I stayed here for a few nights and the staff was really nice. Mason, Megan, and Brendan were super friendly and it was fun chatting with them at the hotel bar. Mason taught me the new style of multiplication that they're teaching students (lattice) and Megan made some delicious cookies and breakfast burritos. My room was clean. Looking forward to my next trip back to Ames.
A couple notches above on a clean room. Super friendly staff, excellent breakfast, can’t go wrong with a stay at HGI Ames! Asked for lunch recommendations and received several choices. Ended up at The Cafe.
I had a confirmed reservation with the Hilton Garden Inn Ames using points through my Hilton Honors program for Saturday, June 18. Without my knowledge, the hotel canceled my reservation, and I received an email just a few hours before I arrived. I could not rebook the reservation because the hotel was sold out. I tried calling the hotel many times, no one answered the phone. Furthermore, nobody from the hotel would answer my concerns through the Hilton online customer service. I have stayed at this Hilton previously and would have stayed there without redeeming points. However, seeing how the hotel treats Hilton Honors members, I would recommend caution to anyone booking a reservation there. Good luck getting a response if you have issues.
No maintenance Heating and cooling thermostat did not work light beside bed did not work shower drain almost completely clogged backing up into tub exhaust so clogged in bathroom dropping chunks of dirt and lint just a gross room
We have stayed many times at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ames, IA. Whenever we visit our daughter, who is a student on campus, this is our hotel of choice. We have always been treated with the utmost courtesy by all of the hotel staff. The rooms are always clean and good sized for a family of four. The beds and pillows have always offered a good night’s sleep.
Spent hours trying to modify a reservation (plenty of notice) and got the complete run around. Their only resolution “option” was to entirely cancel my stay. Unacceptable! Desk receptionist got upset with guests in lobby and slammed his hands on the counter while shouting at them. Receptionist called police on guests and wanted them “gone”. Hospitality gone very wrong. Completely mishandled and unprofessional.
Room was dirty . Requested room to be serviced didn’t happen , not once but twice . Mark the manager called and did excellent resolving the issue. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t considered returning .
The Hilton Garden Inn in West Ames is a newer building with a great lobby and accommodations. Wonderful place to stay for ISU events. Less congestion than you’ll find on Duff Avenue and close to campus and Hy-Ver
Great place unless you’re on the first floor and came there expecting to sleep. Poster in hallway says”Quite Zone after 10pm. Should read Drunk water Buffalo crossing. Bring your sleep/sound machine. Nice folks at front desk. Warden needed after dark.
Air conditioner was extremely loud in all rooms. Tried several times to adjust. Breakfast not included, not even for status members, and pricey for what you got. Close to field house but not really anything else. Not a great value for the price they charged. No exceptions were made for members. We were staying as a group in Des Moines when our games got switched to Ames….thought they could honor the price from group rate in Des Moines HILTON to Ames HILTON but no such luck.
