We went to Belize for our honeymoon and we are so happy we stayed at Xanadu! This grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained, everything is clean and beautiful and it feels very safe. The suite was perfect for us-- so great to have a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, great AC. The ocean view from the pool/hot tub is gorgeous. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the complimentary bikes and stand up paddle boards which was a really nice to have available. We would definitely stay here again in the future and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing, beautiful resort!
My husband and I stayed at Xanadu for our 10 year wedding anniversary trip to Belize. The reviews about Xanadu were spot on. The room and property were outstanding, and you could not ask for more friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in Room 10, which is a two-bedroom oceanfront suite. It was definitely a splurge, but worth it. The room was comfortable and had an amazing view of the beach. One of my favorite things to do was wake up early (though really only 7am for me) and watch the sunrise from our patio or the dock.
As stated on their website, if you grab a taxi from the airport, Xanadu will pay for it when you arrive. Upon check-in, we received complimentary drinks. I got the rum punch (delicious!) and my husband got a Belikin. We enjoyed both the pool and the hot tub, but did not get a chance to use the kayaks or bikes. Next time!
We did get to enjoy some drinks and chat with the bartenders. The bartenders were friendly, funny, and offered some great tips and recommendations for places to go. The drinks were tasty, appropriately strong, and reasonably priced. There are no restaurants on site, but there are many restaurants within walking distance or a short taxi/golf cart ride away. My recommendation is to plan to order pizza the first night. You will be too tired to walk around exploring at night that first day. There are a few different places that will deliver straight to your room. You just call the front desk, and they will connect you to the restaurant.
Regarding the walk from Xanadu to town/restaurants/bars, I would consider it far enough that we always took a taxi or used our golf cart. Perhaps if the weather was not extremely hot and you had the time for a leisurely stroll, the walk would not be so bad, but it was far enough away that we didn't want to do it. Also, we did one walk at night to the restaurant/resort next door, but generally would not recommend it. You can walk on the street/sidewalk where there are street lights, but if you don't know where you're going, it's still kind of hard to see at night.
Even though there were definitely other guests there while we were there, it never felt crowded. Many times we were the only people in the pool or hot tub wish was nice for us. The water by the dock had seagrass, so we were not able to swim from the dock, but there are so many other places and ways to enjoy the water, that it was not an issue for us. Note, there is plenty of beach in front of the resort, but it does not have the "typical beach access", only the dock to get in the water.
We would definitely stay at Xanadu again. The location, staff, and entire property were 5 stars!!
Xanadu provides a perfect setting for a relaxing getaway and a refreshing oasis. Each suite is equipped with everything needed from a full kitchen to spacious gathering in a family room to comfy beds to rest after fun out on the water or exploring Belize. Watching the sunrise while sipping coffee or taking a nap in the hammock, the veranda overlooking the Caribbean Sea is our favorite spot. Our whole family enjoyed taking a dip in the pool to cool off while enjoying a fresh drink, including a full bar of choices for us while the kids loved the very BEST oreo smoothies! The Xanadu staff took excellent care of us making us feel unique and special. They pampered us and made all the arrangements for us to enjoy everything Belize has to offer from fishing to snorkeling, zip-lining and exploring a Mayan ruin. Not only was the staff at Xanadu accommodating to our every need, the management and staff are truly good and caring people. They have partnered with our organization, the Belize Mission Project, to host our teams of medical and dental professionals that come to Belize to offer services to those in need. There are not enough words for me to express how grateful we are, however, I encourage everyone to stay at Xanadu to enjoy the very best San Pedro has to offer.
The resort is great, it's in a great location, it's pretty quiet and mellow, we were there in the off season, the room was very spacious and clean. Plenty of places to catch some rays or relax in the shade. Within walking distance of very good restaurants, the staff are super friendly and very helpful. Franz always had recommendations for daily outings, I can't remember the girl's name at he front desk but she had all the information you needed. Alberto the bar tender was very entertaining. We had a great time, we will go back.
Xanadu is a great resort, very well kept, clean, and friendly! The staff were very helpful and accommodating in very which way! The room service was exceptional with nicely furnished rooms. My stay was very pleasant!

We are very happy to report that the sargasum is much better than it was and there is currently hardly any on the beaches. At Xanadu we have a seawall in front of our beach which keeps the sea grass away, and we also make sure that our neighbors beach is kept clean every day as well. We can never guarantee what Mother Nature will send us but at present it is not a problem.
