We tried to check in at 2:30 today and was told our monument view room wasn’t ready, but we would be called when it was. No call- at 4:30 tried to check in again. After waiting in a long line, room still wasn’t ready, but told no worries they would put us in a higher floor. Really?! They put us in a crappy, beat up, 4th floor room - room 441. Yes- looking in the direction of the Washington Monument, but not a view. Can’t imagine that our original view room was on a lower floor. We come to DC quite a bit for business and pleasure and we were trying out this hotel. So far it stinks in terms of service and room size/quality compared to the other hotels we have stayed at in the area. Guess they don’t want our business.
WOW! This hotel is amazing and tge Staff goes above and beyond! Starting at the valet to the bell hop and then check in and all the assistance while you are there! Absolutely amazing. Clean and pretty updated. The rooms were spacious, house keeping really sweet. Ask for a scenic view and it's literally worth the whole trip.
This is just a review of the JW Marriott's Executive Lounge! I'm a long-time Marriott supporter, and I continue to use the company's various hotels and vacation clubs. However, listen up Marriott Management! 1. Either rename this "Executive Lounge" or eliminate it. I've stayed at so many other Marriott's and usually the Executive Lounge or Concierge Lounge is a pleasant experience. This one was more like a "romper room" and was incredibly small. There were so many young kids that the noise level was obnoxious and unpleasant. 2. Alternatively, why don't you consider a separate "adult" only Executive Lounge? That would allow your business customers or life-time users to have a more pleasant experience. Finally, when did Marriott start charging for the wine in these lounges? I was shocked with the notice that there was a charge for the wine. That has never happened before. So, beware when using the lounge at the DC JW Marriott. Other than that the hotel was fine and the staff were excellent.…
We stayed at the JW Marriott. Excellent location with excellent service. Particular reference to Steph the manager who was there to help us to make our stay even better. Great place to stay if you are visiting Washington
I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews. We just got back from a lovely long weekend stay at this hotel and it did not disappoint! The location is perfect as it is walking distance to the monuments and a very short drive to many cool surrounding neighborhoods. The staff at the hotel were incredibly kind and we really enjoyed our interactions with them. A major shout out to Shanequa, Max, and Teffi for your outstanding customer service! We had a wonderful stay!
This hotel is lackluster at best. After an unforgettable experience at the JW Kolkata, this JW disappointed on every level. No room upgrade, low floor, no welcome note and gift in the room, and the executive lounge is closed on the weekends too. I asked everyday about a room upgrade and even found that they had one available online for the duration of half my stay. They denied my request for the upgrade but asked me keep checking back everyday. I am now at day 4 of 9 nights and still nothing. I wish I went with the Westin or other Marriott properties in the city. My company has a huge event at the space. I am going to share the feedback with them so they may consider other alternate hotels in the future. Lifetime Titanium Elite Status means nothing here. This hotel doesn't live up to the Marriott Brand nor recognizes loyalty. Lastly, the at your service is poorly staffed. We had to try 3 times before getting housekeeping to deliver more towels.…
This hotel appears more tired each time I visit. Very much a conference hotel. Great location and is fine if you are alone (or a couple) and only sleeping in rooms. Not built for families as the rooms, bathrooms and beds are small. The elevators are annoying and if busy can take along time to provide a ride.
Probably this was the worst JW Marriot I have ever stayed. In fact, according the service provided, it cannot be JW at all. We stayed for a week a besides the location and the pleasant personnel in the lounge, I cannot say anything positive about this hotel. We will not stat there anymore for sure. We had argument with some of the receptionist that could not find our payment the first day we made when checked it and wanted to charge us double. The managed was excusing that they have two parallel systems which I do not care at all, since they ruined us half day calling our bank in Europe, communicating with reception and manager. They were saying that they are understaffed and excusing all the time but I really don’t care. They should reduce their prices according the service they provide which is awfull.…
Had a great stay at the JW Marriott for 5 nights for business last month. Since my company was hosting a conference at the JW, the most important thing to me was being able to retire to my room after a long day or working, with a comfy bed and no disruptions. And the JW delivered! My double bed room was clean and tidy, with plenty of room for me and my belongings. The beds were spacious and comfy. Climate controls were perfect; never too hot or too cold or too humid. Even though the hotel lobby was always buzzing with conference attendees and other guests, once I went to my room, I couldn't tell. It was always quiet on the sleeping room floors. I was on the courtyard level and there was even an event there on a Friday early evening. Totally quiet, even though I could see people on the courtyard! When I wanted to go out and explore, grab a bite or a drink, it was easy. I walked out the hotel and there were plenty of options right outside the building, around the block. Same with seeing the sights. The JW is basically in the front yard of the White House and the National Mall. So it's quick access to the various monuments and museums! If I had any complaints, I think it'd be with the restaurant and bar inside the hotel, the "1331 Bar and & Lounge." It's not bad by any means - I spent a few late nights down there with coworkers and friends; the food and drinks were good and strong! My issue is more the limited food selection and small portions. It's really just a bunch of appetizers. I know there were plenty of restaurants outside, but sometimes I just didn't want to leave the hotel after working for 12+ hrs. Even the room service menu was fairly slim. There's another restaurant in the lobby, but it's only open for breakfast and lunch. So if you want dinner, you pretty much have to leave the hotel or DoorDash it. That was a little bit of a bummer. When it came time to head back home, I flew out of Reagan Airport (DCA). It was only like 10-15min away via taxi/Uber, which was awesome. If I had been adventurous, I could've taken the Metro subway to DCA (station is only a block east from the hotel). Close to everything includes the airport and the Metro. Hard to ask for more than that! Overall, I was very pleased with the JW Marriott Washington DC. It was everything I expected of a Marriott property and then some!…
Be aware that there is loud construction noise at this hotel. Buzzing sounds around 5am and then very loud drilling and hammering intermittently starting in the 6am hour. When I called the front desk I was informed that it is coming from the building next door and that they have no control over it. That being said, other hotels post information on their sites about on site or nearby construction so people are aware. This hotel does not for whatever reason so a sleepless night was not a pleasant surprise
