Has once been a very nice place. Unfortunately seems not to maintained and want to keep costs down. Worn out interior , reception etc. No management available. Sad as the rooms and everything could be perfect with some love and care. Staff friendly but most also seems inexperienced even though many of them did their best.

STAIRS: If you have mobility issues please note that while none of the images used by Peppers Clearwater display stairs, they are here. The entry to the Lakeside Suites are up a flight of stairs and the bedroom is up another flight. STORAGE: Some of the double garages under the accomodation are used to store housekeeping supplies. We arrived at 1:30am in the dark. The light bulb above our room number was blown otherwise we *possibly* would have noticed the small sign informing us not to park within 1.5m of the roller door. We were called at 7:50am to move our car. Why the reception staff don't make a point of explaining this when you check in is a mystery. Being woken up after an international flight is REALLY annoying. PRIVACY: The Lakeside Suites have a verandah overlooking the beautiful lake. THIS IS NOT A PRIVATE BALCONY. Each Suite has another studio room attached to the side/rear of your suite. It was really embarrassing coming downstairs from our bedroom only to discover our *neighbours* enjoying our verandah. Bed and pillows are fantastic. The upstairs bathroom is well-appointed, clean and modern with a 2 person bathtub. Everything else is worn and old. The view over the lake and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. If it wasn't for that, we would have packed up and left.

The resort is quite good with picturesque views of the lake. The golf course is fantastic. The overall service is not up to scratch. On the weekends there is no manager or a person in charge Do not hold your breath until your room is serviced. We had to wait until 330. I am an Accor platinum member and am extremely disappointed!!!! The restaurant is ok. It has a very limited menu Breakfast is of a very basic standard

I stayed here in 2017 and enjoyed the stay immensely. The dining experience alone was more than reasonable enough to return. This time around, however, dining was a complete letdown. To be fair, the meals were ok but nothing compared to what I experienced before. Apparently, there was a change in management a few years ago. Too bad. The rooms are dated and could use some upgrades. Happy that they provide free laundry in each garage. Get a late view room, not a lake front room.

Peppers is set within a golf course offering spacious accommodation, which could be really nice. In its heyday it would have been impressive. Sadly, as mentioned by other reviewers, it is very worn and tired. Table tops scratched, furniture chipped and paintwork chipped making the rooms look scruffy. Luggage has to be carried up a flight of stairs, which may be an issue for some people. Whilst in the middle of checking in, one member of staff thought it acceptable to talk across us another guest, (not about an urgent matter, which may have been understandable) which we thought was quite rude and unprofessional. Overall a forgettable experience, thankfully only for the one night.

Stayed here for a part of our Honeymoon while in and near Christchurch, we had a room in a nice location overlooking one of the small lakes. However, our stay was not a good one. The apartment was tired and old, the shower door couldn't close properly so the bathroom floor was wet every time we used the shower. The bath also had large patches of black mould in the grout. The stove didn't work and several lights wouldn't work. When we arrived, there was cobwebs in many places some with large dead moths inside. We reported these problems to reception and we're told to go in person in the morning. When we arrived in the morning no one knew of our issues. We were told that they would be fixed that day however only some of the lights were replaced. None of the other issues were resolved. Cleaning standards did not improve while we were there, the bin was not consistently emptied and there were bags of spare towels left in the middle of the room. Would not stay here again and would definitely hesitate to use any of their other resorts after this poor experience.

Terrible customer service especially for a 4 star “resort”. Bed configuration was wrong on arrival (2 king beds for a family of 4 with a 15 yo and 12 yo) and couldn’t be rectified until the next day. Had to request multiple times daily to get the room serviced and the housekeeping staff were very grumpy and angry. Don’t waste your money on this place!

This was our last stop over before flying home. The villa had a perfect view of the lake , and golf course . The furnishings were a little outdated ,however the view , cleanliness and positioning made up for that . The king bed was as amazing and the staff very supportive of our late check out. It was a perfect way to finish off our holiday .

Arrived at 1am to find out that the 2 rooms booked are separated miles away, even when booked I have contacted the hotels for it, nothing mentioned or bother to explain the hotel layout. The reception was not guiding us at all at 1am, to expect we will know the miles away rooms. Stay away and better look for other place to stay

We stayed here on our way down to Dunedin. The resort was conveniently located by SH1 and is close to the airport. Signposting once on the resort was lacking, and even at the main building was not clear. Check in was fine, and accommodation easy to find. Our apartment was nicely laid out with a patio overlooking the golf course. Furniture and window dressings were quite worn, but otherwise the apartment was ok and clean. Staff were welcoming and our meals in the restaurant were good.
