Nestled amongst a backdrop of secluded hidden bays, majestic granite boulders, white sandy beaches, and towering coconut Bedarra Island is the ultimate definition of barefoot luxury. With just seven private villas, each with uninterrupted ocean views, this all inclusive sustainable island resort will ensure you find yourself in a sanctuary of complete solace and seclusion as you explore the tropical rainforest, beautiful beaches and fringing reefs. Our Executive Chef prepares gourmet meals daily and local produce and tropical fruits are a feature of our ever changing menu. The open terrace restaurant, bar and lounge are the heart and soul of Bedarra, where guests converge over a delicious and ever-changing menu, or to indulge at the legendary open bar. An exquisite menu is matched only by the sublime beauty of deserted beaches fringed by lush rainforest. Find your own table for two on the pool deck or terrace for an intimate dining experience or join the Long Table for a dinner party style congregation with your fellow guests and resort host.Although our ethos remains centred on relaxation, we do offer a number of less sedentary activities including kayaking, stand up paddle boards, snorkelling, fishing, tennis and self-guided interactive walks through the verdant rainforest. For the more adventurous and at an additional fee we can arrange deep sea fishing, scuba-diving, and scenic helicopter flights. We pride ourselves on offering each guest a unique experience. Whether it be a candlelit dinner for two on our private deck under the starry night, packing a gourmet hamper in your own dinghy for a romantic picnic on one of the nearby deserted islands, or booking the entire resort with a group of friends or family for a bespoke tropical island experience you will remember forever. Bedarra is situated seven kilometres off the coast of Mission Beach, Tropical North Queensland (approximately 140km south of Cairns). Scenic 35 minute heli-transfers are available from Cairns airport directly to our beachside heli-pad. Alternatively road transfers from Cairns take approximately two hours connecting with twice daily water taxi transfers from Mission Beach to Bedarra.

We had a beautiful 5 night break at Bedarra Island staying in the North West Villa for 2 nights and one of The Pavilions for 3 nights. The island is amazingly beautiful - you have to pinch yourself to realise you really are staying in that place you saw in the photos and that it looks just like the postcard. The service team are fantastic - friendly, funny, attentive. Thank you Geoffrey, Lance, Bindi, Jessica, Leah, Andy, Danielle. The food was also extremely good (with the exception of our picnic which was average and not enough). We aren't massive drinkers but the wine pairings were quality and you can drink the bar dry if that's your thing (it was so hot and humid just staying hydrated is hard work!) My reason for saying four stars rather than five is that there are aspects of the resort that just aren't five star. The villas are tired looking - the balustrade on the deck in our first villa was rickety (I was nervous leaning on it), both villas had tiles missing in the pool, nails on the deck were sticking up, everything looks like it needs a good reoil/repaint. Our second villa was much nicer (and only $100 a night dearer) - would recommend The Pavilions but not the North West Villa. But there are no five star touches in the villas - they are plain, no decorations etc Although the resort does use solar there are a lot of other practices that aren't the best in terms of sustainability. The toiletries still use miniatures all of which are in plastic, small plastic water bottles abound. Finally although the service is great when it is there, it's only really there at mealtimes. If you want snacks other than kettle chips or a cookie you need to walk to the central villa and help yourself - and the selection is pretty limited. There's no in room phone so you can't call for anything unless you use your own mobile and Google the front desk number. All of this is fine. But it isn't quite five star. In summary, we loved our time at Bedarra and really appreciated the staff. But the owners maybe need to refresh the property and think about whether their view of five star matches the price and equivalent properties.

My husband and I just spent 6 wonderful nights at Bedarra Island Resort. From the minute we arrived we felt relaxed, welcomed and indulged. Besides the natural beauty of the location, the friendly and warm service of the staff was a welcomed part of our stay. Our 'Beach House' villa was perfect. Beautiful views a few steps from the waters edge plus our plunge pool was perfect for this particularly warm time of year. We couldn't stop talking about the food - every meal was delicious and kept us going for hours...until the next amazing meal and matching wines was served. The day in the dinghy with yummy picnic lunch and 'adult' beverages, hikes to quite beaches and the help flight all contributed to the being a holiday we can't wait to repeat! Many thanks to Geoffrey, Leah, Jessica, Andy, Lance, Dani, Bindi the chefs and any other fantastic staff that helped make our stay what it was.

Having just returned from my eighth, and I feel, my final trip to Bedarra I felt compelled to leave a review regarding my time there. I have always enjoyed immensely my time on Bedarra but alas my last trip lacked that special something that had always made my time there so special. The usual attention to detail I have always felt seemed to be missing. The island setting is spectacular, housekeeping marvellous and wait staff amazing, especially Bindi's fantastic cappuccinos, Andy's attentiveness and Lance's droll sense of humour! The food was great, with an ever-changing array of choice and even better if you're a big chilli fan (I'm not)! I was left with a burning mouth a number of times!! Thank heavens for the endless presentation of alcoholic drinks. Spending both Christmas and New Year's at Bedarra was something I really looked forward to, and while Christmas was amazing as was the cocktail party by the pool for New Year's, the dinner that followed was disappointing. While the food in itself was fine, the night overall did not meet expectations. Overall my stay on Bedarra was, in the main enjoyable but lacked the personal warmth I'd felt in previous visits. I left saddened, knowing I would probably not be returning but sure in the knowledge I'd always have my memories of happier times there to sustain me...

This was the ultimate all-inclusive holiday. We were overwhelmed not only by the natural beauty of Bedarra Island Resort but also the attentive and humorous staff who made our experience unforgettable in all the right ways. Geoff, Lance, Bindi, Jess, Cody and Tom were the epitome of professionalism at its finest - each of those lovely humans have the perfect blend of enthusiasm, humour and were highly accomplished in their roles and made our stay heavenly. The dining experiences were beyond incredible, each meal finely curated to create a unique meal. The picnic on a deserted island with champagne was divine and is highly recommended, a true "money can't buy" experience. It was the perfect honeymoon and we can't wait to return.
