Having timber floors made the room feel larger, plus they were clean, the whole unit was cleaned every day very well. The bathroom was a toilet and shower over the bath, I judge a hotel a lot on its linen and towels, the Candy Cane Inn use excellent products. There were two things that we were not so thrilled about, the extractor fan in the bathroom was SO loud, we had to wait for hot water to come through the pipes, which meant wasting some water whilst waiting for hot water, frustrating but not a deal breaker.
Having a laundry was fabulous as we were traveling after Disneyland we were able to wash & dry our clothes.
We had one small problem that the front desk dealt with for us, one night we had neighbors above us, that even at 11 pm they were moving furniture around, I think they just didn’t realize we could hear it, not voices just the scrapping of furniture.
Our room was near the stairs and the vending machines, we did hear noises early in the mornings. But as we were also up, & out by 7-30am on the Disneyland days it didn’t matter.
Breakfast didn’t do it for us, though we did enjoy the bagels toasted with philly, in Australia ours are getting better but yours are lovely. We loved sitting outside by the pool. The weather for the time we were in LA was glorious.
The shuttle bus was very handy, especially as our daughter had a sore foot so the bus was a god send at the end of our twelve hour days.
We were happy to be in such a great spot, lots of places to eat, or get take away food from, two large pharmacies/grocery stores near by, and availability of wine!
Many Aussies don’t know about the Candy Cane Inn, I’d stay here again at any time, and I will recommend your hotel to anyone; we wish you well at this time as Disneyland has now been closed, we know we were so lucky. Coming home to Melbourne has been eye opening, the supermarkets are emptying at a rapid rate. The worry of what’s going to happen is quite scary.
The parking lot has seemingly been made to accommodate more cars, however, I am wondering if this was done by making the existing spaces smaller. We have an SUV that even when my wife guided me in, did not fit between the lines and we were literally over the line, making every other space around us that much smaller. If you drive a compact car, like a smart car, then these spaces are perfect for you.
The breakfast is still okay, I have called it an advanced continental.
The complimentary dedicated shuttle is still a nice commodity for the end of a long day when legs are tired and kids are ornery. Location is about the only saving grace. You can walk to the park in the morning in no time, or wait for the shuttle as well.
Anyway, if you are family with kids older than 5 or 6, you may want to look elsewhere. The rooms and service are nice, but its getting rundown and like I mentioned above, just not keeping up with the upgrades travelers are coming to expect.
If you like a quaint in a busy city, and don't mind the slightly rundown facility, this place is for you.
Candy Cane Inn also has a new shuttle bus to deliver you to the happiest place on earth: Disneyland. They will also pick you up and take your tired feet back to your room.
The front lobby has some beautiful glass doors for their entry, happy & friendly staff, and fruit infused water & coffee.
The rooms look great with evey single thing you see in it being new: bed, pillows, bedding, flooring, toilets, showers, sinks, mirrors....you name it...they did it. The beds and pillows felt great. The bathroom items were on point. The remodel was smartly done.
We are so glad that we stayed here. It was indeed a magical place.
We are a family of four (two adults and two young children) and chose the Premium guest room. It was very spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. Having the sink separate from the toilet/shower was really beneficial when getting ready in the morning. The complimentary breakfast had lots of variety and it was nice to have it delivered to our room every morning. There is a microwave, fridge and coffee maker in the room as well. The kids really enjoyed the welcome gift. The late check out included with the Premium room was also a bonus since our flight from LAX was at 5:30pm. The room was exceptionally clean and felt fresh.
The location of the hotel was perfect. It is a very short, easy walk to/from the Disneyland gates (less than 10 minutes) even for a 6 and 8 year old. There is also a shuttle. We used it the first morning, but after that found that it was quicker and more convenient to walk. Nice to know it was an option though. There is a 7/11 and pharmacy close by as well as several restaurants in walking distance.
The pool area is nice and well kept. There is a main pool, hot tub and then a shallower pool for little ones. We used it on our last morning and our kids wanted to stay an extra night just to play in the pool!
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Disney. It is excellent value. We would definitely stay at the Candy Cane Inn again if we are ever back in Anaheim. It is clear they value and appreciate their guests.
