Everything was excellent and Leslie was brilliant. My second visit and going to be coming back again! The Melrose is such a great hotel in all respects and the staff make it truly special. Thank you again!
Excellent customer service at front desk by Cortez, Jake, Lelise, manager lady (so sorry, I'm bad with names), and porters. Location was excellent: Trader Joe's a block down, convenience store 2 steps away, transportation, nice views, friendly service. I can't wait to be back. Ruth Weinfeld, MA RN.
Thankyou Aki for all your support during our extended stay at the Melrose Hotel in Foggy Bottom . You were a true hero in fully supporting the three of us during those traumatic 5 days . One day we hope to return and be sure to look you up . The Melrose is a great hotel , very comfortable , clean rooms and friendly staff . It’s in a great location only a mile from the Lincoln Memorial and a ten minute stroll east into Georgetown , which is not to be missed , including the beautiful riverside . David Wright.
Very pleasant check in staff and large room with comfortable bed, although air con was a bit noisy even on low. We were told that due to Covid, the hotel restaurant was only open for breakfast, but that the bar menu was available. However, when we went down to eat, we were told that due to a private event the kitchen was closed. It was a wet evening in Washington, there was no booklet in the room suggesting alternative restaurants nearby. We dashed over Pennsylvania Ave to an Asian cafe for a very average meal. I appreciate the difficulties Covid has caused for staff recruitment, but this was very inconvenient.
Lelise greeted me with the warmest welcome and I was so excited to stay here - everyone is so kind and welcoming in the short time I stayed. Could not recommend this hotel enough! I look forward to my return.
Bottom line: toilet broke and wouldn’t flush, excruciatingly slow Wi-Fi (too slow for video conferencing reliably) with an obvious password (your data is not secure), room smelled of cigarette smoke, and rude nighttime staff at check in. When I was checking into the hotel at night, I saw an elderly couple checking in before me. They spoke French and very little English. and could not understand the staff person’s description of the hotel restaurant. So the staff person’s solution was to literally yell the same thing over and over to them in English. And he did not help them up the stairs with their bags despite their obvious mobility issues. Location is convenient but my stay, by far, did not live up to this price and the expectation of a luxury hotel.
Visited in May from the UK. Having told them our approx arrival time and also emailed to ensure the spare bed would be made up ready for our son, we arrived to be sent to the wrong room with just 1 bed as they were full. After 3 visits to reception to sort out a bed for our exhausted son, finally a bed was wheeled through with bedding which had clearly been used as was all crumpled, so the poor thing ended up squashed with us as he was so tired from a long flight. We were given the correct room the next day but the air con was broken, noisy and dripping onto the floor, stained carpet, very tired decor and even a mousetrap in the room and all of us received bites around our ankles from other inhabitants of the room! We received no 'welcome' on arrival, no instructions about the free tea and coffee in the morning and generally were seen as a nuisance. At check out time they billed us for a suit for all the nights even though we didn't receive a suit for the first night and when we questioned this the response was 'so you want a discount' no we want to pay for what we received! We love Washington DC and have visited before but the service and welcome we received here has put us off ever visiting again. Their focus is entirely on their foyer area but they need to work on their customer service!…
Lelise, at registration, went out of her way to accommodate my needs for a late checkout after Shabbat was over. She also printed my boarding pass and made sure I had transportation to the airport. She made me want to return to the Melrose again!
From the start of my reservation the staff at Melrose Georgetown were efficient and welcoming. I also needed a last change of which Lelise at reception was more than willing to accommodate. Between her, Nutun, Jenner and Aki the reception staff all reflect the kind of customer service and friendliness that welcomes guest back :-)
Lelise and Staff was exceptional, and clean hotel. Will definitely be visiting this hotel again, if in DC area. Melrose Hotel is in the midst of everything and lots of delicious restaurants nearby, all in walking distance. Bring your walking shoes, if you love to walk :-)
