For this price point and class of hotel this one hit all the marks for me except one. The breakfast was very good, well stocked while we were eating with a decent variety of choices. Overall the hotel was very clean. My problem? This motel by far had the worst mattress I have slept on in a long time. Waaaay to soft for my liking. My butt went down, my feet went up, and being a side sleeper it was uncomfortable. I don't know if the mattress is supposed to be this way or was "broken down" in the middle. 2 very poor nights sleep. My wife agreed. We were in a double queen room and hindsight being 20/20 we should have tried the other bed to see if that was better. If you like super soft mattresses (and some people do) this hotel is for you. Other minor complaint, a pet peeve of mine, is mismatched light bulbs. Are you going to have daylight bulbs (brighter white) or soft white bulbs (yellowish white)? Not normally a big deal if in different fixtures, but they had them mismatched within the same fixture! Simply poor attention to details that would be super easy to correct or prevent when replacing bulbs. This lack of attention to details prevented me from giving this hotel 5 dots…
Easy on and off the interstate. Hotel is in an area with about 10 hotels. There are only 2 restaurants within walking distance. Good breakfast - lots of choices. Clean hotel. Small elevator. Nice staff. Indoor pool is small but looks adequate.
Nice mid-priced hotel with everything you need with free breakfast (nothing special on the breakfast menu), and in-room amenities like a coffee maker, fridge (with freezer compartment) and microwave. There's a pool and exercise room. Plenty of handy parking. I find the wall of the hotel a bit thin - I can hear the next room's TV and talking. A couple frustrating things. They will provide daily room service and when I checked in they asked if I wanted daily service or not. I said no - I do not want my room serviced, and thus left things out in my room of value. When I came back someone had been in my room. I was not happy. There was no "do not disturb" sign in my room. Also the iron did not work properly - no steam and there was only one pant hanger in my room. Still an average place to stay.…
So, are you a traveling night shift worker? Do you want a hotel that is quiet, comfortable and friendly? I highly suggest this hotel. I LOVE this hotel. The beds are comfortable, the water is hot, the staff is friendly, the breakfast is hot and ready for you when you get off work AND the best part.... this hotel is quiet during the day so you can sleep for your night shift. I can not say enough about this hotel. I LOVE LOVE this hotel. 5 stars. 5 thumbs up.
Our family booked 2 rooms at the Fairfield Inn and Suites over the Christmas holiday and we could not have been more pleased with our stay. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and professional. We met the manager prior to our stay and she gave us a complete tour and made certain that our stay went smoothly. After all, it was the holidays. We are so happy
Our room was the size of a shoebox. We have stayed at many less expensive properties that were more spacious and welcoming. The thermostat is located in the rather long hallway between the door and the living space (because you have to get past the elevator) so the room temperature didn’t satisfy the thermostat. The room was either hot and stuffy or cold enough to hang meat! The room entrance was RIGHT next to the elevator. The elevator was obviously added after construction and the elevator space was robbed from this guest room. The elevator is so tiny, 5 people have to crowd together to ride. The breakfast was very good, and the people there were nice. The things I complained about, I would put up with in a less expensive room. Just because it says Marriot on the front, value is not guaranteed.…
This is a very clean, well kept, and well maintained hotel on the outskirts of Ames, not too far from the University campus. The staff was well trained and very helpful and while the rack rate is a bit steep, the discounted senior rate was quite reasonable. The room (a king room) was very spacious with a nice desk and a fridge and microwave. Comfortable bed too. Definitely would choose it again.
It was very clean. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Good location - easy access to interstate and Hwy 30. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of outlets to plug in phone and other stuff - which is a problem sometime
The hotel was so clean, bright, and welcoming! The front desk staff could not have been any nicer. We had been traveling and wanted to clean up before we attended a funeral and the ladies at the front desk made sure our room was ready before 11 so we could shower and rest a little. Lemon water at the front desk was a very nice touch, too.
Great place to stay in Ames. Easy to get to the Iowa State University campus and other Ames attractions. The facility is relatively new and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the pool and spa.
