Excellent place with history. Romantic, good meal and great atmosphere. Perfect for stay or just dinner. Located next to park zdrojowy. Chopin concerts in August and cultural festival in October and many other attractions. Heavy recommend.
This place has great reviews for food, bit not so much for service. This is my third time here this week. Food is just amazing, and the service must have improved since the last review. We got plenty of attention, our puppy got water, and we were even able to bring him inside on a cold day. Highly recommend!
Polanica is a very attractive place, with beautiful park and a lot of restaurants in nearby. Villa Polanica is in the middle of the city. Delicious cuisine and nicely decorated interior make this place special.
We stayed at this hotel in early September 2017 to attend a family wedding in a nearby town and it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. So why only 4 star review you may ask? Well, lets get the ONLY issue out of the way. The heating in the room was a bit touch and go, BUT, in fairness the hotel had it in hand and had arranged for an engineer to attend the hotel to fix the boiler and he had left them waiting. As such, the heating options in the room were pretty much non existent. Now, with that out of the way, let's get into everything this wonderful hotel does right. First off, it is an absolutely beautiful structure, set in a tree lined street overlooking a massive park that boasts a fairy tale ambience. The peace and quiet was almost absurd to a couple used to the chaotic pointlessness of the bewilderment that is the Rat Race that runs through modern western society. The rest of the surrounding parkland and the town itself were simply exquisite. But back to the hotel, the interior of it has been designed in such a way, I do not believe that the greatest of designers could come together for a month of deliberation and be able to find a way to make it more welcoming or comfortable. The art hung on the walls was varied and inspiring. There was an understated sculpture in the lobby, dedicated to musical composition, that was one of the finest I have ever seen. In the dining area there was several framed photos depicting previous concerts held in the nearby park that had been chaired by a famed (but sadly deceased) Polish celebrity called Maria Czubaszek. Now, ordinarily I would find pictures such as these to be pretentious and annoying, but there was something so fascinating about them that I was compelled to annoy my wife (a Polish national) to explain them to me further. Hence, I ended up discovering how special the belated Mrs. Czubaszek was and after further research online am now fascinated by her legacy. She apparently stayed at this hotel with the other performers of these concerts/festivals in the past which only added to the hotels artistic value. The room we were given was one of the finest we have ever stayed in and continued with the excellent art work, was spotlessly clean, well supplied with tea & coffee making facilities and various bottles of water and good quality toiletries. There was a large balcony overlooking the serene tree lined streets which we availed of for a relaxing nightcap each night we were there. The bed was comfortable and the shower (dual use) was perfect. The food in the restaurant was superb. I could....maybe...complain that servings at dinner, while delicious, were smaller than one might expect...but...given the obesity problem in the western world these days, perhaps Villa Polanica knows whats best for us:) The bar had a great selection to choose from and as a dedicated whiskey drinker, I was particularly pleased with the varied choice on that side of the shelf. Breakfast was great, a vast cold selection and eager staff that would appear beside you in an instant to see what you would like cooked fresh for you. The ambience in general was one of cultured relaxation and despite being a paying customer I felt privileged to have found the place. I noted a well appointed, clean and well maintained children's playground to the rear of the building and there was a lovely decked area out front for external dining/relaxing and some large comfortable hammocks also, which, while I did not use, added to the relaxed ambience when you see other guests chilling in them with a good book. Speaking of which, there is a lovely reading nook in the lobby with a great selection of books in various languages. There is also a pool table/games room down below which is great fun, even if my wife did beat me repeatedly at pool. The last element to consider is the staff! In short, they were great. In particular we would very much like to highlight Dominica, Bartek & Magdalena. These three staff in particular made our stay all the more enjoyable and coupled with the layout, design and location of this hotel are the reasons we will definitely be returning to Villa Polanica, which is now one of my wife and I's favoured locations. I almost forgot, my wife availed of the hotels Spa treatments while we there and she had the wonderful experience of being attended by Mrs Ania. I decided not to avail of this because the masseuse we have at home is next to none. My wife however, tells me that Mrs. Ania was every bit as good and I am sorely disappointed that I did not believe anywhere else could provide such excellent treatment.…
We were really pleased with this Pension/ Hotel which overall was excellent. The Hotel is a lovely old building beautifully fitted out to a clean modern design. Check in - improvement could be made here, seemed a bit rushed as we were ushered to the lift and told floor 1, that was it. The room on the 1st floor was on the east side of the Hotel, a lovely proportioned room with a balcony, though the view wasn't great. Very quiet at all times. Bathroom was on the rear of the Hotel and all worked well especially the dual function shower. Public areas are spacious and very well appointed and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Breakfast - fantastic selection of hot and cold food, bit of a problem with congestion around the coffee making machine. If having cereal you cannot get to the milk because of the queue at the coffee maker. The waiters were very friendly and helpful, a credit. We stopped of at the reception desk a couple of times to enquire about things in town, very cool, not a language problem, its about engagement which was lacking. Overall this Hotel was excellent and the bed comfort was sublime, highly recommend.…
Great location. Big enough room with fridge and kettle. Friendly and helpful staff at the reception, not so happy Guys working in restaurant. Tasty food, dinner a little bit expensive comparing to the amount on the plate. Well recommended for Family break, big playground for Kids, billard for teenagers and adults too ;-) They offer babysitting service. The best are kitty pillows- U must have one;-) Will definitely come back ;-)
Villa Polanica is a Pension and not a hotel. It is good to keep this in mind. The renovations of the house have been extremely tastefully done. I have stayed several times over the past few years and I feel like I am coming home whenever I go there. The staff are professional, helpful and friendly. The food is good, the breakfasts are especially good compared to most European breakfasts, offering quality local products. The rooms are large, comfortable and well-decorated. The prices for the rooms are comparable to the standard offered. There is no swimming pool here and any treatments have to be booked in advance with the reception. But nothing is a chore for the reception staff - they have lots of maps and other information for their guests. Depending on which season, Villa Polanica also offers other amenities depending on its guests' needs. In my opinion there is only one minus and that is that the ceilings could have been better insulated; unfortunately you can hear your neighbour above you walking (or in the case of children, running) around, which is not nice early in the morning. All in all, a great place to stay and to return to. Love it!…
This place was absolutely amazing. It has nothing to do with luxury (not a seven star hotel), just the combination of atmosphere, interior, food and service. The room very comfortable, nicely decorated. The whole villa in general has superb style and ambience. The restaurant serves excellent breakfasts and even better dinners. The shrimps in the mango sauce were heavenly... Good selection of wines and beers. The staff very polite and customer friendly, starting from the reception to the waitresses. The chef prepares special dishes which can be taken home as souvenirs. The only thing worth improving is the internet connection, very weak signal in the room. Otherwise I could live there forever :-)
Very nicely furnished and comfortable hotel. Food quality will meet the highest standards. Friendly staff, great location. Pet friendly, so no worries here. Concerts on the patio during the weekends bring the crowd from town but since it is mostly blues, it is a bit different clientele.
Hotel is a nicely refurbished villa located by a local park with easy access to all local walkways and amenities. Parking is off street located up a hillside and unguarded. There is however a security camera pointed at the parking spaces from within the villa garden. Rooms are adequate and homely, mine had a nice balcony.Room service was daily. Free WIFI is available though there was a three day interruption during my stay presumably due to thunderstorms in the area. I normally eat out when travelling to local attractions but when eating in the restaurant food was good. Breakfast buffet and extras if ordered were more than adequate. Staff service was mixed. A few were excellent but there were also a couple of waiters/waitresses that were efficient but totally lacking in customer service skills. A smile and making guests feel truly welcome costs nothing but can make or break a vacation. Customer service requires social skills not just efficiency. The chef's time management and delivery priority was mixed and in some instances poor. For example,on one occasion a child's omelette took twenty minutes and when an enquiry was made by my friend the chef took umbrage rather than apologising and making an effort to appease. The owner is making an effort. For example, Chopin music recitals were organised during my visit. He has my sympathy in finding staff that are willing to work over a longer term but if client expectations are to be met it is an issue that has to be resolved. I wish him success. …
