My wife and I had a short two night stay here and had the most amazing time and experience. We chose to stay in one of the bungalows with the thatch roof rather than a conventional room. Even though we were near the pool and dining area during the county’s independence day, when we were in our room the outside noise was hardly noticeable. The entire staff that we encountered were over the top pleasant and catered to any request we had. My wife and I highly recommend trying the restaurant special (pineapple glazed crispy (or grilled) chicken). The entire staff remembered and greeted us by name each time we crossed paths. We had the resort handle our reservation for the ATM cave. The the tour guide (Basilio) was phenomenal. He was courteous and very informative sharing his 20+ years of experience. He was patient with my wife as she had a couple of moments of anxiety but quickly found her confidence and made it through the cave completely and comfortably. We would have no hesitation to rebook again. To be honest and fair, no place is without faults or opportunities. This resort was more than we expected for the price. While I am giving it a 5 star (excellent) rating, it would be more like a 4.8. There are areas for opportunity in updating/renovating. There was also a slight oder when we turned on the A/C (possibly old smoke) but was not a deal breaker or cause for a new room/bungalow as it was not noticeable after a few minutes. If you are expecting a true 5-star posh resort, please consider that it is a lower economic county and this is not the Sheraton or Marriott resort your are imagining and comparing to. Thank you to everyone we met. We will return!

Hotel is beautifully situated overlooking San Ignacio and across the street from Cahal Pech archaeological site. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The food is delicious, and the grounds well maintained. The tours booked through the hotel were well done and efficient. A special shout out to Basilio who conducted our ATM tour, which was an experience of a lifetime. Basilio was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to me and my dad. He provided so much in depth information about everything from the local flora and fauna, to the archaeological and geological structure of the cave. Basilio made this trip absolutely amazing.

We stayed here in One of the cabins and really loved it. Also loved the food and the bar area at night. Had such a wonder-view to watch the sun set. We enjoyed being able to walk to Cahal pech ruins but I would not want to walk down and back to town as it sits on top of a big hillside. Parking was a little tight if you arrived during dinner but other than that we had no issues.

This place doesn’t offer fries and takes a minimum of 2 hours to bring your food. I got 6 drinks so far and my food still hasn’t arrived and waiters are constantly bothering me and telling me my food is coming but it’s a lie! I’ve been here before and they were perfect but honestly this place is falling off!! I took a break and I’m back now, I have now finally gotten my food. I got tacos and in the tacos were bones! After all I still gave them a $20 tip

This was my second visit to this hotel. The furst visit, it was quiet and lovely. Tjis last visit was loud. EF tours had a large student group who made a lot of noise at the pool until 12am. The pool is open all hours , but for those of us unlucky enough to have a cabana close to the pool, it is hard to sleep. Also the restaurant workers would blare loud music at 530 to 6am which made sleeping in quite difficult. However, the house keeping staff were amazing and the workers were friendly. It is not a fancy hotel, but it is comfortable and the location is great. It is easy to get to the sites .

We had a great stay at Cahal Pech Resort. I enjoyed 8 days there with my husband and toddler. The resort was so welcoming of our toddler and was happy to help with anything we needed. The staff chatted with us and were so friendly! This is a 3 star resort- so have 3 star expectations. We thought it was a great value for the money. We stayed in a two room suite (not a cabana) and it was a great space for our family of 3. The "main" room got a ton of natural light- so if you are used to blackout shades, bring an eye mask or expect to rise early. We gave our toddler the room with the darker shades! No mini fridge in our room, but we had insulated water bottles and the resort had filtered water fountains. Unless you are in excellent shape, I would not plan to walk to town, as the resort is located up a steep hill (and this is steep even by Pittsburgh standards). We rented a car so this was not a problem for us. We were sad to leave the resort and would definitely recommend/return to! Even with the toddler we really felt like we were on vacation!

We spent three nights at Cahal Pech. The concierge Nadia was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and wonderful to work with. Our waiters were also wonderful. We ate breakfast and dinner on property our entire stay. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. See photo. A word of caution. As another reviewer noted-avoid the tour guide Basilio at all cost. He was our guide for the ATM tour. There were seven of us in the group and we were all in agreement. He was condescending and rude. So incredibly rude. I have never experienced anything like it. The way he spoke to us and the things he said. It was obvious he did not want to be taking us through the cave. He left no doubt in our minds that he would have rather been anywhere else. There was a 70 year old woman in our group and he did not lend her or any of us a hand in a couple difficult places. She fell two times. Several times he was so far ahead of the first person in the line, that we didn’t know where to go. Then he would flash his green pointer and act annoyed if we weren’t walking in the right area. The ATM cave is such a once in a lifetime, special experience that during the tour, we kept telling ourselves not to let him ruin it. Sadly we could see other guides around us with their groups and they were having a much different experience than us. There is a very scary climb to the upper chamber and as I was navigating it, he sat at the top watching me and snapped “you are doing it all wrong!” Terrified I would fall, I froze! He reached down and adjusted the angle of my flashlight. That’s what I was doing all wrong? He knew we were all nervous and instead of helping and encouraging, he made it worse. On the way down the scary climb from the upper chamber, he stood at the bottom shouting out commands. “Left foot! Right foot! Knee! Jump! JUMP!!! Next person!! Next person GO!!!!! “ My husband felt so rushed that he followed directions and jumped (instead of taking his time) and sliced his hand. We watched another guide stand on the rock and gently help people down. Wow. What a difference. That would have been nice! The van he picked us up in did not have any working seat belts and the air conditioning did not work in the back. I’m not sure if it is his van or if it belongs to a company but it was very unsafe and uncomfortable. Bottom line, it was the most unreal experience I (and the others in our group) have ever had with a tour guide. The next day we toured Xunantunich with a guide named Junior. He was WONDERFUL! He was warm and friendly. Knowledgeable and interesting. He was also so funny! Many great “Belize” puns. We enjoyed our visit of the ruins and time with him immensely. We also had a great tubing tour through caves with an amazing guide but sadly I cannot remember his name.

The resort is just across the street from the Cahal Pech ruins, and about a 20 minute walk into the centre of San Ignacio. The walk back up the hill afterwards in the heat is tough going though! We stayed in one of the cabanas which was brilliant - great views across the town. The cabanas were clean, well equipped and comfortable. You do get a few visits from some jungle friends though, so be prepared if you’re not a massive nature lover. The on-site pool, restaurant and bar are all great.

We stayed for 4 nights at this resort, after a stay in guatemala, and booked several tours as part of a package. The resort was very clean, the food was great. We had a leak in our roof on the first night, and we were moved to a different bungalow the next morning. This place was so quiet and peaceful during the week, but did pick up on the weekend. Every person on staff was friendly and attentive. This price point for this resort which included transportation, some meals, and amazing tours (ATM,xunantunich, cave tubing, zoo stop and drop off at municipal airport) was better than I could put together independently. We very much enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend!

I wish I could write an infinite amount about this resort. Terrible. Worst Customer service in the country, especially how locals are treated. Even foreigners are treated with disrespect to the point that they leave no tip, which is MERITED. Some of the waiters, dont even ask anything, they just watch you like they have insomnia. They also just take your plate, even if you tell them you have not finished eating, they insist to take the plate. Another thing, the company I used to work with rented their conference room and it wasnt cheap, and they actually had us take in and out our own stuff, like a podium we brought, the service men said “go through”. People, please dont consider this place as an option, even as a last resort because YOU WILL REGRET IT. Also, The food takes an hour sometimes to get served and it comes cold. I could go on about so much on this resort that people would actually stop visiting.
