The rooms at the Intercontinental are nice but nothing extraordinary. What makes this place stand out is the friendly, helpful staff, the large, well equipped and well ventilated gym, the nice pool that’s actually big enough to let you do decent laps, the spacious sauna (for 5) and the clean and spacious lockers. Not to mention the lovely breakfast buffet with omelettes made to your liking 🤩

Great location, & friendly staff. The hotel is on the Danube River front so awesome views & centrally located . Room was spacious & clean & the bed was comfortable , the bathroom could use a little updating re the tiles etc. daily house keeping !! Bonus there is an awesome Italian restaurant directly behind the hotel !!

Beautiful but smallish rooms but for our budget price we couldn’t have picked better. The staff were outstanding. The reception , bar and service staff could not do enough. I enquired if I can find an ironing room and writhing minutes staff knocked on my door with an ironing board and iron. At bedtime I couldn’t work out how to adjust the air conditioning and reception staff sent up someone within minutes to help us. Everyone must try the traditional Hungarian “Palinka” which is lovely flavoured fire water.

I have been many years an Ambassador member of the InterContinental Hotel Group. You can buy the membership with 200 USD or 40000 IHG points. You get one complimentary weekend night per year in one of InterContinental Hotels around the world. To get that, you had to book a two-night stay and pay for the first night the full flexible rate which is usually higher than the other rates. So I booked a River View Club room at this hotel with an excellent riverside location. It is advisable to book a Club room because breakfast is included that way. You cannot book a complimentary weekend night including breakfast. Ambassador members have a guaranteed room upgrade. The evening before our arrival I noticed that we have been upgraded to a Junior Suite. At the airport, I noticed that we have been downgraded to a Premium River View room which costs 50 euros less per night than our original Club room. These Premium rooms don't have Club access. However, we got our Club access because we had originally booked a Club room. The club access can be bought at 2 x 35 euros per night. So the value of our upgrade was 70-50 = 20 euros. I have previously noticed that InterContinental hotels tend to have very many room categories. So the upgrade is usually quite minimal. Our Premium room was probably 3 sqm bigger than our originally booked Club room. The biggest benefit was the slanted window which gave better views. The river views were stunning. The bathroom was small. The room decor was very outdated. Club Lounge at this hotel is excellent with friendly service. There is a wide selection of food and drinks. It serves also breakfast but we preferred to have the normal breakfast at Corso Restaurant. All Club guests have also access to the normal breakfast although they have not booked the breakfast-included rate. During check-in we asked for a late checkout at 14:00. Ambassador members have a guaranteed late checkout until 16:00. However, our key cards stopped working at 12:00 and had to be re-encoded. Two days later, I noticed that our stay had been a non-qualifying stay and so no other points than the 600 Welcome Points. Last year we still got the points from the Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night stay. This was the last drop to make a decision that I will not renew my Ambassador membership. This new IHG One Rewards system has become so confusing that you have to be a lawyer to understand all the terms. I know that IHG can do what they want but also the clients have the right to choose other hotels. Would I pay 395 euros for one night at this hotel? No, Budapest has many other hotels with much better value. …

We were staying for 3 days after attending a wedding in Lake Balaton. The hotel location is perfect being right on the riverfront. There is also a tram stop right outside. Tram 2 and 23 will take you on a circle route with stops at Parliament building and the castle. Hotel rooms are not the most modern, but are very clean. Beware that there is no walk in shower and you do have to climb a high bath tub to get in for a shower. Staff very helpful and the breakfast service was incredible. This is a hotel used by the river cruises so the breakfast area can be quite busy but there is sufficient seating. Would recommend buying the breakfast inclusive room offer as it works out cheaper. The hotel offers limo airport service which if catching an early morning flight out of Budapest we would recommend.…

Perfectly nice hotel on the Danube. Great location. Walk to opera house, Parliament and cathedral and numerous restaurants. We stayed here one night at the end of our Danube River Cruise with AmaWaterways. At check in, the desk arranged for a car to take us to the airport. Breakfast buffet was included and had a nice selection. Very busy place, but clean and overall good experience. Don’t arrive too early to budapest Airport - we were asked to come back to check-in desk at 2 hrs prior to our flight, so we had to wait to get our bags dropped off. Less than 5 mins to get thru security. Nice airport services once inside.

You rarely can go wrong with staying at an Intercontinental and this is especially true with the Intercontinental in Budapest. Location - ideal spot overlooking the river and a 15 to 20 minute walk from many attractions, shopping and restaurants. Service - at a high level and what you would expect of a five star hotel. Rooms - nothing special. Lounge - there was no breakfast service, which was rather disappointing, although views to the river and the overall service were outstanding. Concierge - friendly and knowledgeable with spot on recommendations for restaurants. Coffee - surprisingly good, even the espresso at breakfast.
