Though we live in the DC area, we spent a night at the Astoria DC to celebrate our anniversary, and it was fantastic. This is a magnificent hotel, certainly the finest Hilton in DC and one of the most luxurious in the US. The staff is fantastic, and every member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. As a Hilton Diamond, my room was upgraded from a standard to super deluxe king on the top non-suite (8th) floor, where we enjoyed a massive bathroom with a large soaking tub and an unparalleled view of the Capitol. Unlimited Fiji and Evian waters were provided throughout our stay, and our room was nicely turned down while we were out to dinner. Because it was our anniversary, we were greeted with glasses of Prosecco, and a custom dessert was delivered to our room (that was decadent). The $25/each Diamond supplement did not quite cover breakfast in the Peacock Alley lounge, but it came close, and the breakfast was excellent. This is the perfect hotel for a Diamond stay, even though it lacks a member lounge. The larger hotel restaurant is not yet open, but there are many excellent restaurants nearby. If you are visiting from outside our region, you should know that you cannot possibly beat this location for tourist travel. Most of what you want to see and do is within easy walking distance, and the Metro is just steps away. The rooms here are well appointed, larger than normal for a lux hotel, and gorgeous. The beds are very comfortable. Our sole complaint was that our room never really got cool during a DC heatwave, though it was not unbearably hot. If you prefer a cool room, you may want to choose a lower floor for a summer stay. I could name several staff members who worked hard to please us and were more than welcoming and friendly, but a special shout out to Assistant Front Office Director Samar Mansour, who took time to give us a full tour of the hotel, including the closed Presidential Ballroom. I had called ahead to notify the hotel of our celebration, but concierge Tracy Dunaway reached out in advance to offer assistance, and we were contacted by multiple staffers before, during, and after our stay to ensure we were cared for. Said at the front desk was also very attentive. This is one of the best Hilton staffs I have encountered in my many years as a Diamond. This is a rare gem in the Hilton portfolio. Highly recommended!…
The hotel is in what was the old post office - a mighty fine historic building in the middle of D.C. A great location - a metro station just around the corner and a 5 minute walk to the national mall. The main entrance and reception is stunning. It’s like a plaza - there’s a bar and seating with a restaurant. It is so grand and a massive American flag is hung on one wall. Simply stunning. Through out the hotel the decorations are fantastic. The staff were also really great - the breakfast and bar staff amazing and the door staff. Really great people. The room was very comfortable. The king bed was heavenly. In our room we also had a desk with a chair and a big cabinet with a huge tv on it with bedside tables each. There’s a wardrobe with a safe in it and a steamer. We had a great sleep. The bathroom is stunning. Double sinks, a huge shower and the biggest bath I’ve ever seen. Their toiletries are fantastic. Hair dryer available too. With our deal we got money for breakfast included. It’s not the cheapest breakfast but it is fantastic - the pancakes and bacon with maple syrup I can’t stop thinking of and the salmon avocado stack was also delicious. We also got some room credit which we spent on cocktails in the evening - some great choices. The bar is really well presented. You can normally go up to the tower which is not run by the hotel but due to covid this was not possible. We had an absolutely super stay. I know that it is being sold and I hope that the grandness of the hotel remains.…
EVERYONE we interacted with during our stay was friendly, professional, and extraordinarily helpful. The Waldorf Astoria, D.C. absolutely deserves its five-star rating! We would point out that Tracy Dunaway at the Concierge's Desk was FABULOUS. She helped us with everything from dinner / ticket reservations, to recommendations of sightseeing destinations, to having a bath drawn for my wife while we were out at dinner. EVERY one of her recommendations was PERFECT. She really made our stay at the Waldorf remarkable! She is a terrific representative of the Waldorf brand. Andre Porter in the Peacock restaurant was a wonderful, friendly, and attentive waiter. Monique was also very friendly and helpful in the restaurant. Samar Mansour at the Front Desk was super helpful with a host of questions and with enabling us to extend out stay. She and others greeted us by name every time we walked by. There was also a young man, whose name I believe was "BaBa." He was the gentleman that initially brought us to our room. He was very friendly and helpful. Brian was one of the Doormen who greeted us each day when we left the hotel and returned. He was super friendly and even helped us with "Uber!" There were several other representatives whose names we did not get, but they were also very friendly every time we walked by. The room was beautiful and spacious. The overall appearance and ambience of the hotel was beautiful. The restaurant / atrium area was a perfect place to enjoy a meal or just relax. Our experience could not have been better. We are already planning our next vacation at the Waldorf Astoria, D.C.…
The Welcome was outstanding good. The Service was excellent. The Room was very clean. The Interieur is matching the overall feeling of the hotel. The Reception, the Guys at the Door, the Roomservice and Tracy were very helpfull in each case. Room for improvment: a little smile ( especially from the women) at the bar would feel the customer more Welcome to sit at the bar area. Best Regards Andreas und Nadine
I never knew this hotel was Trump international hotel before until I visited. The hotel kept most of interior design from the previous hotel but it felt like The Waldorf Astoria hotel which is luxurious. Hyejin, who checked me in, was very helpful during my stay. She recommended me to visit 'Old Post Office Museum' which presents history of this hotel. The museum had an amazing view of the city and I truly loved it. Without her help, I would have missed the most beautiful view in D.C. I also had lots of questions about the hotel and she spared her time to explain it to me. I make videos about hotels so I try not to stay more than 1 night each hotel. I stayed more than 30 hotels since last winter and she is one of the best staff I've ever met. She really made me feel welcome. She was very friendly and professional. Thank you so much Hyejin. The hotel is lucky to have you as their staff. Thanks for your caring and kindness throught my stay. I hope to see you again. The hotel has the most gorgeous and elegant lobby. The room was also luxurious and I enjoyed bath tub in the room. This hotel does have spa but no sauna and steam room due to restriction but bath tub was enough to relax my body after busy day. The gym was very spacious and have more than enough equipment to try. Water bottles in the fridge and apples to grab after your workout. I've never seen Evian water as complementary in any hotels so far. I tried breakfast at the hotel and had an issue about the service. Roxy, the supervisor from the restaurant, took my concern seriously and she made my breakfast to perfection. Food was really delicious and right quality for the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel, if you would like to stay in the most luxurious hotel in D.C.…
I've stayed in a few different 5 star hotels in my time in the US and the UK but this hotel was amazing. I was lucky to get a great deal on my HHonors rewards points to stay here because the daily rate is high, but you can see why when you arrive. The hotel is amazing to look at from the outside, however if I didn't already know it was the Waldorf you'd struggle to see from looking at it as the only sign is around the corner from what looks like the original main entrance. The clock tower is the second tallest building in DC but we didn't get the chance to visit as it closes at 4.30pm and on the one morning we had to visit, there was a technical issue. When you arrive at the hotel, the concierge immediately opened the doors and helped with our bags. We'd had to walk from Union station in the rain to get there so they brought us some towels to dry our faces and hair and some water to drink. The reception area is in the main bar area and inside it is stunning to look at. Every detail of the hotel is exceptional, the rooms have drapes and table lights either side of the door, and its very light and welcoming. We were upgraded to a deluxe/premium room and were welcomed with a little cake to celebrate our anniversary. The team had reached out prior to our stay to find out more about us, who we were and why we were visiting etc. this was a great touch. Whilst retaining its elegant style the room still felt modern, it was very light, very clean (in fact the cleaning service was twice per day!). The curtains were even electronic, which my wife loved. We had a view of the top half of Washington Monument, but as most buildings in DC are around the same height you couldn't see much else. The bathroom was very nice and the toiletries provided were excellent quality. The restaurant wasn't open when we stayed as the hotel has only just been converted from the Trump to the Waldorf so they are still working things out, but you can eat in the bar area, which has plenty of seating options. We only had drinks but again there was lots to choose from on the menu, from wine and champagne, cocktails and simple beers. Prices were expensive but you're in a very expensive hotel so its to be expected. All of the staff were very friendly, but we go chatting to one of the concierge who was especially welcoming and was talking to us about the hotel and asking where we're from. I don't recall his name unfortunately but he's worked there whilst it was the Trump too and used to live in the UK, liked football (soccer) so it was very easy to chat to him. Overall it was an amazing stay and I'd love to come back one day.…
The personal attention to detail and concern for your comfort begins before you arrive the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC. It is clearly evident why this hotel is in the top three not just in DC but the US. Both concierge Jennifer and concierge Tracy reached out early to assist in my plans for making sure my two 10 year old nephew's first trip Washington, DC early July 2022 was amazing and inspiring. Jennifer set me up with private guide Ismail (separate review on this amazing guy and his vast knowledge of US history), secured all meal reservations I requested and also had welcome treats in our rooms upon arrival. The Waldorf is worth every bit of the price. The location is very convenient since it is in Federal Triangle with a Metro stop just outside and a short five minute walk to The Mall as well as many restaurants and attractions. Upon entering the stunning lobby of the old post office, reception is convenient and personal. The doorman Ahmed and bellman Antehan greeted us all by name (I had alerted Jennifer we had arrived at the airport) and front desk receptionist Sumi quickly checked us in. Every day Ahmed the doorman, Antehan, and Sumi made sure to greet us with fresh water and smiles. Our rooms (723 and 729) were upgraded to the seventh floor facing the Washington Monument. Awesome amenities and comfortable beds befitted very clean and quiet rooms. I will say the only, and I do repeat only, negatives about this hotel is the evening music playing for the bar area is a little loud and off putting and since this hotel is newly opened (from the transition of the Trump International in May 2022) there is not yet a fully operational restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be served in the bar area and by room service. We took the Metro to most places we needed and found it mostly safe but were certainly diligent and aware. Again, the five star level of service is incomparable. The staff is most accommodating and certainly elevates this hotel it's top three ranking in the US.…
I have stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in New York and had a wonderful visit. I have my grandson and friends visiting Washington DC for the first time. We walked by the hotel admiring it’s beauty and wanting to look inside and maybe have a coffee. A friend suggested we go inside and see how beautiful the hotel is. We were turned away at the door and was told that we couldn’t come inside. The attendant said that there were to many people inside. We didn’t see anybody around much less a crowd. I have never been turned away from a hotel. This was a first.
Great hotel. Check in was easy, plenty of staff to help out. Rooms are a nice size and its quiet. Beds are super comfortable. Valet was quick. Everyone we dealt with had a smile on amd were eager to help you out.
Beautiful hotel and everyone is so kind and professional. When leaving, the valet said he has been in the hospitality industry his whole life and no place has empowered him like this place. The happiness of the staff shows.
