I had a quick stay at Avani Sukhumvit to try this property and compare with the other two Avani hotels in Bangkok. This hotel was opened less than two years ago so the hardware is new and modern and of similar quality as Avani+ Riverside, both of which are much nicer than the aging Avani Atrium. People on a budget could find this hotel to be a good choice but there are compromises to make, for example the location is not central, suite upgrades are very unlikely, and the hotel does not have an executive lounge.
I booked the entry level room and received a two-category upgrade to a Deluxe room as GHA Black member, my room was a bit more spacious (37 sqm) than the lowest two room types (26 sqm). The room looked great and was in excellent condition as can be expected for a new hotel. I liked that it was very bright particularly in the bathroom because of the huge window in front of the bathroom sink and counter, but as a couple it would be required to draw the blinds down with the electric controls because the toilet was looking straight out that window into the bedroom without any door; for a solo traveler, this will be a non-issue. The bathroom also had a large stand-alone shower with excellent water pressure in addition to a separate bathtub, and similar to other Avani hotels they had Malin & Goetz amenities. A minor flaw of the room was that air conditioning could not lower the temperature below 21C even on full blast all night. I would not say the room was hot, but I wish it could have been a tick lower.
The restaurant closed due to covid so I could not have breakfast or dinner there. That said it was not a big issue because the hotel is directly connected to a shopping mall which has lots of restaurants and also a grocery store (Tops) in the basement.
The location of the hotel is quite out of the way but it’s immediately next to On Nut BTS sky train station on the Sukhumvit line so it’s easy access to public transportation. It is 7 stops away from Ploen Chit station which could be considered city center and you get there in 20 minutes. I liked the convenience of walking out of the hotel straight into the shopping mall, but for most people the location will not be a plus.
Overall Avani Sukhumvit is a nice hotel with good quality rooms at a modest price. For solo travelers who need to be in this part of the city it should be a no brainer, otherwise for better chances of a suite upgrade and central location there are better options.

Stayed in Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel twice when it was just opened. The hotel is part of the Minor Hotels group and adopts a more modern and upbeat style compared to its sister brands.
The stay was great with a comfortable bed and the room size was good for 1 person with a set of round table and cushioned armchair for working, and a comfortable lounge chair to chill. In the day, natural lights filtered through the huge window and in the night, the room was well-lit with light fittings strategically distributed in the room. In one of my stays, there was a vase of fresh orchids, which really complemented the contemporary room interiors.
The hotel location was convenient for me as my businesses were mainly within few BTS stops away. For those who wish to stay away from the tourist areas and do not mind commuting longer, this hotel is a good choice as it is connected to the On Nut BTS station (via Exit 3). The neighbourhood seems to be a residential district for locals and expats, so there are supermarkets eg. Tesco Lotus and Tops Market, many eateries (eg. food court, fast food, restaurants, night food stalls) in the vicinity and massage shops can be found a street away too.
The hotel is part of the mall (Century The Movie Plaza Sukhumvit), so you can find Starbucks, McDonald's, Mos Burger, Yoshinoya, Koi / Kamu bubble tea shops and restaurants (Japanese, Fusion, Local, etc) without having to leave the hotel building. There is also a 24-hour cafe, The Coffee Club, at the reception lobby.
If you're taking a cab to the hotel, do provide the hotel map for the cab drivers, in case they're not aware of this relatively new hotel (and there're other two Avani hotels in Bangkok!). As the car is nearing the hotel, do look out for the purple "Century The Movie Plaza" sign at the entrance, on the left hand side. The car has to turn left immediately once it drives past the mall entrance.

Happy to return to this hotel after 3 yrs to find the quality remaining the same. Rooms are still great, bathrooms well maintained, I love that the towels smell of laundry detergent (a sign that it's been well-washed and freshly cleaned).
Front desk staff are friendly and full of smiles. The hotel is connected to On Nut BTS Station via L2 of the mall linked to the hotel, so you can get sheltered access even during rainy days. There's a huge Lotus supermarket just opposite the hotel, a 7-11 round the corner outside the hotel and another small Tops supermarket in the basement of the mall linked to the hotel.
It would have been perfect if they introduced greater variety at the breakfast line beyond sausages and bacon all week.
Nonetheless still a great stay and I look forward to returning very soon (in fact, in slightly over a week).

Don’t use this hotel as Test&Go package to quarantine in Bangkok, you’ll regret due to following reasons:
1. Most hotels they pick up the guest from the airport, stop at a drive through clinic on the way to the hotel get the PCR test and when the guests wake up the next day in the morning they have the results ready and they are free. But this hotel doesn’t do that! My flight landed early evening , they brought me to the hotel and I was told they scheduled the PCR test the next morning at 7:00 a.m and not the day I arrived. The next morning the mobile clinic was late so the test was taken very late then I had to wait eight hours to get the results. They also told me I will have the breakfast at 7:30 but they brought a cold horrible breakfast at 10: 45 AM. When you call the receptionist they don’t answer so it feels really like you are a prisoner in a room at their mercy and you are not allowed to leave the room. Before I get to Thailand I paid for the full package that included the PCR test and airport pick up and they sent me the confirmation but right before my flight they sent me another email and they claimed that I didn’t pay for the PCR and airport pick up and they sent me links in order to pay extra. I sent them my receipt which clearly indicated I paid for the full package and they did not bother to admit their mistake so I wasn’t even sure if someone was going to pick me up at the airport or not which added extra stress. They have horrible customer service, super unorganized. I do not recommend staying here for your quarantine. You will suffer greatly due to their horrific customer service and their chaotic unorganized system.

With regards to the mistake in communication, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused. We have reviewed your comments with our team members to correct and prevent these issues from repeating. We hope you will give us another opportunity to regain your trust. The restaurant of the Avani hotel consists of a dismal interior and an outdoor terrace with a view of the sky train. Large air-conditioned fans aimed at the tables and a DJ evening atmosphere. The menu, although very expensive is tempting but the meal is staggering .. Caesar salad very poor in ingredients and too rich in sauce, the parma ham melon consists of 6 small squares of watermelons and 4 mini rolls of ham and the Tiramissu dessert which put more than one half an hour to be served was simply inedible

Stayed 3 nights at Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok. Arrived at 12pm, unfortunately I have to wait till 2pm at the lobby as my room was not ready yet which is unavoidable as the standard check in time was 12pm.
Being in the hospitality for more than 3 decades, I know what i need to do to help them to manage their resources better and I did email them of my arrival time, but no effort was done to accommodate my request which is to check in at 12pm. Nonetheless, it is ok and I have no issue to wait for the room to be cleaned.
The hotel location is great as it is close to BTS, in fact it is linked so whether it is rain or shine, you do not need to worry to get wet. The locale is also great for you to explore some of the neighbourhoods with local street hawker fair and the local delicacies. However it is 9 stops for you to go to SIAM BTS Station. If this is not a problem, this may be a great option for your stay in Bangkok.
Lotus and Big C mega supermarkets are just opposite and around the corner, makes it really conducive for longer stay.
The room is clean and fresh, and mine with standing shower only but the powerful water pressure makes it one of the best shower I have ever had. The room is nicely done up, clean line with all the basic amenities. The toiletries are Malin+Goetz, a renowned cult brand in the hospitality industry.
The breakfast is pretty decent with many spread from local to Asian to Western. There is egg cooking station as well. However, the taste could be better especially comes to local dishes such as Pineapple Fried Rice. We are in Thailand, I would expect the best, nothing less.
The Fitness Centre is reasonably good with a good mixed of weight and cardio machines.
It is very unfortunate that the pool was closed for 3 days when I was here. They should at least indicate in the website to inform their customers. I booked this hotel because of the pool, otherwise with the same price I could shift my hotel to more central but without pool. I felt cheated by the lack of information. Also, on 01 Sep which was my check out day, I saw the pool was opened but the water was very cloudy. Seems the filtration has a serious issue.
A hotel that is managed by reputable MINOR Group, I would expect a more efficient communication but it was not.
On the day of checkout, I requested for a late check out till 2pm, and again they will not budge. Very rigid hotel. Otherwise, it is an OK hotel stay.

Enjoyed our time at the hotel. We stayed 4 nights one week then 2 nights the next week
We had an Avani Deluxe Room which was really comfortable and spacious. Beds were great and changed each day. Above all the staff were fantastic and very welcoming. Only downside to the room is lack of wardrobe space, but we managed ok.
Breakfast was good.
We used the pool area a lot on the first visit but it was closed on our return visit along with most of Bangkok.
There is a small Mall within the hotel complex, the BTS station attached and Tesco/Lotus across the road.
All in all a stay here is recommended .

While not central Bangkok, the price and quality more than makes up for the 'slightly' outside of central location.
The Hotel feels like it was built yesterday, fresh, clean, up to date. I had the "Skyline Deluxe Room" which was perfect. Gorgeous large comfy bed, sizeable sitting area which sofa, and a bathroom with bath and seperate shower and plenty of space. There is the option to have c-thru wall to the rest of the room from there, and to also pull a curtain for total privacy. No noise pollution from anywhere and slept well.
Decor throughout was well maintained, in room, communal and reception. The pool is not massive, but plenty big enough for a city hotel with a large roof terrace around it and food/drink. Again, clean and well kept.
The location of a shopping centre under the hotel and train station literally outside make this an ideal little base as either a night or two lay over in the city (40min cab from BKK airport), or as great value hotel.
Internationally i'd safely put this as a top 4-star, or a standard 5 star.

The whole team worked professionally and attentively especially the housekeeping team who had always assisted enthusiastically to clean my room when requested. The front and booking team provided useful information on my arrival and during my stay. The cleanliness and location is what I was happy about too, so I’ll definitely recommend this hotel to all friends in the UK!

In the room you will find a laundry list with different items of clothing with the price list, so you pay accordingly.
Delivery of clothes is generally the next day , but if you want them urgently then you can request them by paying additional charge.
This place is highly recommended!
They will go above and beyond once you ask for assistance
Otherwise they will not interfere with your privacy.
"Great message shop called Chiang Mai, 5 mins walk, same side of the road to the hotel, on the next Soi. Quite a few good bars and restaurants on Soi 50, over the BTS bridge"Read full review
