Great overnight stay in the city with family. Slow checkin due to large numbers all checking in straight after 3pm. But the staff tried to make the environment friendly. Parking is chaotic, they need to have a concierge handling the parking. breakfast was pretty good but a mad-house!
We recently stayed 1 night as we had booked in to a comedy show at the Ooera House. While there are Accor hotels close to the venue we booked Novotel Darling Harbour as it is a favourite of ours and not available for a while due to Covid. Our stay was amazing from start to finish. Simon rang us while we were driving in to explain parking arrangements and that we were upgraded to a suite overlooking Darling Harbour. Food at Ternary bar was amazing, we are looking forward to the restaurant reopening in near future. Staff all very efficient and pleasant. Our room spacious and very quiet.
We have been staying at this hotel forever so we must line it here. Always a harbour view and we line a certain room although we do think there should be upgrades with the taps otherwise perfect for us I would have lined another choice of pillow as I found them too high but the bed was extra comfy Limited accessories eg shower cap but could have asked house keeping Towels really nice Restaurant only open Thursday to Sunday but bar food available which is pretty good
My mum and I are currently staying here- we have been helped multiple times by Andrew and have been treated like Royalty. The view from the room is beautiful and the facilities are excellent. Would absolutely recommend to anyone to stay here, has to be one of the best places I've ever visited.
My family and I had been looking forward to this overnight stay for well over a year, it was a highly anticipated family wedding. We came straight from the church and we were keen to settle in and move onto the reception. I even tried to finalise the bill over the phone the day before to save time, but because I booked through 'booking.com' I wasn't permitted to do this. I was also not eligible for the NSW Stay voucher due to booking through booking.com. This was not disclosed at the time of booking either. The parking situation was absolute terrible for all our family members. Check in was also slow and cumbersome. My parents had a lot of trouble, my father is very sick at present, having just come out of hospital and they wanted my parents to park a long distance away as well! I have a chronic illness too, this means I cannot stand or walk for long periods, I was also scheduled to take my medication upon arrival at the hotel, meds are intravenous so not possible for me to bring my whole esky and stuff to the church for the nuptials so I packed it with my luggage. Husband was told he had to go and park next door at Harbourside as there was no space at the Novotel, it was a long walk for me so he dropped me off and my young daughter helped with the bags. We were struggling to carry so much so we left the bags with the concierge and went upstairs to check in. There wasn't a queue which I was grateful for, I signed the designated forms and produced my credit card hoping that I could get the keys and head on up to the room to take my medication (it was way past the 2pm check in time at this stage). I was standing there for ages at the desk, filling in forms and what not. Finally, after tapping away on his computer and mumbling an awful lot, talking with other staff and other guests while I was standing there, the check in clerk FINALLY produced the card reader and requested my pin number. I typed in my pin and the machine flashed up with 'card declined'. I was almost sick by this stage and my daughter had to steady me, beads of sweat formed on my brow and I felt faint. This whole weekend was a highly anticipated event, I'd double checked absolutely everything to ensure everything went smoothly. 'I know this machine is broken, we can use the card number you provided us with when you booked?' Well, it's the same card number so I agreed. I'd tried to do this the day prior to save me waiting around like this so I was a bit miffed that they were essentially doing what they told me they were unable to do the day prior. I felt like asking 'if the machine is broken, then why use it and almost give me heart failure?' I was shaking and almost in tears. It didn't sit right with me at all, it's a bit concerning that they can just charge anything to your card like that without your PIN, knowledge or consent, but it worked and I finally had the key in my hand. I was not given a receipt, the check in clerk spoke very quietly and was difficult to understand. My husband had parked next door and returned in this time and he could see I was struggling. I told him the concierge was going to bring bags up once we checked in. We went up to the room and waited. My husband had to call twice for the bags to be brought up as I was feeling very ill at this point and it looked as though I wouldn't make it to the wedding reception. I had to take it easy all evening as a result of all the stress over checking in. The room itself is lovely clean and comfortable, the views spectacular! Nothing wrong with these rooms at all. Absolutely perfect, if not a bit exorbitant. I had a feeling in my waters that check out was going to be an issue too and my gut instinct was 100% correct. Upon check out I was told that they had initially undercharged me when I checked in (I have NO idea what I paid because I wasn't given a receipt) and they would just take an extra $80 off my card - this is very concerning and smacks of deceit. I also validated the parking and was given instructions about what to do with the tickets. I was to put in the parking ticket, and when it asked for payment I was to insert a second ticket to cover the parking and this would let us out. Well, it didn't work! . My husband looked at me accusingly and said 'you told me you validated the parking already? They want more $$$ out of us?' I explained that I had validated the parking. The parking attendant's voice came through the boom gate box. She wanted another $80 from us, she refused to believe we'd validated the parking next door at the Novotel beforehand and told us we had $80 outstanding and we needed to pay it to exit. After a huge screaming match that went for 15 min and left me in tears and shaking, she finally let us go. Telling us to leave our tickets on the machine for her to 'check later'. I'm watching my statement very carefully as I'm pretty sure they'll take another $80 because now they have free reign on my credit card. I'm so close to cancelling my card as this screams 'DECEPTION' to me. Rooms are perfectly fine, bar and restaurant seems well run too, it's just the parking, check in and check out that needs A LOT of work. This is VERY EXPENSIVE hotel and for the price you pay for one solitary night here, customers deserve a seamless check in and check out experience at the very least.…
Had a fabulous time. Everything so close. Restaurant exceptional. Would highly recommend a stay here. Rooms clean, everything that you need in a hotel room. When raining they supply an umbrella. I would stay again.
Novotel Darling Harbour has never disappointed us-always such impeccable service right from VIP carparking service, attention to detail in room and previleges in room as a gold card member and the restaurant with its extensive menu to suit all appetites. It is my Go-to Hotel when I have a weekend in Sydney. Thank you to staff of Novotel for making us feel so special!
Rubbish Accor property Disgusting room , absolutely a over priced rip off Room was a disgrace , air con didn’t work , bathroom a disgrace Worst hotel room I have ever stayed in in Australia No recognition of Accor status at all Fro check in this was a bad experience Typical run down 3 rd rate Accor property
Although slow start on arrival only Staff and checkin and there was a delay, however when it was my turn staff member couldn’t be more helpful. Upgraded room due to loyalty program was really appreciated.. room was large with nice view. If there is one thing I would say, as the rooms are large, could Accor possibly consider queen beds as applied to double, even a Queen double combo. Most parents struggle when travelling with kids to fit in a double bed.
We stayed for one night. Location was amazing with a short walk to Lyric Theatre & cafes. Our room was great, there was plenty of room & lots of hot water in the shower. Loved the bar food & happy hour. Staff were friendly & professional.
