Located in a quite part of the town amidst beautifully renovated and refurbrished pre-war guesthouses and small hotels. Our rooms very small but comfortable and had balconies facing small garden. The staff was very nice and friendly and breakfasts were delicious!

I booked this hotel 8 months before going, requesting a double bed and two singles to accommodate a family of 4. I thought the hotel looked just lovely on the Internet - really warm and inviting, luxurious even. We arrived to find a much paler, shabbier, lifeless building that on the exterior reminded me of a down at heel home in The Appalachians. On entering, it looked like a building being run by Kurt Cobain's grand-children (No offence to Mr Cobain). I read on a card in the reception that it was owned by an investment company. Presumably they want a good return on this investment and certainly do not waste funds on staff. We were given our key and went to the lift where on of the lamentable and scruffy employees was emptying a load of dirty washing. He left a lot of the dirt and the water on the floor of the lift. We then got to our studio apartment. It had twin beds and a rancid looking sofa, and resembled somewhere you would be detained rather than choose to spend any time. We went out for something to eat and arranged alternative accommodation for the rest of the week but we did have to stay at Perla for one night. When we got back to the apartment it was about 2030. We just got ready for bed and fell asleep. Half an hour later I was woken by two or three men having a full on row in an adjoining room. Above my head sounded like a gathering of grumpy Gilbratan apes fighting and stampeding. When all this noise died down at gone midnight a car alarm in the hotel car park went off until about 3am. I wedged a chair against the door, woke up in the morning, took a hasty and pathetic breakfast and left to the surprise of the Little Cobain People who clearly have no idea how to care for guests never mind look after them. Appalling.
