We have booked a Ix Chel Villa because as an architect I found it very beautiful. Other than plain architectural interest we did not think much of the property or the location. To our surprise everything was completely amazing. What came as a surprise as well was that the Villa was coming with a designated butler, Candy. That was the best part of our entire trip in Belize. Candy was only one walkie-talkie beep away and fulfilling any wishes we might have or she anticipated we would have. All our meals were served by her on our private deck with a private swimming pool. The setting was absolutely gorgeous and so was the food. We enjoyed ourselves so much dad we did not even try to go to the restaurant. It was just perfect. The chakras property is very well-maintained and beautiful. I also tried the spa service which was great. The way to the spa was a bit challenging through the forest with a thousand steps but it was worth it! The villas are not cheap, but we have been in several hotels over similar price but nowhere so for our stay with me, it’s so smooth and so amazing. …
Had a fantastic stay in the Garden Jacuzzi suite. Beautiful huge property great pool, great food and wonderful service. There is so much to do that 4 nights was not enough. Xunantunich was interesting and Mountain Pine Ridge was amazing. Bring a sweater for the night and bug spray for the dusk hours. Warm and welcoming host. I had the opportunity to ride one of their horses to the farm where they grow food for the restaurant. The horses are healthy and seem happy! Highly recommended.
Excellent service and friendly staff. Paradise like grounds. Food was superb. Immaculate very large velvety salt water infinity pool with full food service. Many activities on the property and arranged ones off property.
This was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun activities for a vacation. The grounds are beautiful and well kept and the staff is very impressive with their local knowledge of the environment and history. The food was delicious and the varying menu made every day a little different. There is so much to do right onsite that we only left for a half-day excursion to Xunantunich which is nearby. We went horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, bird watching, night hiking, spa, butterfly farm, and museum. This vacation will be hard to top!
We were there for several nights in late January with another couple, and loved every second at this special place. The grounds are gorgeous, with every inch well thought out and beautiful maintained. The staff is A+, and the food was delicious. We couldn't have enjoyed our time more there. We took advantage of the special amenities they offer such as the butterfly house (Brian who runs the operation is extremely knowledgable and gave us a great tour), and the Natural History Center. We borrowed canoes one afternoon to go up-river (pretty challenging, actually) to visit the Belize Botanical Gardens. We did their bird-watching tour on the premises early one morning and saw Toucans, hummingbirds and many other colorful beauties. We also did the medicinal plant walk with a knowledgeable guide, Emeril. The rooms are spacious and so pretty. There is both a huge inside shower and a lovely outdoor shower. The pool area is beautiful, but the water was a bit chilly. Belizeans would say "refreshing." I can't recommend this property more highly. It felt like a splurge for us, but we all agreed it was so worth it. The staff, the natural beauty, the food---all make it worth every penny.…
Luxury in the middle of the jungle. The individual cabins, under a beautiful palapa with private outside area for each cabin are the height of luxury. Beautiful furnishings and linens . The only negative id that they pour SKIMPY drinks in the bar! You must order a double to even taste the rum ( or other liquor).
Our first trip to Belize and Chaa Creek was unBelizeble. What a phenomenal place. We spent four days there and tried to experience everything our 70 year old bodies could handle. We highly recommend all of their tour guides. If we tried to name them all we would miss some so just know you are in great hands with any of them. Our room was comfortable even without AC, in fact in January it was very cool at night. We sat on our balcony and enjoyed at least four active iguanas in the trees at eye level. The howler monkeys that came through the resort a few times were amazing, especially their midnight howling. Gave us a true jungle experience. The butterfly farm is a must see along with the historical museum. We took an atv with guide deeper into the jungle to experience all the flora and fauna as well has hidden Mayan ruins. We love birds, and saw so many beautiful birds with our guides who spotted them and new all their names. The resort is top drawer, the restaurant very professional and presented local and American cuisine. Within a day all of the servers knew us by name. We were expecting it to be buggy, but not at all. The drive from and to the airport is long, but we really began to understand and appreciate the Belizean culture very varied topography as we drove from one side of the country to the other. We loved seeing Xunantunich through our Mayan guide. My wife has knee issues and the guides all went out of their way to make it possible to go on the different excursions. We hope to return soon.…
We used the resort as a base to visit Caracol Ruins and the ATM cave. Used a free day to make use of all the resort offerings-butterfly garden, bird watching, naturalist hike and canoeing. The food was excellent each night.
Amazing amazing amazing!! We booked this as a last minute add on to be closer to Xunantunich and other excursions we were interested in and it far exceeded our expectations for our family with 3 children!! They organized our transfer from the airport and our private amazing tour the following day where we did Xunantunich in the morning followed by zip lining and cave tubing and then over to a different resort!! The customer service and attention to details to make this all happen for my birthday was perfect! I highly highly recommend Darren our tour guide and Chaa creek resort! They packed us a lunch for the excursions and the food was so fresh and delicious and they used Ecco friendly reusable containers which is so impressive to do what is right for the environment even when it isn’t the easiest option!…
I spent four blissful nights (three full days) at the Lodge, and couldn’t have been happier with my decision to stay here. The grounds and property are sprawling and truly an oasis. I stayed in one of the thatched roof cottages from their cottage collection (cottage #11), simple and beautiful at the same time, my cottage offering a sweet little deck where you can rock to your heart’s content, in a hammock beneath a canopy of trees. An outdoor shower also accompanies this particular cottage. I was travelling solo so this cottage was perfect for me. It would also be more than ample for two guests. It’s a perfect home base for exploring the San Ignacio area. Two of the days, I had organized tours with some outside providers. One of the days, I explored Xunantunich by horseback, followed by lunch at Benny’s Kitchen and a walk through San Ignacio town. The other day, I went tubing at Cave’s Branch. I highly recommend both, each steeped in history. The other/third day, I spent relaxing at the lodge, where I took a tour of the butterfly farm, walked through the trails, and enjoyed an afternoon poolside - for lunch and cocktails. I also had most of my meals at the lodge and they were all very good. The entire experience was magical, but la piece de resistance was really the staff, all so kind, humble, helpful and gracious. I know that I’ll miss some people from this list, but a special thanks to Marco, Noelia, Josh, Rene, Romelo, Dwayne, Miriam, Lou, my shuttle drivers (Edward and Ricky) who picked me up and dropped me off at the airport, and David (I think that was his name), the night guard on duty. I have no hesitation recommending the lodge or giving it a five star review. I will definitely be back, but for a longer stay. Thank you again to the entire team at the Lodge for making my time here so special. It will forever be etched in my memory banks.…
