Too far from Capital and downtown. Not terrible but not great. Unregistered people allowed to take multiple plates of breakfast buffet food out of the hotel everyday. Disruptive unregistered people in common areas and in guest elevators.

My family and I had a great experience at Hyatt Place Washington DC/National Mall. I highly recommend the hotel, it is close to the national mall, the wharf district, Smithsonian museums, and easy access to transportation. We always felt welcomed by the team members and they were always helpful when we had questions.

Would not recommend this Hyatt. Loud location, poor breakfast, terrible service. Valet expectations not explained, check in was not welcoming nor did they take the time to explain anything. Bare minimum service

We stayed here March 1nd & 2nd and were very pleased that we chose this hotel. The location was great, price was reasonable, staff was friendly and helpful, our room was clean and comfortable, and the continental breakfast was great with lots of options. I had requested a high floor and we got a room on the 12th (top) floor with an amazing view. Perfect.

We stayed here for a week. It served its purpose. Housekeeping was not detail-oriented but staff was responsive when we reached out about missed things. The main bed was quite comfortable. The pull-out bed was awful, sleeping on the couch cushions was more comfortable. Breakfast was substantial we were able to fill up well before heading out each day but we were disappointed in the food options in the evening. Food was not labeled or set up well for food allergies. The rooms were clean though not always well stocked (shampoo was empty on arrival, conditioner ran out the next day, no bedding for the pullout couch). I would stay there again but might look for better options at a similar price first.

Breakfast was great and service at other meals was great in hotel restaurant. Staff was very kind and helpful. Stay off public transportation for safety otherwise DC tourist areas safe. Hotel and surrounding areas felt safe. Easy to obtain taxi services. Didn’t use the pool during winter months.

I was disappointed with the service and location of this Hyatt. They were inconsistent in providing what I was supposed to receive as a member- something as simple as a bottle of water. The refrigerator and coffee maker in the room did not work. I was given incorrect information about the walking distance to the two museums that were the reason for our trip when I called in advance to plan our trip. I would’ve selected a different location or hotel. The sofa bed was rock hard and caused back issues the first night so we couldn’t use it the remainder of our stay. The breakfast was ok except the biscuits were rock hard. Not likely to return to this location.

For my first trip to America, as well as my first solo trip ever, I wanted somewhere that was super close to the attractions I wanted to visit, as well as somewhere safe and secure, and I definitely think I made the right choice with this hotel. It's located less than five minutes on foot from the National Mall and the Smithsonian museums, but at the same time is located just off the beaten track enough that it doesn't feel crowded and busy. The rate I booked included breakfast as standard - while breakfast is very busy due to it finishing quite early in the morning - 9 am on weekdays, but this is increased to 10 am on weekends, it was frequently restocked, so I could get what I wanted without it running out. However, not all room rates have breakfast included, so make sure to check that your rate has this if it's something you want. For outside the hotel, the food options in DC are excellent, whether you're looking for fast food or a more substantial meal - just a few minutes up the road is a McDonald's, for example. The hotel is very secure - you receive a keycard on booking, which is used to operate the elevators, open doors to stairwells, as well as open and lock the door to your room. Federal Center SW, the area where this hotel is situated, is also very safe, and owing to its proximity to the government buildings is frequently patrolled by several law enforcement agencies - during my time here, I saw the MPD, Protective Services Division, FBI and(!) the Secret Service's Uniformed Division out and about! I never felt at any risk during my time here. Pretty cool, if you ask me :) Now, on to the room itself. I booked a King Room on a high floor, and got my room right at the very top of the hotel, on the 12th floor. Housekeeping came to my room almost every day during my fortnight in DC, even when I was out exploring the city, which meant I'd always come 'home' to a very comfortable remade king size bed. The bathroom has a very large shower, with very good water pressure and temperature control. There's also a large television in the room with DirecTV and a nice selection of channels, which is perfect for relaxing when you come home after a day of walking around the National Mall. Despite my room overlooking the interstate, being situated directly above a fire station at ground level, and having a train station very close by, this wasn't very intrusive at all - I was able to sleep soundly every night. I have to dock a point from this review due to the Wi-Fi, or somewhat lack thereof - while the hotel offers free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, which was a nice touch, in practice it was extremely unstable and often non-existent in areas of the building above the first three floors. This should be an easy fix with the purchase and installation of some range boosters, or even by adding more hotspots to each floor. In conclusion, I really enjoyed my time at this hotel, and considering just how convenient it is with regards to location, as well as the comfort of the room itself, I reckon that I will be returning here again when the next time I visit DC comes around - it's a 4/5 from me!

I booked online for work. I was not aware that I got a "special discount" which I was told was a "non-refundable rate." My work schedule changed and I asked to change my reservation to cancel the last two day. I called within the cancellation time more than a day before that day I wanted to check out which gave them ample time to rebook the room. I spoke with both the assistant and general manager who said they could not do anything and would not refund me for the two days. Additionally, the hotel lobby is on the 3rd flood and although they say they have a restaurant, they do not. There is a very limited "bar menu" and the service was very poor. Also, the phone in my room did not work. On the positive side the room was clean and a good size. However, not a lot to do in the immediate area so not the best location.
