Overall the room was great, location is so convenient. The front desk staff was so awesome, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The button that you gave my daughter acknowledging her upcoming college graduation is such a cool thing, almost all of the staff congratulated her both in the hotel and in the parks. Since it rained during our stay, having the guest laundry was such a blessing. All in all, we had a great time and would return. Just a couple of hiccups that may be worth mentioning. I was disappointed that there isn't a business center anymore that you don't help guests with mailing out packages, even when the package is pre-paid for. I used this service in my last stay and it was so helpful to mail back items home to leave room in our suitcases for more. We were told that we needed to go to the local post office ourselves. Another disappointment was the service of having our purchases sent to our room, during our last stay it was such a wonderful and convenient service, that was one of the reasons for choosing a Disney hotel. But when I went to the sundry store, the 2 cashiers barked at me saying, what did you purchase!?!? Because both my daughter and myself purchased items and used the service, I only knew what I purchased, not what she did, she shoved the receipt back in my face and said "well, what is this?" When I said I didn't know, she took back the receipts and stormed off. The other cashier then proceeded to tell me the whole process of how it worked, that they had 2 big bins stuffed with items that people purchased and the system of identifying items was so difficult and they get so many bags and it was going to take a long time to go through all the bags and I just had to wait. I didn't respond back to either cashiers but was thinking, how is this my issue and why am I getting a dressing down from them. I only had to wait about 10 minutes before she returned with my items so I guess it wasn't as bad as she made it out to be or she got lucky. I was really disappointed to be treated this way, they basically made me feel like I was being scolded for using the service. I was really shocked. …
We loved our stay at the Grand Californian. The location is perfect, you even have a private back entrance to California Adventure, right near the one and only original Soarin’ that matters (Soarin’ over California is superior)! The rooms were so comfortable and the soundproofing was so amazing- we didn’t even hear rollercoaster squeals when our patio door was shut. We can’t wait to stay here again!
Beds are comfy. It’s quiet. Hotel has a nice look to it. But, Pools closed too early. Food not good. Self parking is across a big main Street. (Outside of hotel) And VERY expensive. The only thing is you get into the parks 1/2 hr. Early (not too much time)
Arrived for in time for our expo participation and visit to the Park on Saturday to find that they are not able to keep us in the same room for the 3 nights (each night price ranged from $490 - $800!!! Result is that we are to joggle our work priorities to suit the constant packing and unpacking and check-in to new rooms! On top, too add insult to injury, the hotel’s WiFi is not working adding 100s og $$ in roaming charges. With valet parking at $65 and self park at $35 this place is a rip off with Soviet style service provided to you by incompetent chipmunks 🐿️ !
Excellent hotel! Super location! We've stayed at the Grand Californian several times. It's always a great stay! Love being right there near the parks. It's so convenient. The food options are also good. Mousekeeping was good and efficient.
The staff was phenomenal! A special shout out to Zack and Danny, the bellman at the hotel. My wife and I were allowed to recharge our phone at the bell captain station, instead of up in our room so that we could maximize our time at the park. Thanks again Danny and Zack!!!
The only reason I can possibly think of staying here is if you value proximity to the park over everything else, and I mean *everything*. $65 for valet parking (!), which we only find out after we’ve given keys to the valet and are checking in at the front desk. Checked in at 5:45pm and they still didn’t have one of our rooms ready (seriously?). The other room they gave us had someone else in it. Took another 1+ hrs to get an alternate room. The courtyard is LOUD - live music throughout the evening including a show that started at 8pm so good luck trying to get little kids to sleep. Rooms are serviceable but far from fancy. It’s about a 3 star chain hotel experience on a good day. Avoid unless you have more money than you know what to do with and don’t mind loud obnoxious mediocrity.…
The price is absolutely not justified at this low Marriott level hotel. If you have little kids that need to sleep this is a terrible hotel! We are on the 5th floor overlooking the pool and my kids could not sleep. Loud, live music that blares into your room. I get it, I usually love entertainment but it’s LOUD!! I asked to be moved they said every single suite in the hotel; 1 and 2 bedrooms were fully booked. It’s almost like they get this same complaint throughout the night so they just say no. I did like convenience of adventure park access. Last time we stayed at the Marriott across the street. Honestly that was WAY better IMO! If you’re using the hotel to sleep go there if you have kids. They have bunk beds for kids too. And way cheaper! Pros: Soft good beds and pillows.…
This is the nicest on site hotel at Disneyland but is not a $600/night hotel in any other regard. You are paying for proximity to the park. The rooms are nicer and larger than the other two on site hotels and the pools are nice but the proximity to the park also comes with the overnight noise that happens while the third shift works their magic.
Came for lunch. Lunch was good but valet parking cost us $65 because we went shopping afterward, spend over $1000 dollars at Disney store. They do not care!! Rates are well hidden and they steered us to valet parking. We were with a disabled person with a severe mobility issue and I did not want to repark. If I knew how much it would cost I would definitely repark as they initially offer 3 hours validated parking They also managed to loose green ticket for the car. Horrible customer service!! Happy Holiday to the unhelpful employees of definitely not Happy Place.
