Recently Remodeled. It was ok. The rooms although small were nicely remodeled. There is no air conditioning so that’s a problem on a hot day. Food was decent in the restaurant. This is an all inclusive hotel given you cannot go out to find restaurants etc. If stair are a problem, this wasn’t the best designed hotel as the elevators are only convenient to one wing of the hotel. Nice view of the crater from atop the hotel. But you don’t only pay for a view. You also pay for service and quality. I think this property was ok. There were a few little things wrong but for the most part ok.

Dear Mr. NYCworldtraveler2, Greetings from Ngorongoro Lodge Member for Melia Collection! First of all, we would like to thank you for choosing our lodge during your last visit to Tanzania, as well as for spending part of your precious time to send us your feedback. Please note that although the lodge has been refurbished last year, as it was the first lodge to be built in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and a heritage site, the structure remains almost the same as it was 50 years ago for example our rooms that keep the original sizes and the same with all the areas of our lodge. We always strive to provide the best service in every sense to our guests, which is why we feel truly sorry for not having fully met your expectations. Mr. NYCworldtraveler2, we would not want to lose you as a valuable guest, and I hope you give us a second chance to regain your trust in the future. If your plans brought you again to Tanzania, we would love to be given the opportunity to turn this around. We remain at your entire disposal should you require any further information or assistance. With kindest regards, Lisbetty Lopez Perez Guest Experience Manager

As you walk through the door you get this unbelievable panoramic view of the Ngorongoro crater. The photos do not do the justice! This is a recently renovated property. Rooms are very nice! Management and staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make guests happy. The food is great as well! Also got the best massage - much needed after a long drive on the bumpy roads. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

We had a wonderful stay at the Melia's Ngorongoro Lodge and we really enjoyed the stunning view of the crater from the terrace and from our room for the last 6 days. Furthermore, all the staff there was really friendly and helpful. Ignacio, the resident manager, was really attentive and gave us good recomendations on some activities. Enoche did a great job with his professional but friendly service at the restaurant. Peter, the bartender, made our evenings there more enjoyable with his cocktails, especially the 'Dawa', and last but not least, Mr. Tara Singh, really impressed us with his cooking skills. I also want to mention our game drive guide, Walter, who was always friendly and funny and also fulfilled all our wishes with his experience and his perfect timing of the animal sightings.

It was an absolute delight of a stay. From the warmest welcome we’ve ever had to the amazing views to the crater, everything was top-notch and way above our expectations. Cesar, the GM, pays tremendous attention to details. Everything is locally produced, sourced or created. We met artisans, painters and even the chef who explained to us about their ingredients and where they came from. Even the vases for the shampoo, conditioner and body lotion were locally produced. The hotel is brand new and yet they managed to combine modern design with safari aesthetics which blends perfectly well. It’s the only hotel in the crater with a heated pool, jacuzzi and with a suite like the one we had. Our terrace was gigantic offering unobtrusive views to the crater and caldera. Our terrace even had a dining space and a fireplace which was set up at night by the Maasai so we could enjoy the outdoors. Our suite even had a living room, kitchenette, and an office space which is perfect for longer stays. The food and menu created by Chef Alberto Leiva is absolutely fantastic. We got to taste not only local food, but also lobster from Zanzibar and meat from South Africa. The first evening we got to try Mediterranean dishes including tortilla given the Spanish origins of Chef Alberto. As Iberian ourselves we felt right at home. Lisbetty was a wonderful supervisor and host, she was the one who got everything organized for us. Whether it’s advising us about the time we should wake up, have breakfast, go down to the caldera, she was always ready to give us tips to enhance our stay. Veronica and the waiting staff was also absolutely amazing and very kind. We truly appreciate how everyone was so welcoming. We met with the Masai in our first day and I got to learn how they do fire, how they dance and even about their hunting habits and weapons. It was absolutely incredible. I so regret to have booked only two nights. This hotel is a must! And I really want to come back soon.

This is a beautiful hotel in absolutely stunning position overlooking the Ngorongoro crater. The owners have recently spent a lot of money updating the hotel and it really works. The staff were very pleasant and the food was good. The only thing letting it down was the pool area which despite its fabulous view was tiny with only four sun loungers. We felt that the hotel would benefit from a larger area for sun loungers to allow relaxation / recovery after long game drives. Overall a very positive experience.

We had a wonderful time at the lodge and our only regret is we couldn't stay longer! The staff went above and beyond to give us the most extraordinary service and experience! The lodge itself is a jaw-dropping beauty. Our suite with a striking view of Ngorongoro Crater was truly beautiful. It's beyond expression how exceptional all of you have been during our stay. Peter, thank you for mixing the most splendid drinks for my husband, keeping my champagne glass always full, and preparing delicious DAWA every morning. Irene, Veronica, thank you for your wonderful, attentive, and friendly service, a beautiful smile on your face, and all the sweet surprises you threw during our stay from - shocking my husband with his birthday celebration to a lovely, surprise candlelight dinner and everything in between. Lisbetty, thank you for your warm hospitality, lovely conversations, and very professional and friendly approach to making all your guests feel good and comfortable. Alberto, you are one of the best chefs we have ever met. Your food was delightful. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and each dish showcased your talent. We appreciate your time and effort to chat with us every day to make sure we are delighted with our dishes and for offering more than the menus. And last but not least: Ignacio, you are an exceptional Manager! You truly know how to make your guests feel Your kindness, positive energy, and friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing attitude are among a long list of many other outstanding qualities you possess. You are a role model! Someone who any of your guests will remember and appreciate. Thank you and your dedicated staff for making our stay in Ngorongoro Lodge so delightful and memorable. Everyone and everything was excellent! Hope to see you all again!

I wrote a whole review and it was deleted. OMG I will try to capture the beautiful of this hotel and experience again. Upon entering the hotel, you can smell how clean the lobby is. And you are greeted with nothing but smiles! Please know these smiles are not fake either. You can tell they are genuine and really are want to ensure your stay is excellent. It was excellent. The lobby is very safari chic. It’s elegant but you still get safari vibes. I loved it. You are handed a warm towel and a shot of some natural juice. I believe he said it has honey, cinnamon, lemon, maybe something else. It was nice and fresh! The view from the lobby and lobby balcony of the Ngorongoro Crater is out of this world!!!! I will have some pictures and videos as well. The room (114) was nice and clean. It smelled so good. The view from the window is spectacular. We can over see the crater. There is even a window in your shower ❤️🤯 real sexy. So one of my favorite parts was dinner. My husband surprised me and let them know I was celebrating my birthday. Totally surprise but they came out in song and dance. You can tell it was traditional. They even included me. It made my heart smile and brought to tears. The food was also amazing. We had a platinum package so all food and drinks were included. Everything so good. Even breakfast. The lunch they provided for our safari was great as well. Big ups to my waitress Veronica, all the singers and dancers, and especially the men who took care of our luggage ❤️ We only stayed here one night but worth it. The rest of the grounds are beautiful. This hotel is highly recommend. I did few a few families, so I think families could work. 10/10 I recommend

My family was there in January 2024 and it was such an amazing, enjoyable experience. The food, rooms, views and stay was perfect. Also the staff, gave us a warm welcoming with beautiful energy. Absolutely, a place we want to return in the near future. I must recognize our expecional, amazing guide, James. He taught us about the animals, showed us beautiful places and introduced us to Tanzania’s culture. James made our safari Adventure a 10 out of 10. A considerate, funny and good heart person. He always tried to make us live the unique experience this beautiful place is worth it. Thank you James for everything, you are the best!
