I was booked in to stay here for business but the dirty carpet was a worry. I then read a couple of recent reviews about bed bugs and on inspecting the bed and noticing the "mattress cover" was completely inadequate, decided to stay elsewhere. The staff were at least accommodating in enabling me to check out.

We had a beautiful large room, nice kitchen and bath room. Walking distance to the CBD and a beautiful Meyers park just around the corner. Breakfast was ok. We did not opt for the extra $15 for a warm breakfast, just the basic one, which was ok. However, a few days later both my wife and I discovered many bites over our bodies. I counted 19 and my wife about 10, causing a week of severe itchiness across our bodies. As we did not have any other exposures to bed bugs, including our home, the only option was our bed at VR Queen Street. I did send them a message with our feedback and asked for a response. However, no reply, which is a serious disappointment for such a nasty issue. So, despite the nice room I am unable to give a positive review.

This hotel was affordable, clean, centrally located & had an amazing shower! The only issue we had was no parking as their car park booked out, we were a little disappointed we weren’t offered to book a spot before we arrived. Would still recommend!

Room and bed comfortable, but we booked to include breakfast and were then told we had to pay extra for a hot breakfast, we agreed to pay for it but the hot breakfast consisted of nearly cold bacon and sausages, only scrambled eggs no other egg option, there was also lack of normal breakfast black tea. Seems they may have a problem with keeping food at correct temperature, something they need to look at before someone gets sick, certainly not A grade food standard shown on their certificate, shame as the breakfast ruined what was otherwise a pleasant stay in Auckland.
