We stayed for 7 nights (first week of January), check-in was easy, George was very helpful. However, if your room is in Block D, try & make it a pool view room. We had envisioned having relaxing drinks on our balcony, but having the Cairns Aquarium concrete wall 2 metres from the balcony, kind of put us off. Room was clean, slightly dated. Bedside GPO was hidden under the head board, so needed a mirror to plug things in. Food was great. Good variety at breakfast buffet & evening meals. Due to school holidays & Qld opening to the rest of Australia, the hotel was full & staff were under a lot of pressure. Josie in Moku was outstanding. The hotel is within walking distance to the Esplanade, shopping centre & Marina.
Myself and my partner had a fantastic stay at the Novotel oasis resort. Staff were so friendly and accommodating! The beach and pool area with swim up bar was the best! Our room was freshened daily and shampoos, towels etc restocked , the bed was super comfy too. I would recommend this resort to family with children and friends, there's something for everyone. Can't wait to return!
Fantastic place, loved the pool and the rooms. The service was great. Shout out to Melanie at breakfast and jack st the bar. You beauty, Wonderful because you can walk to anywhere. Loved the view and stuff. Kkkkkkkmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Overall this is great hotel for families with beach club like facilities designed for the young and young at heart. Our break down of our stay and score. Checkin - The service on arrival is what you would, efficient and professional (4 stars). The Room - The room was nicely done, and as expected ( 4 stars). Service of room - well done and staff friendly ( 5 stars). Food quality- pleasant and plentiful, especially at breakfast. Menu was very appropriate to beach side experience. ( 4 star) Restaurant - more like a buffet on a cruise ship. It was crowded, noisy, generally not Covid friendly with some staff not wearing their masks properly, and some very causal dress style of some of the patrons ( which fits given the nearby pool, but…) Waits times were high due to some technical issues, Covid reduced staff numbers, and sheer numbers of people being serviced. Food ordering system was slow and tedious when busy, as only one staff member was recording orders. This was the same for smorgasbord breakfast with only one staff member directing patrons. Staff on whole were generally professional and helpful. The ordering system was probably the key issue. Perhaps the hotel may consider a section of restaurant being put aside for quiet dining ( for middle aged old farts with no children.) ( 2 stars for middle aged old farts who want quiet dignified Novotel dining experience. ( 3 stars for anyone else). Parking - plentiful and secure ( 5 stars) The location- perfect access to Cairns CBD ( 5 stars) Check out - again was what you would expect ( 4 stars). We recommend this hotel for families and the young at heart that want the pool side experience that is causal and beach club like. ( 4 stars) As a middle aged couple without family it didn’t meet our past expectations of what to expect at a Novotel. ( 3 stars)…
Now I know that we are dealing with Covid but we paid an exceptional amount considering the quality of service provided at the hotel. We had a city view room with views of a car park, the split system air con was substandard and barely adequate, room service every second day which at 330 a day is ordinary, we ordered food at the restaurant a few days and the bare minimum wait was about 90 minutes, bar staff were also very unwelcoming. This may have been a good hotel prior to Covid but was very substandard and the feeling was mutual between a lot of guests we met during our stay.
