The Desert Palms Hotel & Suites garners mixed reviews, with guests appreciating its proximity to Disneyland and the well-appointed rooms designed for family comfort. While many visitors commend the hotel's cleanliness and useful room amenities, some feel burdened by additional fees for services like early check-in. Opinions on room quality are divided, as praise for cleanliness and family suitability is tempered by critiques of size and noise. The hotel's amenities, including a heated pool, are generally well-received, despite some drawbacks such as limited parking and breakfast options.

So - I am not usually that person who complains about such petty stuff. But we had paid over 5k AUD for 11 nights which isn’t chump change. Overall it was a good stay so will balance out the positive with the areas lacking from our perspective.

Check in was easy enough, got our room an hour before check in time which is always a bonus. We were put on level 3 and we had booked a 2bedroom 2bathroom suite. Doesn’t have a kitchenette but does have fridge etc. nice and spacious with 2x double beds in each room. With only 2 of us it meant we could spread out. Rooms were clean and well stocked, beds comfy, pillows good enough. AC is noisy and trick to use, so you either freeze or get to hot. It was cool overnight whilst we were here so it was fine. Our room didn’t get any sun so didn’t warm up too much.

Daily breakfast was included, look, it isn’t amazing and I ended up just having butter on toast every day, they do have eggs but it has over processed cheese squeezed into the middle, lots of sweet stuff and waffles and kid cereals. I think if you are use to American food it would be fine, we aren’t so just made it work. It was better than nothing.

Is around a 8-15min walk to the Disneyland park depending on how fast you can walk. Easy enough with only needing to cross one set of lights. Lots of places to eat around the hotel and a quick uber or Lyft from the shopping areas.

Used the laundry services located on our floor, credit card only at $3USD for a wash then a further $3 to dry them.

Probably the biggest bug bear was the noise, now I know the hotel can only control so much but wow I am sitting here in my room at 9.41pm and cannot sleep as there are around 10 kids screaming in the pool area. I have one so I get they are loud, but I have never been so impacted by the noise before. The kids are having a great time but I imagine everyone in the surrounding rooms are not. It echoes and it is loud, if you had kids that go to bed at a normal time or a baby taking naps, this is not the place for you. This alone is enough to not have me stay again, I cannot even hear the tv. It is insanity. Whether this sits with the hotel or the parents I am not sure. But closing the pool area at 8pm in winter and 9pm in summer may actually bode in the hotels favour than allowing it to be carrying on all hours of the night. Or invest in some sound proofing. If you have an internal room not overlooking the pool, road or gas station then you might be ok. Not sure.

Anyway - overall we had an ok stay, slight improvements could make it remarkably better. The noise constantly throughout the day was the biggest turn off with the hot breakfast food the next.

We visited Disneyland as part of a larger holiday and stayed 4 nights at the Desert Palms hotel. The hotel is modern and the rooms generous In size with plenty of power sockets to plug in the myriad electronic devices of a family holiday. It’s about 12 minutes walk from the Disneyland entrance, and we walked home in the middle of each day for lunch and a swim in the heated outdoor pool to break up the long days of queueing and riding. Soaking in the hot tub while the kids swam was great after a long day of walking and standing. The hotel has coin operated washing machines, which was very helpful, and the breakfast was pretty decent American standard breakfast fare with alternating cooked items including omelettes, scrambled eggs, turkey sausages and potatoes along with the (frankly mystifying) grits and gravy. My daughter loved making her own waffles. The rooms were immaculately clean, bed very comfy, and our room had a separate living section separated by a curtain which was really handy when the adults were awake but the kids asleep. There Is a 7-11 next door for essentials plus a CVS drugstore opposite which sells nice sandwiches, salads and bowls of fruit. There are standard takeout places in a nearby row of shops including Chinese, Kebabs, Burgers and Mexican. There were obviously many families staying, but everyone’s kids were very well behaved and there was no noise from the pool area.

All in all an excellent family hotel for Disneyland.

This hotel although located "outside" Disneyland Resort but took nearly 15mins walk in order to get to the main entrance. A 7-11 located just next to it. Big hotel lobby equipped with lots of seats but staff on duty (@ counter) always not more than 2.
Assigned with room 364, large spacious and bright room equipped with 2double beds, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, ironing facilities etc. Room was facing the swimming pool, self washing machine with dryer and ice machine was provided at level 3.
Bathromm was so spacious but without hangers for clothing or rack/tray for toiletries etc. The is only a towel rack and a chair inside the shower room.
Breakfast hall held at level 5 rather small, always packed with families with small kids. 3-4 hot dishes, that changed almost every day, nice diy waffles, fresh fruit, coffee, juices, cereal provided.
Bus stop located outside or nearby the hotel was a shelter for the homeless. Take a 15 mins walk to Downtown Disneyland or GardenWalk as hotel surroundings got nothing much, crossover the traffic junction ,2 pharmacies, few food stores, souvenirs shop, Starbucks etc. Recommended hotels along S Harbor Blvd if just for Disneyland Parks.

We have stayed here several times during visits to Disneyland. The hotel is always clean, and the staff is friendly. Our first night we had a first floor room, and the first floor was pretty noisy. Of course, with any hotel you do have the potential to deal with loud neighbors and people in the hallway, but there isn't really much to block the noise between the first floor rooms and the lobby/pool area, so it was really loud and echo-y where we were. We did have a small issue with cigarette smoke smell coming into our bathroom (this is a non-smoking hotel), however we talked to the front desk about it and they said it was likely from someone smoking outside, as we had a corner room. Without us even asking, they immediately offered to move us up to a quiet third floor room so we wouldn't have to deal with the smell. The rest of the stay was absolutely wonderful. It is a bit of a longer walk to the park compared to other hotel we normally stay at (about 1/2 a mile to the entrance), but it is always clean, so I am willing to walk the extra distance if our regular hotel is booked!

We stayed five nights in four rooms. They do not clean the rooms while staying so toilets can get really gross (you know what it is like eating food that normally is not eaten at home). The hotel and rooms were spotless to start out though. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. There are no extra blankets but the air conditioner responds quickly. I am glad I brought my sound machine as the street has sirens during the night. The buffet breakfast was good one day and meh the rest of the time with dry powdered eggs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are paying for several rooms, you must be there for anyone else to get in their room unless they put one night on theiir credit card. This caused problems for us.

The location is about 18 minutes of walking to the entrance of Disneyland, but Uber doesn't get you close enough to justify it. I had walking problems and wish I had known that I could have spent $4.50 a day and ridden the bus back and forth all day. Make sure to stay for the fireworks one night. After the parade, get into the middle of the street ASAP to watch it. All in all, it was a great trip and the location of the hotel was very convenient. If they offered housekeeping services I would stay again and reccomend it to friends. At this point in the pandemic, it seems like they are just using it as an excuse to not have to clean.

The hotel location is great, about 10-13 min walk to Disneyland (on the same side of Disneyland, no need to cross the street). 7 Eleven, CVS, subway, & other food options nearby. The rate is affordable, they offered discounted rate if you're a Costco member. The hotel is older but clean, spacious room (we had double queen beds) with microwave & fridge. Great shower. Breakfast from 6:30 to 10:00, served hot food options like eggs, sausages, potatoes, biscuit & gravy as well as cereals, muffin, coffee, orange juice. Breakfast room was crowded with families but staff were attentive in cleaning.
The cons: sometimes plumbing was a little noisy for a few seconds when neighbor turned the shower but it didn't bother us, pillows were a little on hard. A $35 early check-in fee. but this was known before we booked.
We didn't have a car so not sure about parking fee.
During covid pandemic, masks are required & no housekeeping but we knew this. If we need something like extra toiletries, just went to the front desks. For trash, we left them outside our door for housekeeping to picked up.
In summary, if you need an affordable place in a great location and don't mind slightly older furnishing, this is a great options. Will definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Disneyland

I usually have no issues with hotels next to Disney but this hotel was by far the worst one we have stayed at. Some of our family that was with us required a mobility scooter to which we were originally told to leave them in the lobby. We then received a phone call to move them upstairs to which we did like we were asked. The next day we got a note to put them in our room due to a fire hazard. To which we understand, so we talked to the staff and told them our room does not accommodate us for mobility scooters in our room so it would be even more of a fire hazard to keep them in our room. The staff responded “well I don’t know what to tell you”. Finally, I asked to speak with the manager and she once again asked us to leave them in the lobby. Thinking all our problems are solved and we can now enjoy our time. Nope. Our AC in our room kept malfunctioning reaching over 80 degrees in our room. When the staff gave us more towels (because there were 5 of us in one room with only 4 towels) they secretly charged us after checkout for those towels that were supposed to be “complimentary”. When our family went up to have breakfast the staff turned off the lights on those who were still eating, and even turned off the waffle maker on a young girl who was in the middle of making her breakfast. The staff then had the nerve to rush families out of the room who were still eating. This hotel has the most unprofessional staff I have ever seen.
I would recommend staying at the grand Legacy or springhill suites by mariott.
Desert Palms, do better.

Our stay with Desert Palms was wonderful. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff is so helpful and friendly. The entire property is very clean and attractive. The breakfast is good too. There are conference rooms for business. They have elevators so you do not have to climb stairs with your luggage and they have luggage carriers wheel your luggage to your room.
I just enjoy staying here.

Before we arrived, we called multiple times to verify checkin was at 3pm, as we had dinner reservations at 430pm and wanted time to settle in and get ready. We called 4 hours prior to request to pay for early check in, but they could not grant that, which we completely understood. During this conversation we again clarified that check in would be 3pm and were again told yes. We arrived at the hotel early, 1pm, parked our car, and planned to go to downtown Disney for a bit before check in. We again, went inside and verified check in was 3pm. Once 3pm came, we went to check in and the front desk employee said not until after 4pm would our room be ready. She was absolutely not apologetic, didn’t offer any accommodations such as storing our luggage (at least an offer), said there was nothing she could do at all, and told me to use the lobby restrooms to change and get ready for dinner. We eventually did request to speak with a manager, which rushed our room to be cleaned so we did eventually check in at 330pm but the front desk staff could absolutely improve their customer service skills.

The room itself was fine. The breakfast was not impressive, not many options. We have stayed at nearby hotels previously, and will not be staying at this hotel again, as we have experienced much better service, rooms, and inclusive breakfast.

All in all, we had an ok stay. The manager did make it right and in the end, we did enjoy our vacation.

From Check-in to Check-out the staff could not have been more attentive and informative. Loved the lay-out of the room which allowed everyone to have some me time. The Corona virus was hitting hard but the staff rose to the occasion and we felt safe . The distance to Disneyland was a very doable and delightful walk Centrally located near many restaurants and coffee shops makes the location of the Desert Palms perfect. I would highly recommend a stay when you are in the area.
