Rooms are very big and spacious and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was a bit of a disaster in terms of equipment and amenities but was pretty clean otherwise.
The food in Ethiopian hotels is just not palatable. I love Ethiopian food and I feel like the hotels do a shabby job of representing the great variety and amazing taste of the cuisine.
No complain other than the food and the bathroom. Views from the room were pretty great!

Was put here by Ethiopian Airlines despite asking to be sent to another hotel. The surrounding area is the first clue of what is to come -- it's messy and dirty, with a lot full of crumbling bricks and concrete blocks next door. The first room I was put in had a filthy carpet and dirt-stained walls.
I will give credit where credit is due, and the manager was attentive to my complaint and moved me to the "Deluxe Suite" on the 7th floor, which was roomy and much cleaner because there were wood floors rather than carpet. The manager seemed to be a nice guy and he agreed that the carpets were not okay... but the poor fellow has a lot of work to do if he want to bring this place up to standard.
Also of note, the clerk at the front desk was helpful in arranging use of a cell phone when I needed to make an international call and was not willing to pay the official hotel rate of $5 for every three minutes.
The free buffet offered for transfer guests is depressing and overcooked, and a sad attempt at international food. The hotel would do better to offer good quality ethiopian food. I opted to go out for dinner even though I had to pay elsewhere. When I returned and asked only for two bottles of water I was told by wait staff that was "impossible' and that each guest is only allowed one small bottle of water. (No water is provided in the room for drinking or brushing teeth.)
There was construction taking place right below the restaurant during the day as well, so it was really, really noisy, to the point of making your head hurt.
And then, the elevator broke. I am relatively fit so I was able to climb to the 7th floor, but anyone who is older, with small children or has any disability would have been very uncomfortable.
The internal phone system was also broken, so the only way to request something from the restaurant or front desk was to go down all the stairs, and then climb back up again.
I would note that the decor is tacky and outdated, but that seems almost irrelevant given the other problems.
There are many other hotels in Addis ranging from very nice to passable, all better than this. Don't let Ethiopian put you there if you can help it.

I stayed here for one night, as I had missed a connecting flight. The room was spacious and clean and the bathroom had a steam/massage shower. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The shuttles to and from the airport left on time. There is an atm right outside the hotel and two small stands inside the lobby where they sell essentials. There was wifi which worked most of the time.

The staff members were warm. The smiles were beautiful and lunch was delicious. Quiet rooms which were spacious. I am sorry that I couldn't stay longer. Perhaps I will on my next trip :) The adapters included in my room allowed me to charge my cell phone using its own original adapter. The wifi on the lobby was very good as well.

Nothing good to say about this place.
It all start with dangerous driving for airport transfert, driver on the phone, don't stop at red light, drive over speed limit, no safety belt.
Then you arrive to an unfriendly staff, dirty old room, bad bed, no hot water, no heater, no drinking water, no coffee/ tea facility, terrible food, unhelpful staff (you wonder why they work in hospitality), none existent or extremely slow internet when it works, extremely slow lift (we end up using the stairs evens for check out with our suitcases).
And to add some more they treat you like liar and like if you are going to run away without paying. We were put there by Ethiopian airlines (not recommended airline ether) and when we asked for a beer and a gin before dinner they asked us to pay right away. We explained them that we know we will have to pay for our drinks but because of banking charges on our cards we would like to pay all the drinks at the end of dinner; we were in the mood to had more than one. They refused, I offered to give them my passport as warranty we wouldn't leave without paying, still they refused saying it's not possible... so we end up not consuming.
This morning at breakfast, I asked for a bottle of water to take away for my trip to the airport, they also wanted to charge me for it, my problem is more with the attitude of the staff and the way they talk to you with absolutely no respect and with a tone that is absolutely not acceptable!
I've been traveling and working in Africa for over 13 years now and I've never had such a bad experience!

If you are travelling on business or leisure, I would urge you to consider staying at the Afarensis International Hotel. Better yet, choose the deluxe rooms. The rooms are cosy and cute, the bed is big and the room layout perfect! The bathroom is an experience - you will wanna take your bath 4 times in a day, and the staff ... well, they are warm and welcoming led by their manager, who makes it his responsibility to make you comfortable!

Visiting Addis Ababa, stay at the Afarensis International Hotel!

The hotel rooms are very good and there is small busy area with mall and coffee shops . Only problem is shuttle service is not prompt . It's 20 min drive from airport. Wifi is available and staff is good but they need to be more prompt and professional . For instance reception forgot to call me for shuttle to airport . Overall a good hotel

Stayed here for a few hours due to airline transfer. The airport pick up was ok, but i had to leave the terminal building and go to the car park to find the hotel transport, which was nowhere in sight. It had started drizzling. Another bus driver was kind enough to let us sit in his vehicle and wait for our hotel bus. We had to wait a good 20 minutes. Staff at the hotel was very helpful, and the room was fairly large and comfortable. All wood furniture. Free wifi in the room. Not much choice for food, but it was okay. Shower water was hot.

Stayed by default due to airline transfer, (didn't choose hotel). Staff friendly, and changed room after first one was issued unclean, with no lights in bathroom and a missing shower enclosure. Great materials used eg marble but shoddy workmanship. Buffet was plain rice or noodles, not a meal I'd expect Upper Management is bad it's not solely the staff to blame.

I stayed in this hotel during my visit to Addis on a business trip. This hotel is very close to the center. Staff is really friendly. Rooms are really BIG!!!!!!!!! and very well maintained.

Over all I had a nice stay.

Turn offs - Food is tasteless. Not good for people loving spicy food.
