I visit D.C. frequently, and this Kimpton is in one of my favorite locations. There are lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance, beautiful architecture, and its close to the Dupont Circle Metro (or Rock Creek Pkwy for a quick getaway by car). It's very safe, even at

Another wonderful stay at the Hotel Palomar... Came to town for a concert and no complaints!

Great location. Quiet rooms. Amazing staff. Still has the Kimpton touch that I was worried would be last in the transition.

The Palomar is a good place to stay for business. clean and spacious rooms.
breakfast.... nothing to write home about. I got the feeling the hotel staff didn't like to be bothered much. Perhaps it was just a very busy period.

DC has a load of Kimpton-owned and managed properties and I have stayed at more than a few of them. In my opinion the Palomar is "up there" with the others and I recommend the Palomar because of the following: a convenient location, a super-friendly staff that is eager to please

A bit pricy food and drinks but it's a nice hotel in a nice area. I was plagued but unlucky wrong doings but the staff bent over backwards to sort things and get thing's sorted.

The room was really big and set up nice. Few problems with the lifts but all in all a nice hotel.

I don't get the amenities fee. It says it covers internet, phone calls, and car service for a couple hours in the am. I am already a IHG rewards member so internet is supposed to be free, I have a cell phone and do not need to make calls on their phone, and I don't need a car service (plus its only if available). So why do I need to pay this fee every day? E Blair
Forgot to add... Iryna C is right that often hotels will waive those fees if you complain.

Where can you smoke by the palomar
I recall seeing people smoking outside of the hotel, a certain distance from the front entry. I think I saw an ashtray there.

Is room service 24hours?
It appears to be available late at night, but you need to call if you want something in the early morning hours.

Hi we are due to stay at the Kimpton hotel for 3 nights in June and would be grateful if anyone could advise if we will need to pay a city tax or resort fee. We booked and paid for our holiday through an holiday website and thought the price we paid was all that we would need to pay. I would be grateful for any replies in connection with this. Regards alison
I don't recall paying a resort fee, but D.C. has a hefty local tax for any hotel.

Can you tell me how to get to Dulles airport from the hotel using public transport
Mistake: take a SUBWAY to Rosyln Metro station and get on a bus just outside the door. Schlepping a lot of heavy luggage can be a problem, though, so pack lightly. A carry-on plus a backpack should get you through at least a week.
