The only word I could think of to describe this hotel was fine. It was basic but clean. Nothing spectacular. Our bathroom hooks were ripped off the door and there was a big water stain on the ceiling but they didn’t really impact our stay. The beds were comfy and staff were very nice. The breakfast was lackluster but had the basics like coffee and oatmeal.
Very quiet location. Close side road access to Kum N Go gas station. Laser tag and arcade next door with Jimmy John’s sandwich shop within walking distance. Only a couple of miles from campus. Great service! Very clean. Hot water, tea, water/OK/apple juice/oatmeal/dry cereal/yogurt available 24-7 in the lounge /breakfast area. Hot breakfast early with sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, self-made waffles. Oranges, apples, bananas. Didn’t use the indoor pool or gym. Would stay again.
Nice lobby, room looked nice, but bed wasn't clean. Towels are very thin. Toilet was clogged so had to get a plunger after being there a short time. Walls are very thin. Won't return unless no other option! Wifi wasn't great either.
Hotel is ready for an update. Carpet is worn and stained throughout hotel. Room had musty smell and air conditioner had been off. Saw a number of guests leave hotel due to quality. Have stayed here in the past and has been fine but not any longer.
Last minute booking. Check-in process very efficient. Room was nicely decorated with comfortable bedding. Only negative was heating unit was a little noisy when it cycled on and off, but no noise from other adjoining rooms. Nice breakfast selection. Would definitely stay here again.
All rooms were getting carpet cleaned, which is great to know, but ALL ROOMS had WET CARPET... GROSS, when we had to walk on wet carpet all night.... Oh Yah, about all night.... Smoke alarm went of TWICE in the night, first at 1:45am, and again at 2:10 am.. Desk clerk came and removed the alarm from the room, which certainly didn't make us feel any safer.... but at least we figured we'll finally get some sleep while the fire rages.....No, there was no fire, but there was no sleep either. And did I mention the gross wet carpets?
I would have given this motel a better review if our bathroom had been properly cleaned. We found a lot of thick/curly hair (seemed like someone was shaving outside of the tub; or right on the edge) on the floor in the bathroom. Common areas of motel were clean, bed was comfortable and breakfast was sufficient for our needs. Desk staff said she’d let the housekeeping staff know about the lack of cleanliness in the bathroom when we checked out.
This was the worst hotel stay ever. We traveled 10 hours to be in the area for an early morning meeting. Little did we know that there was an uncontrolled dance team of little girls on the floor. We were woke up at midnight with girls talking loud and running the hall and slamming the doors. I called the desk at 12:30 and the clerk said they will be going to sleep soon. The noise continued at 1:oo am my wife got dressed and went to the desk, she was laughed at and was told the girls would be going to sleep soon. At 1:30 am I again called the desk and was told she did not know how to contact the adults with the group of girls, if that was so who signed the registration card? I asked to talk to the manager and was told the manager was not there. I ask that she call the manager and was told that she could not do that. The area finally got quiet around 2:00 am. We got up about 4 hours later with a 10 hour drive ahead of us. I wanted the room to be compensated but she would not do that. My wife was a Night Auditor for Sleep Inn when we lived in Utah and I was the Night Auditor/Night Audit Supervisor for Quality Inn in Salt Lake City, so we both know when a guest should have been compensated. …
We stayed here twice previously and had less than satisfactory experiences but thought we would give them another chance. This experience was even worse than the first two and we will not be staying there again. Had to pack out our own trash each day, exchange our own bath linens and deal with whatever were changes made at the whim of the manager, all that were contrary to the posted policies when the reservation was made. We even called ahead to confirm what was possible, but no information was volunteered, so if you didn't ask, they didn't tell. When this issue was raised, the manager replied by merely copying the general and generic "COVID-19" policy. It was our fault as the customer for not thinking to ask about all the things that would normally be expected in a motel visit, including anticipating that policies clearly stated on the website would not be honored. Would you ask if they were going to follow the very policies they clearly state on their website? If you are not going to follow your own policies, why publish them at all? It is clear they do not wish us to return as a customer and we will now be more than happy insure that we never do. …
Trip to Ames to enjoy family for the 4th of July Holiday. July 3rd - family member experienced a heart attack in his room. Family member transferred to Hospital in critical condition and ultimately passed away. The hotel staff was wonderful to the family -- work with us day to day. Recognizing we were in crisis. Bonnie the General Manager was so kind and nice to work with. Thank you for making a difficult and sad situation a little easier --300 miles from home.
