amazing! So helpful, friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Sasitha in the Club Lounge, who is a wonderful hostess and could not do enough for us. She is such a valuable asset to the hotel. In fact, we could not fault any of the staff we came across during our 5-night stay. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. There is a medium sized outdoor pool in lush gardens. Wonderful buffet breakfast is provided but get there early as it gets very crowded. The Club Lounge also provides breakfast but not as much choice. The trade-off is it's less busy. Food is provided during the day and evening in the Club Lounge, and although it's delicious, it was usually cold. Soup for instance, was provided at lunch time and was kept over a gas burner. However, it was always lukewarm at best, as was other food which should have been hot. It was a shame as the food was delicious. The hotel is next door to a large shopping centre, accessible from the hotel through a covered carpark. The shopping centre has a supermarket and a food court with everything you could wish to buy. Very clean and a huge range of vegetables and fruit which is beautifully displayed. There are also Money Changers in the complex, which took us a couple of days to find. From memory, they are in the 'Tech area' on the second from top floor. Very easy to get anywhere from the hotel. For us, taxi's were the best bet which the Concierge will call for you. There's also a railway station attached to the shopping centre. We did a full day Ayutthaya day trip by bus, with a river cruise and buffet lunch provided on the way back. Well worth it. We also went to Jim Thompson House in Bangkok, again well worth it. All in all, we are very happy with our stay and the hotel lived up to our expectations.

I chose this hotel to go to a fan meeting held at Union Mall, and it was just a short walk across the skywalk to Union Mall, which is across the station, and it was half the price of the hotel in front of Union Mall, so I was very satisfied. There was a mall that was cooler than Union Mall on this hotel side, and there were food stalls on the street just outside the hotel, so you won't have any trouble eating or shopping. The shower water pressure and the cleanliness of the area around the water were also satisfactory, and the room and linens were odorless.

This is the third time we stayed at this hotel, close to shopping mall, convenient transportation, environmental hygiene. The quality of the hotel staff, will take care of the guests and help with everything possible. The room is very relaxed, the big bed is very comfortable to sleep quickly, 1 night to the sunlight. Bathroom supplies are full, and each bath buffers fatigue throughout the day. Buffet Breakfast choice is tasteful, plenty of seats, and the environment is comfortable. Be able to relax and enjoy Trips every day.

Reviewing the Chatuchak Cafe at Centara Ladprao. My family of 3 had the premium buffet dinner here on a Sunday night. Being their hotel guests, we also received a 20% discount, final bill came up to about THB1300 per head, really excellent value for money! Highlights of the buffet include single order of wagyu steak, grilled lobster and pan fried cod fish, and unlimited servings of beef steak, flipper lobsters, lamb chop, sashimi, sushi, live oysters, delicious Indian dishes, dim sum, and a number of cook to order asian dishes, and many varieties of local desserts.
But what really stood out was the high service standard. We were well taken care of by the restaurant Manager and his team of very dedicated crews, namely Nui Rat, Aim, and Raya just to name a few. We highly recommend the Chatuchak Cafe for it's excellent service and food quality.

The employee named Tom took very good care of her, always refilling water and collecting dishes. Whatever was ordered was brought to serve quickly. Very good. The food was delicious. Dim sum is excellent. Delicious, full of shrimp. The roast duck is also really excellent. Duck lovers must try it. The service is also good. Love it. Perfect.

We always stay in Centara grands in Thailand. We booked 3 nights here after 2 weeks at the Centara Grand Hua Hin to break up the journey before travelling back to the UK. Although we’ve come to Thailand every year for the last 14 years, we’ve only ever been to Bangkok one other time, so we are not experienced with the city at all. First realisation is this Hotel is outside the main central location of Bangkok. Which is fine if you know that, it’s got a fantastic shopping centre attached to it, but if you want to get to the centre. (depending on time of day) it’s a good 35-40min taxi ride. This was also the same journey time getting to a boat trip we had booked as well on the second day, it took a good 45 mins to get there, and we struggled to get a taxi back to the hotel as the taxi drivers didn’t want to go to Ladprao as ‘it’s too far’ ( their words) So, just a piece of advise if you want to be closer to the centre. There is also not a lot else (apart from the shopping centre) around, not a great restaurant choice that we could find anyway.
The entrance to the hotel is beautiful and we were greeted quickly and taken to our room quickly, we were on the 20th floor (club floor) and had a deluxe king suite. This was a bit of a disappointment. The room was tired looking and really could do with a makeover. It doesn’t feel like a Centara grand. The layout is actually really good and spacious, lovely freestanding tub! We had a problem with hot water early evening every night of our 3 day stay and had to have maintenance in to assist, taking around 15 mins each time to rectify. Weirdly in the mornings the hot water was instant?!
There is no mini bar, just a fridge with nothing in it. Personally I would have liked some milk etc for tea, but had to call someone every evening to get some.not the end of the world I know.
We had club access as Centara 1 card members and had access to the lounge for breakfast etc. it’s okay, not a huge selection and we couldn’t do our own toast and eggs etc.. we had to order from the waiters, and when they came the eggs and toast were cold. We didn’t use the lounge after that. The restaurant downstairs for breakfast is better (obviously a lot busier though!)
We ate one night in the cafe restaurant (same as where breakfast is) and had a good meal there. They have a delicious cake counter with beautiful dessert and treats to choose from!
Swimming pool is great, staff attentive and helpful there. I used the gym every morning which is very well equipped. Overall the staff are all very nice and helpful. Big thanks to the lovely gentleman at concierge for giving us all the advice in getting around. We enjoyed our 3 days, but personally next time I would book closer to the main part of town.

There is no laundromat in the hotel itself, but maybe you could find one in the adjacent mall - anyhow, laundry service by the hotel is available with reasonable pricing
Yes,it’s necessary to have a keycard for the lift if you go up to your room. Not higher except the bar.
The hotel has a car pickup service but it’s not free. There is a reasonable rail link/metro if you don’t have much luggage which is very inexpensive. Otherwise use Grab or one of the taxi operators.
I would suggest you check with reservations if you need an additional bed. The room that i stayed was only one king bed. Get a room on the swimming pool side i.e. the front side of the hotel for a good view.
