Last minute booking. Went off of reviews. Room was large and clean. Bed was comfortable. Quiet. This is an extended stay hotel, but only stayed one night. Price was good. Would recommend the hotel and Taco John's for breakfast.
Lovely clean hotel with friendly helpful staff. It was a great place to stay. They take dogs and there are nice areas to walk dog around. Had a lovely mini kitchen. Bed was so comfortable. Nice and quiet even on the 4th with fireworks being shot off across the street. I have stayed here before and will stay here again.
This hotel was great and provided excellent value for the money. It's clean and has nice facilities. The kitchenette with full sized fridge is a life saver and was awesome for our trip! We were showing horses at the state fair in DesMoines and it was so nice to have a clean comfortable place to call home every night.
Called June 11 at 3:26pm to take the first trip I had taken in 7 years. Much planning as taking the 2 and 6 year old for the first time on a short vacation. Had researched prices through Hotwire, Expedia, etc. and recalled in terms of past that often when you call the hotel directly they will match or offer lower price than these travel websites. I happened to get Melanie, the general manager, who I spoke with extensively about my trip needs (2-year old needing naps so looking for option to check in early and check out late on our 2-day trip so I could bring him back to nap. I informed her of price I was looking at on travel sites (just under $78/night) and she said she could offer the rooms for $70/night and to ask for her when we were on our way so she could arrange the early check in and late check out, stating it would not be a problem because she would remember when I called. She was great on the phone and gave great tips for our trip (Adventureland Park) with the littles. We called ahead and got front desk the first day prior to check in and they had no idea what we were talking about for early check in. We ended up staying at the park and skipping nap, thus exhausted 2 year old and family on arrival to hotel at 7pm. The front desk at that time tried to charge me almost $120/night for each room. I had kept my notes and reviewed what Melanie promised. Front desk found Melanie as she was in. She spoke with us saying she did not recall any of what was promised, and that she did not even know how it was her I spoke with because the reservation was made at 9pm. I informed her that I would not have called at 9pm as I am in bed well before that nightly. The call is logged on my cell phone as 3:26 June 11. She made me feel as if I was the one who had the incorrect story. If the family had not already unpacked and exhaustedly been waiting in the lobby with all our luggage and kids, I would have turned around right then and paid double to stay somewhere else on pure prinicipal. Why on earth would I have not booked through a travel site for the lower cost if she had not offered better. Bit my tongue and checked into the room. Needed the fridge that was promised in each room for middle of the night milk for my youngest-it did not work! Its late, toddler had no nap, he should have been in bed hours ago and we are now pushing 9pm. They have to call maintenance. Maintenance takes 40 minutes to arrive (called from his home) and while fixing the fridge tells me there was a known problem with this fridge and that once he fixed it if the freezer makes noise ( he explained it as a horrible rattling noise) to just turn it down to 0)...I am assuming this was why it was not turned on through the breaker in the first place ( he went right to the breaker took the whole panel off and adjusted something and it started right back up)...so now everyone is in bed sleeping and the freezer begins to make horrible racket waking everyone up. I look inside to turn it to 0-it only goes down to one so cannot be turned completely off - and see black electrical tape holding piece where motor is and there is a tissue wedged there...they gave us a faulty room on purpose with no qualms! I was furious. I had unplug our fridge in order to stop the noise and had to take the toddlers milk to the in-laws room and wake them up in the middle of the night to access it. I then called in the morning before we left to remind of the promised late checkout, which I had told would not be an issue by Melanie when I called June 11 and when we checked in July 12 and I informed them both times of the specific time I would need the room until. The girl at the front desk was shocked and stated she would have to check. I never heard anything more about what would occur for late checkout. We left, skipped nap with crabby kids, and never looked back. I would not recommend this place specifically to anyone. I was so disappointed as all my planning to make the small vacation go smoothly was destroyed by lack of consideration, disrespect, and lack of communication. I am a health care provider for my profession and will never use or recommend this place to any of my colleagues.…
Always stay at the Ankeny or Altoona locations each time I come to town on business, and that is very often, its like being at home, love to cook my own meals, have my own coffee the way I like it, & throw in a toaster, that is rare in the service department of most hotel chains. The beds are so comfortable you get a good night sleep every night. Close to many shops, grocery and fun things to do, I really like that.
Nice place to stay when visiting Adventureland. We we’re able to go in the morning for a few hours, come back to the hotel for a couple hours, and then go back for the evening. Full sized refrigerator and kitchenette saved $$ on food, and lots of fast food nearby. Staff was very friendly and guest laundry was very nice- only $1 to wash and $1 to dry, even the commercial washer and dryer.
Awesome night stay. Quick check in with late arrival. Check out a breeze. Very clean, well lit and very courteous staff. Nice room with queen bed and amazing recliner. Comfortable bed and pillows. Very comfortable. Pretty quiet. Close to adventure land and Prairie casino and outlets if Des Moines.
The place was fine, clean, the staff were lovely. The brand does not require mask wearing whatsoever. The poor staff are there with masks on, but I was the only non-staff person I saw wearing one, including in common areas and the elevator. Skip it.
Spacious, spotless room for a reasonable rate. Well lit parking lot. Recommended for travelers and casino visitors, or even an longer stay. Great coffee, plenty of breakfast choices nearby, or stay in room and use the microwave, stovetop, and full size refrigerator.
My wife and I were only needing a one night stay to go visit the casino across the street, but the casino hotel doesn’t allow pets. So we booked a reservation at My Place and it was super. The room was clean, the beds were great, and having a real kitchenette with a range top and a full size fridge was awesome. As we travel across the country we will keep a lookout for this chain to stay at again!!!
