Hotel at the time or our stay was undergoing renovations which is never a good thing. That said the bathrooms certainly need it with still the shower over the bath. Hotel location is far from ideal. If you want to be close to the city Centre then give this hotel a miss. The location also exposes the rooms to significant road noise which is a huge negative. On site parking is very limited another significant negative particularly if you are traveling by car and have it loaded with gear. This is not what I expected from a Sheridan hotel and I must accept I made a bad choice which will not happen again. The room aside the bathroom was clean and well presented as was the general environs of the hotel aside the mess and clutter associated with the renovations. I really believe that hotels undertaking renovations should declare it on their website so as a customer you know what you are in for otherwise you are paying for something you are not actually getting. No chance of a sleep-in as the workmen were at at 0830. The staff are helpful and friendly but it does not compensate for the negatives.

Thanks for your comments. Good news is the renovations are complete so no more workers and all our car parks are now free. We had the renovations on our website but you would have booked through some third party site of which there are thousands so impossible to change every site. If you had have done some travel research you would have seen our notice about the refurbishment and also you would have possibly realised that there are no Sheraton’s in Cairns. Like any author, if you are going to tell a story, do your research and get the facts right.

Had a great stay at this newly refurbished hotel, Nice new comfortable beds, sheets and pillows, plenty of power points and USB for all of my devices. Fresh carpet paint and furniture makes the room smell wonderful. A large working/dining table with comfortable tub chairs. Excellent water pressure in the shower unlike most hotels these days. Great service from reception and house keeping. Great buffet breakfast selection, will definitely return.

Definitely not what it looks like on the internet. Breakfast was included, such a joke. No coffee had to buy one from across the road. Food was not appetizing at all and you never got what you ordered. They are currently refurbishing which isn’t mentioned when booking. Hammering starting at 7.00 am and going all day, workmen walking past the bedroom window which you wouldn’t expect on the 2nd floor. Gym was closed as it was full of tools. Lots of tradies staying at the hotel which is probably what it is more suited to. Very disappointed. Would not recommend.

Sorry about the refurbishment but it has been on our website for months and everyone got a letter of the work schedule (no work started before 8am BTW). Seems you were the only one to not read the memo. The good news is that the refurbishment is now complete and all our rooms are now brand new. Totally stripped all rooms, freshly painted, new carpets, beds and every piece of furniture with stone tops brand new. New easy access power points with USB connections as well as new lights and LED strip lighting above the bed, not to mention the 50" Smart TV's in all rooms. The rooms look great, unfortunately the room you were in was not refurbished at that stage. It is now all complete.

The gentleman working the night check in was super lovely. The hotel itself is well appointed and very clean, with effective COVID safe measures in place. A greta budget option, but it will be exciting to see how the upcoming renovations will affect the overall atmosphere. My only flaw is we arrived for breakfast at 6:30am in dire need for a good coffee, but the specialty coffee only begins at 7. We had to move quick as we'd booked for a reef tour with an early check in, so we settled with the instant coffee, which was a bit rough to swallow when real coffee was being served just half an hour later. My only recommendation would be specialty coffee to be served at the start of breakfast, for those coffee snobs such as ourselves. Otherwise, breakfast was lovely and hearty. Understandable that a buffet option is not available during COVID, yet the Sheridan Hotel made every effort to give us the hot breakfast options a typical buffet would have.

Thank you for your review and I'm glad the refurbishment didn't bother you at all. Sorry about the coffee but I think the nice night guy didn't want to make you coffee because the restaurant waitress was running late. Sorry about that. Breakfast does start at 6.30 and specialty coffee is also served at that time (normally). More good news is that the breakfast buffet is back with Queensland removing the restrictions on buffets. This does make breakfast a lot easier for us and much better for our guests. Thanks again for your comments.

What a special night we had at the Cairns Sheridan. Booked a special dinner to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We were treated like royalty by Jen and Hayden. What fantastic service we received and the dinner what excellent. Thanks also to the chef who certainly knows how to cook a good steak. Can not speak highly enough of this restaurant and hotel. Strongly recommend you try them. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you so much for your generous review. It is so good to get such good comments our our restaurant and staff. A lot of our regular corporate clients often talk about our great steaks, so good to get it in writing. Hopefully we'll see you again on, or before your 60th Anniversary.
