This is a fairly new hotel and it comfortable and clean. I've stayed here several times since it was built and I'm really sorry to see the decline in the service and the amenities. It is a great location for my client visits but, they no longer have a business center. They do have a computer in the lobby but no printer, scanner etc. Most business travelers have a computer with them, but don't travel with a printer or scanner. The clerk did offer to print something for me if I would email it to her. The documents I have are confidential employment documents and I can't email them to anyone. Buy an inexpensive printer/scanner for the front if you intend to attract business clients. There was one here originally. Also, this is a pet friendly hotel and at the time of this writing I would bet there are more dogs in this hotel then people. Since its cold outside, people are just letting their large dogs just out the door and not going out to clean up after them. I know, because I stepped in a pile on my way into my room. There was another pile that I just happened to miss. I don't appreciate walking through dog urine and feces because you choose to travel with your animal and don't want to walk them to the grassy area. Lastly, the large dogs (2) next door bark every time the outside door opens. Please understand I don't blame the dogs for these issues, but the puppy parents should be held to a standard. I did say something to the clerk, but she indicated "they weren't her dogs". Oh, did I also mention that the TV didn't work for the first 2 nights I was here. They tried for 2 days to figure it out before I realized that someone had unplugged the cable box. …
Great showers. AWESOME staff. Absolute BEST BREAKFAST in Altoona! (Thanks Belinda!!! Every time I think you've outdone yourself, you shock me again by making something more tasty the following stay. JUST sayin' the woman deserves a raise.) A traveler would be foolish stay anywhere else except Quinta, Altoona. Merry Christmas to everyone from the front desk to the kitchen and maintenence staff. YOU ROCK!!!
The hotel and room are modern and clean. This is the 2nd time I have stayed here and I really like this hotel! The only con for me is the beds are too hard for me, but I will definitely stay here again when I am in Des Moines. Also just a tip, if using GPS to get there, look up Shriners Parkway, not the address to the hotel. You will never get there when you enter in the hotel address. We had to call the hotel and they knew instantly what the issue was and gave us that tip.
Very nice hotel. Clean. Accepts pets at a reasonable fee. We stayed Oct 9-10, 2022 and the fee was only $20. There were several pets there and we only heard them once briefly. Nice breakfast area. Food is the same as every other hotel....not great, but edible. The beds were comfy, but the sheets & bedspread was thin... time to break out the winter bedding. Lots of outlets for chargers. Bathroom was clean. Large TV. Very hard to find though!
My first choice in the future. Everything was excellent. If you've never been there, try it. You won't be disappointed. They are pet friendly too. My kids enjoyed the pool. The price was very good too, including a hot breakfast.
I had looked at may different hotels in the Des Moines area. I read almost all of the reviews and this one lived up to the reviews I read. It was clean, modern and new. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was very spacious. I felt safe, being right off of Interstate 80, that was important to me. I will definitely stay here again, and encourage and recommend others to stay here!
Spent the night here to break up a long trip to Indiana. Got there late evening. Parking lot was a little dark. The gal that checked us was very nice. The hotel looked very nice on the inside. Our room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet.
Courteous and helpful staff, spacious and inviting lobby, clean rooms, showers instead of bathtubs, largest breakfast selection and best coffee on the road (with three blend choices and the coffee is actually hot). Quality pet-friendly motels and hotels are hard to find. This is one wualifies for sure! Highly recommended.
Was nice to pull into a faciality that is newer and modern looking. Clerk, at counter, was still training but helped us get checked in fairly quickly. Place looked clean and so was the room. Room was cooled for us and felt good after a warm day. Nice to have thermostat on wall to control temperature of room. Bed was comfy and lights and plugs were all in good places. Bathroom was clean. Breakfast was a good spread. Only unfavorable note I can make is that appeared that they were a bit short staffed in some areas but everything seemed covered.
Our room was very clean and had comfortable beds. I’d give a 5/5 but there was an additional pet fee that we weren’t expecting. Typically LQ is pet friendly and why we stay in them when traveling. Lots of grassy areas that are good for dog walking. Friendly and helpful staff too.
