For starters, my bathroom was partially clean when I checked in. Soap scum in dish and human hairs (pubic and head) was everywhere (floor, tub, sink, toilet base). The front door jams. So if you don’t pull it shut forcefully you run the risk of leaving your room unsecured like I did until I realized it. Not sure who she was (African American middle aged female), but she was very rude to me and not accommodating when I arrived. She looked like she could have been a manager. The only microwave in the hotel is “on the 3rd floor for VIP guests” is what I was told when I asked. The rooms are outdated too. For the amount of money I paid per night it wasn’t worth it. I was only there for a conference and I didn’t choose the hotel. They even tried to make me pay for parking although I told them I was there for a conference. The TV had a portable camera attached. Not sure why, but it creeped me out. Also, when I left out to go to my conference, someone came in my room and restocked towels and threw out trash but left my bed left unmade. There is one other weird thing that happened but I can’t prove, I think someone put water in my make up remover container that was in the bathroom. The next time I used it it didn’t apply on my face the same and the consistency of the liquid wasn’t the same. I would never stay there again. BTW I was on the 4th floor.…
The staff and service at the hotel was excellent. They also offer great rates. However, in my bathroom there was visible mold on the walls (attached pictures) so it felt very unclean. The room was fine but nothing exceptional.
Location inside a college campus. On the positive side the staff was very nice and polite. The beds were comfortable and the room was in good condition and clean. On the negative, the first night I arrived, which was after 10pm, I heard vacuuming in the next room. The walls are very thin and I had noisy neighbors. Cleaning staff, at least I think it was cleaning staff, was very loud some mornings. I was there for 4 nights and no one cleaned my room the entire time I was there. That's just not acceptable. I picked this place because it was close to the person I was there to see. Next time I will pick a different hotel. There are so many other places to stay in this city.
I am a PhD student at Gallaudet and came to stay for the weekend at the Kellogg Hotel on the Gallaudet campus for a monthly dissertation retreat. The front desk staff, especially the manager, has been very responsive to my every need. They even offer complimentary fresh fruit! There are three more dissertation retreats, as they are a monthly event, and I plan to return for those, as well!
Not much different from any of the chains, standard room setup (fridge, micro, no comfortable chair), including skimping on the breakfast offerings. Located on the campus of Gallaudet University you are within the fenced in campus with campus security. and the quiet campus. However, there is not a Metro stop close by. The hotel (campus) has a shuttle that goes to Union Station about every half hour throughout the day and early evening, but don't plan on it late night, and of course, it adds that extra 15-20 minutes (one way) on to all your travel about the city. No pool or exercise facility. One more thing, they have a fan that you cannot control that circulates air continuously, noisy and cold air. Must be a COVID thing, but you cannot turn it off.
The hotel is very quiet because it's in the middle of the Gallaudet University campus. (Many employees are hearing-impaired, so be ready for using gestures and maybe taking down your mask so they can read your lips.) It's a 5-minute walk from the campus entrance on Florida Avenue. From there you can either walk 15 minutes or take the 90/92 buses to the closest Metro station, NoMa-Gallaudet. There's also a free shuttle between the hotel, to and from Union Station, where you can make lots of connections. The basic queen suite was just that: basic, with lots of floor space, a very comfy bed, two not-so-comfortable sofas, two TVs, and two tables with no light on them. For the price I paid (a bit over $100), it was a bargain.
I had a group of 12 college students and another staff member, and we had a very good week staying here. It's a great location and accessible to so much in the city. We had to leave early because of COVID-19 and had to rearrange plans, and the hotel staff were very gracious and accommodating to that. I highly recommend this location for your future travel. Rev. I've stayed at the Kellogg Conference Hotel in the past and loved the comfort, cleanliness and the great food. My current trip was interrupted unexpectedly, and I was not able to make my reservation. I explained to the manager the reason and the hotel made it very easy to change the reservation. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a stay in the DC area!
When ever my boss has to go to DC she wants to stay at your wonderful hotel. Atif and the staff are amazing! The hotel is very clean and quite. Compared to other DC Hotel prices its priced affordable. I will recommed anyone traveling on business to stay there.
The hotel is inside the quiet university campus. In the room, you see the photos that demonstrate the old days of the university. Breakfast is good enough, although it is nothing special. The staff at the front desk is very kind and helpful. The location is very good. You can grab some food from the supermarket nearby. The rate for the room is also reasonable, even it is located near the Union station. I recommend you to book, when you visit DC.
