My advice… come here with low expectations and your hand tight on your wallet. It’s basically a user pays self service hotel now. Free WiFi only available if you join up and hand more of your personal details over to the Hilton Honors program. Wanna watch a movie? That’ll be $34.95 thanks!!! Otherwise Great view, good location. Just BYO food and drinks and enjoy the veranda view. Just don’t expect a traditional Hilton experience here.

First impressions last, We were offered a room upgrade...........for a fee that we had to pay. -No free parking -Bathroom is small cramped and the shower over bath is outdated and tacky. -the whole place looks dishevelled and unkept with overgrown gardens to peeling paint and old decor. -had to ring front desk to ask for someone to make drinks by the pool as we waited for over 10min thinking the server had perhaps gone to the toilet also the pool looks directly Into a vacant eyesore block of land I mean you could have forked out for a nice retaining wall to block sight and sound. -The room tv was the size of a cereal box. -The live music from the casino is so loud you basically have a band on your balcony and if you want to sleep well good luck. Overall it is a good location but that’s as far as it goes the only 5 stars this place gets is if it were out of 100 and even that’s a stretch . I wish I had of paid more to stay at a better place as it was a bitter disappointment. Would not recommend and would not return.

Great buffet b’fast at Cafe Sunrise. What a selection! Even if you are not staying at the Hilton Cairns, you can still have b’fast there for $29. Anne & Rona plus the rest of their team are always there to assist with a big smile. They have done a fantastic job renovating the Executive Lounge and the buffet set-up looks so good. Luse and Britney always gives us a warm welcome also every Saturday night there is a lovely lady who plays harp. I love watching her play. Daniel and his front office team are always ready to assist in every way. We always get excited visiting this hotel for it has the best 50 meter pool and a huge jacuzzi. There is a pool bar too.

We had a 4 day getaway so decided to travel to cairns from the Gold Coast as travelling is a bit limited at the moment . All I can say was the best decision, from check in to departure the staff were nothing but professional and so friendly . We arrived extremely early but they found a room that we could check into straight away with a fabulous view . The breakfast was included in our room rate and to be honest hate buffet breakfast after working in the industry myself for years but the food , staff , and atmosphere changed my previous opinion.. couldn’t fault it and I don’t say that lightly. Mondos served a great variety of dishes and also delivered to the pool at lunch which was awesome. The bar didn’t open until 5 which was a little disappointing but the service and cocktails 5 star . Would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in cairns !! Could not beat the location or the staff that look after you during your stay .. staff can make or break a hotel .. Hilton recruitment are doing a excellent job with their job .

Hi melaniejanesmith65 Many thanks for your feedback and positive review on Tripadvisor. Always pleasing to respond to happy guests! Like so many of our guests you have picked up on a few key points: the staff here are extremely professional and helpful, very focussed on ensuring guests feel right at home. Our location is 2nd to none, being an easy stroll to many key attractions like the Reef Terminal, the Lagoon and of course shops bars and cafes. The past few weeks have seen our culinary team really "rework" our breakfast offering, focussing on colour, variety and quality - so thank you for noting the efforts they have put in to make it stand out from every other hotel buffet. Once again thank you and please do visit us again soon.

Like any hotel in any town or city around the world you will find 'poor reviews'. Some are justified, some not, some are posted by people who always find fault and always post negative reviews. Most properties have rooms that are 'problematic' so attract poor reviews. Obviously my review is only based on our room, how it is presented and how we found the property overall. So I continue. We booked a 4 night stay in a standard double and on arrival (at 12:30) we expected our room would not be ready so asked if we could store our bags until check-in at 3pm? The lovely lady at the desk said yes and proceeded to check us in. She asked if we would be interested in an upgrade to a higher floor and a water view and if so a room was ready now. So we accepted and proceeded to head up to our 7th floor room 739. On opening our door the first thing that we noticed was - the view. The view from our balcony out over the cruise port area, Hemingway's Brewery and the surrounding mountains was great. The room was very clean and 'cool'. No issue at all with our aircon . With not much planned for the rest of the day we headed downstairs to the pool (the GW) and me to the bar. The pool area is very good, bar service good. After a few hours we moved back inside and noticed 'happy hour' at the bar so a couple of drinks there in very comfy lounge chairs. The hotel foyer, bars, pool area were all very clean and well presented. Beds were great, very comfortable. Room was cleaned every day. I would say now that 'housekeeping' was available well before 10am during our stay. Day 2 we are off to Fitzroy Island at 8am and housekeeping were on our floor at that time. Breakfast - OK we have stayed in some hotels around the world that offer more choice BUT - given the obvious still low occupancy rate due to no international or interstate tourists in my view they did a good job. Staff were very attentive as hotel breakfasts go the food very plentiful , hot and well presented. Now to location - could not be better. Walk out the back and you are on the boardwalk. 2 minutes to the right you are at Hemingway's Brewery and the cruise port. 3 minutes walk to the left and you are at the Reef Terminal where all the boats depart on various cruises to the Reef and local Islands etc. In between are the majority of the better restaurants of Cairns. Most of the 'touristy' things of Cairns are also within 10 minutes walk from the Hilton All in all - I would happily stay here again and recommend this property.

Good morning AussiePD We really appreciate you taking the time to leave such a detailed and lovely review on Hilton Cairns. I can tell you that you have touched on so many of the points raised by reviewers and guests: our super central location in the city, on the waterfront and an easy 2 minute walk to the Reef Terminal, not to mention a wide selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. We continue to partake in Hilton's Global Cleanstay program, which ensures we deliver the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitisation to guests and team members alike. Our Housekeeping team is definitely the hardest (and often least recognised) department in the hotel - they start in the early hours and work solidly through the day refreshing and re-making rooms: it is a very demanding job so thank you for noting their efforts. We truly appreciate your review and I will be sharing this with the wider hotel team. Hilton Cairns looks forward to welcoming you back next time you are visiting Cairns.
