Our room was clean ,roomy and comfortable. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The conference room for our event was perfect. And successfully! Making plans for next year! We will be back! Thank you
I highly recommend the Ames Quality Inn. It's very clean, good value, comfy beds, friendly staff and a wonderful breakfast. It's kind of hidden gem off of I-35. I am keeping it short and sweet because I have absolutely no complaints!
Overall would have booked somewhere else. Staff was friendly at the desk. My keys didn't originally work in my room, they fixed it immediately. The bathroom in my room had water damage on the ceiling and overall the shower did not look like it had been cleaned in a while. Water pressure was non existent. Breakfast started at 6am, I got breakfast at 7am- it seemed stale and not hot. Was an okay breakfast, but expectations were higher after reading all the reviews when I did book. Would recommend looking elsewhere and paying the little extra to stay somewhere nicer.
The hotel was in very poor shape. Our bathroom smelled very bad room 303. We kept the door closed with the fan on it smelled like pee. It was unbearable. Also today 2/19/23 the woman closing the breakfast was so rude. Annoyed at a child for getting something while she was closing stating “well if you’re going to do it just do it because I’m trying to close this down” (referring to making a waffle) which she didn’t need to make a waffle she was just trying to get some more syrup. She didn’t apologize after the child’s father retrieved the syrup. We were with a large group staying in the hotel. She was also very rude to me when I checked out seemed extremely annoyed and bothered by even being at work didn’t even stand up and remained on her phone. The rooms are dated, burned carpet, stained sheets, missing smoke detector in room 304. The recliners are about 30 years old and hold odor terribly. Ceiling burned in bathroom a/c/heating unit yellowed from age also filled with dirt (maybe try a shop vac not even sure how dirt got in it?) which made the air coming out smell. There was a wet towel outside on the sidewalk for 3 days. All of my clothes smelled like room when we got home we had to wash clothes that were clean. It was just a mess. Will never return. I wish I would have taken pictures because it was so bad. I was trying to enjoy time with family. …
Very helpful check-in staff. There was an issue with the first room that been assigned to us and she cheerfully helped us find just the right room. We appreciated the care and and personal attention. I wanted a cup of tea before going to bed and the gal opened up the breakfast are for me to get hot clean water and a cup as well. The courtyard/pool/ breakfast area was very quaint and attractive place, a nice atmosphere to sit in and feel like you were outside at a park without being exposed to the elements. We did not eat the breakfast provided as we have special dietary needs - but the serving area was very clean and spacious containing the normal fare of hotel breakfast items. The rooms were clean comfortable and everything was in working order. Our stay was the beginning of Dec and cost for a Sat night was less than $100. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.…
Room was super comfy and nice. Was very impressed till I come to go to bed. My little chihuahua was on the bed and it looked like a smear of blood and blood drops all over the one bed. I thought OMG is my dog bleeding but apron further checking it was dried blood drop and one smear of dried blood on a throw they put on top of a white comforter. I removed it and called the front desk after I put it in the hallway. Was offered another room but rest of the bed appeared ok so refused as I was tired after a long day of driving. Staff was personable, nice room and beds, which it should be for the cost. I would stay again, but if I have another experience like that, it would be the last time.
The internet was down the night I stayed. Huge disappointment. For me, it's akin to no hot water or heat. I travel with my Amazon TV Firestick. This is how I unwind after a long busy day. I have no use for terrestrial commercial television. No internet means no Firestick for me. I made my reservation only an hour or two prior to arrival. Had the desk clerk informed me there was no internet, I would have stayed elsewhere but would have appreciated the information and kept this hotel on my preferred list. Since I was not informed, I will never stay here again. Also, the occupant of the room next to mine chose to have loud conversations on the phone, with the speakerphone on, in the hallway just outside my room, all night long. They were in and out of their room all night, making noise in the hallway, and slamming the door repeatedly. Obviously, this person is not a seasoned traveler. As a Diamond member, I expect the hotel staff to keep seasoned travelers in one area, and inconsiderate riff raff in another. Some hotels understand this. Some do not.…
Good location for me. Right off I-35 on north part of Ames. Visited many times over past couple years. Clean. Breakfast is ok.......muffins, cereal. Sometimes eggs/sausage. Kinda high priced is one of drawbacks. Last visit had noisy neighbors, but first time for that. They leave the "initialing" on the form for the use of a safe and charge you for that if you don't pay attention to what the initials are. Don't see the need for that. Could remove that w/ no issue in my opinion.
The customer service was great. But it smelled strongly of weed everywhere. I had my kids with me so I was very unhappy about this, also the sheets had a werid smell. Could be a much nicer hotel, such a waste on a pretty interior.
Don't waste the drive to this hotel. Wasn't worth the $180 for a night we paid. I wouldn't even have paid $80. The books in the rooms were trashed and the times in them were outdated in terms of checkout, pool, breakfast.
