District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.

I changed from a perfectly good boutique hotel at less than half the price (the Mamaison Andrassy, which I fully recommend) to the Sofitel, at my own expense, for the weekend following a work trip, because I wanted the view over the Danube, the Chain Bridge and the Buda Castle.

The hotel is located in the best location, it is right in front of the Chain Bridge and bus and tram terminals. One other thing that I like, the staffs are very friendly and nice, especially Mrs. Irda (the hostess)! 😃 In my conclusion, I really enjoyed my stay at Sofitel.

Came out with a few other couples for a birthday celebration. Arrived around 2pm and one of the rooms were not ready. We left our luggage in the room that was ready and went out to explore and have lunch. When we arrived back in the hotel we went up to our room and opened the

Beautiful bridge makes it easy to travel from Budapest to Pest. Even lovelier at night. Quick walk from one side to the other side of the Danube but stop and enjoy the views and the bridge architecture.

As above our rooms had each of these items. Our friend who travelled with us is an insulin dependent diabetic and so needs refrigeration to store insulin and the bar fridge worked fine. He also needed ice packs frozen for flight after stay and these were frozen for home and delivered on day of departure.

The rooms with a view on the river side of the hotel cost almost double all the other rooms in the hotel. Because you really don't spend much time in the room don't waste your money on a view!! The hotel is so centrally located everything is a short walk from the hotel and easy for a family.

Hi. We booked private transfers with our operator but I'm sure the hotel can arrange. They are very good. Also there are always lots of taxis parked within 30M of the hotel. Enjoy! Graham

I was there in July and it was hotter than what the internet said was “average.” Put Budapest in your Weather app and keep checking.
