Nice and clean hotel with superb location but foodwise leaves a bit to be desired. We used a nearby McDonalds for breakfast which is much cheaper than what the hotel was offering. The 4th floor room was very close to the railway line at the rear of the hotel but the trains weren't a real problem. We couldn't hear them over the noise of the air conditioning. The AC needed a little tweaking to make it a bit quieter. The room itself was very spacious and well equipped. Parking was easy but expensive at $53 a day with hotel access directly from the parking garage. The fire alarms on our second night were less welcome and the lack staff providing guidance when the guests assembled was a little worrying. At least it wasn't a real fire. On the whole an OK hotel though.
Everyone was extra helpful and seemed to very cheerful. When a thunderstorm disrupted my one chance to swim, they pushed my check out time so I could leave the cat in our room and still enjoy their nice pool. They are two blocks away from the national mall and some of the best museums anywhere.
Its a great place to stay if you enjoy being hot. They keep the air conditioning so hot, or perhaps they dont run it in the lobby or public spaces. We had to move rooms because our AC wouldn’t get it below 76, the toilet barely flushed and the bathroom door didnt close. It was an affordable price and the staff was friendly, so ill give them that, but I couldn’t recommend this to anyone.
We checked in and went to our room which was absolutely lovely, really spacious and clean. We looked out of the window and sat the train tracks but just hoped it wouldn't be a problem. Wrong. Turned out to be a massive problem. Those trains are constant and going all night with their incredibly loud horns, we were still awake at 4am despite trying ear plugs. After talking to reception they offered to move our room, we didn't need asking twice! The room was smaller but still quite spacious , turns out we'd been given the other room as we are reward club members. Would much rather have a smaller room and sleep thanks very much! As we were out for most of the day the reception arranged for all our cases etc to be moved to the new room which, upon arrival back at the hotel, had been done. We were very grateful. And slept that night too! The hotel is in a very good location and the bus stop for the hop on\off tour bus is just 2 minutes walk away. The bar in the hotel, 21st Ammendment, was very good although people were ordering pizzas to take back to their rooms and they were taking an hour at least. We sat at the bar and had some food, it was good, just fries and chicken tenders. The staff were so busy but one particular barman, Eric, was very good. worked his socks off and was friendly too. So, decent hotel, good location. But whoever put it next to the railway tracks wants sacking.…
Ugh. I regret not reading TripAdvisor closely before booking. We were given a room overlooking the commuter and freight train tracks! All night long - No exaggeration - LOUD Horns. Rumbles. Bells. It was awful. We had to drown it out with an ambient sleep playlist on full blast while we slept. I will never stay here again. If you get a non-train side room, it could be fine. I don’t know. Aside from that issue - this hotel is fine. A good three star hotel. The staff has been nice. They could use more desk staff during peak times. Housekeeping was great. We didn’t use the pool or cafes. It looked like people were there for a conference. This is a good hotel location around the corner from L’Enfant metro station, where you can catch the Metro or the Circulator bus. It is a few blocks to the National Mall. Only a few restaurants nearby. We ate breakfast every morning at the McDonald’s down the block. Next time, I’d choose a different hotel on the north side of the Mall. And check for RR tracks.…
Hotel is showing its age. Staff was friendly and knowledgable about the area. Garage parking is expensive ($54 per day). No free breakfast. Has a snack bar available (can charge to your room). There are a few restaurants (pizza, McDonalds, et cetera) on the same block.
The workers in this hotel are very rude. After standing in line for 20 minutes they messed up our check in and we couldn’t get to the room. Instead of fixing the problem they told us we would have to get to the back of the line which was now twice as long. The “concierge “ told us he would let us in the room. I asked him how do we get back in when we leave and he replied. “Do you want to get in a room or not?” We still don’t have keys. Never been treated this badly in 14 countries and 20 years of travel. AVOID this hotel!
I want to first say that the hotel is in a really centralized location relative to the monuments and museums. First, check-in was pretty effortless. If you are driving here, there is a parking garage below the hotel. Parking all day was a little pricey(~$45) , but in my eyes it was worth it. When we got into our room, it was slightly dated, clean and very spacious (King Suite). There were some minor cosmetic issues. Our A/C took some time to cool down. We called down to the front desk to let them know that and they sent maintenance up right away. Maintenance was very friendly and very quick to solve our predicament. There was a Starbucks located on the corner of the lobby. Having that in close proximity was awesome. We were able to grab a coffee and something to eat quick so that we can get a head start on the monuments/museums. The restaurant was pretty average. The food wasn't something to write home about. But after a long afternoon of walking around the mall it hit the spot. The wait staff could have been a little more attentive but I'll give them the benefit of doubt, since we were seated 45 minutes before closing.…
Trying to wait till I’m less upset, but the review is happening on the first of our two nights here. First of all, when I booked the room, I booked it for three adults and one child (16 year old). Upon checkin we realized we were given a room with one king bed. Tried to change it, they didn’t have any rooms with two doubles available. So now one person is sleeping on the couch, and another on the floor. When the very nice guy at the front desk offered to send up extra bedding, we figured we’d make the best of it. It didn’t show up so around 8 pm we called down and asked for 2 sets of extra bedding. One was sent. We called down and asked for another set and two more towels since the room was only set up for two people, to four. The second set of bedding was sent, but no extra towels. Very frustrated, especially as we’re here for two nights. It’s really annoying to pay full price for a hotel and have to sleep on the floor, and then have to keep asking for supplies the room should have come with.…
booked a suite room. the room was void of any pictures except one in the bathroom. The aircondiutioner in the bed room didn't work so I was sweating at night. Mattress was hard, not firm. If you go against my advice and stay at this hotel, here are the tricks: turn AC down in 2nd room and hope it sneaks in to the bed room. Get 4 extra comforters to layer under the fitted sheet. but really don't come here.
